Top 10 Rising Companies For 2015

NEW YORK — Hundreds of fast food workers walked off their jobs in dozens of U.S. cities on Thursday — reportedly forcing at least a few locations to temporarily close or re-staff while mostly managers filled-in — as sympathetic protesters in several dozen countries joined in a united call for wages of $15 an hour and the right to form a union.

No violence was reported early Thursday. Restaurants such as McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s and KFC are being targeted. The strike, targeting the $200 billion fast-food industry at a time of intense competition, is aimed at directing consumer attention to the low wages of most fast-food workers. The one-day campaign continues protests launched 18 months ago.

Strikers claim that managers opted to close down a Burger King in Dorchester, Mass, where a half dozen workers were striking, but Burger King officials could not immediately confirm that. “During this time, customer service and quality will remain a top priority i n Burger King restaurants,” company spokesman Alix Salyers said, in a statement. While McDonald’s officials insist that no McDonald’s restaurants have been closed due to the strike, protesters insist that several have.

Einhorn mentioned operating margin estimates are too high and that similar companies to Athenahealth have margins around 10%. Our expectations aren’t that much higher, as we estimate Athenahealth will finish 2014 with adjusted operating margins of 10.3%, increasing to 11.4% and 12.0% in 2015 and 2016, respectively. While we expect some margin expansion, our absolute margin levels are in-line with other [software-as-a-service] peers 2014E operating margins including: Medidata (MDSO) at 8.9%, Salesforcecom (CRM) at 10.3%, and LinkedIn (LNKD) at 13.8%. While not expecting significant margin expansion in the near term, we expect Athenahealth’s margins to expand in the future, driven by declining marginal costs associated with adding additional providers to its user base. Additionally, as the top-line growth slows, we expect the company to cut back on its investments, allowing earnings to flow through the bottom line.

To spark a bidding contest for World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. (WWE), all Vince McMahon needs to do is wave a “for sale” sign. McMahon, 68, controls the voting power of the $2.3 billion company that’s been entertaining spectators with staged fights for decades. The stock is at a record after WWE launched its own subscription streaming network and became the subject of takeover speculation. Should McMahon ever decide he’s ready to sell, companies from Comcast Corp. (CMCSA) to Madison Square Garden Co. (MSG) may line up with offers, Albert Fried & Co. and National Alliance Capital Markets said. “What is McMahon’s succession plan and who will he pass the keys of the kingdom to?” Robert Routh, an analyst at National Alliance, said in a phone interview. “WWE would be very attractive to many different types of buyers. What they’ve built can’t be recreated. But without McMahon’s blessing, it doesn’t matter how much somebody is willing to pay for the company.” The franchise that thrust Hulk Hogan and The Rock into stardom owns the television shows “Raw” and “Smackdown,” which have a dedicated following and command high cable-TV ratings, Vertical Group said. The company, which is hosting its annual WrestleMania event in three weeks, will post its best revenue and profit growth in more than a decade next year, according to analysts’ estimates compiled by Bloomberg. This week’s winner
After tumbling by double digits last week, trucking company Arkansas Best (NASDAQ: ABFS  ) tacked on 14.6% to take the top spot this week. Shares rallied after the company announced a regular $0.03 quarterly cash dividend on Tuesday, payable to shareholders on May 21. Following stronger-than-expected results from many trucking companies, I feel quite confident that once Arkansas Best solves its union issues, it’ll be pedal to the metal.

Top 10 Rising Companies For 2015: Whiting USA Trust I(WHX)

Whiting USA Trust I is a REIT. The trust was founded in 2007 and is based in Austin, Texas.

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

Another name that’s starting to move within range of triggering a big breakout trade is Whiting USA Trust I (WHX). This stock hasn’t done much so far in 2013, with shares up just 4.5%.

If you look at the chart for Whiting USA Trust I, you’ll notice that this stock has been uptrending strong for the last few weeks, with shares moving higher from its low of $3.65 to its intraday high of $4.87 a share. During that move, shares of WHX have been consistently making higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That move has now spiked shares of WHX back above both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, which is bullish. Shares of WHX are now quickly moving within range of triggering a big breakout trade.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in WHX if it manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $4.90 to $5.04 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 321,220 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then WHX will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $6.23 to $8.01 a share.

Traders can look to buy WHX off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below its 50-day at $4.12 a share. One can also buy WHX off strength once it takes out that breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.
