Top 10 Long Term Stocks To Own Right Now

Ever wish you could go back in time about ten years and invest in Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG)? If you could, your GOOG stock position would be up about 1000% right now… a handsome reward indeed. Trouble is, you can’t invest in the Google of the past. To capitalize on currently-available search-based investments, you have to find a company that’s in a situation now like the one GOOG was in a decade ago.

This is where many savvy investors would expect to hear the name Baidu Inc. (NASDAQ:BIDU)… China’s web-search giant, which owns about 63% of that nation’s search market in addition to a good-sized piece of its growing mobile search market. BIDU isn’t the stock you’re going to hear touted as the next Google today, however. No, the next Google – or as close to it – as you’re going to get anyway – worth some speculative investment dollars is a company called Yandex NV (NASDAQ:YNDX).

Back on March 11th, yours truly opined that the wild bullishness that had carried names like ZBB Energy Corporation (NYSEMKT:ZBB), Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ:PLUG), FuelCell Energy Inc. (NASDAQ:FCEL), and Ballard Power Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:BLDP) to triple digit gains (in just a few days) was coming to a close, and taking profits on any and all of these stocks would be a good idea. It was an idea that went over like a lead balloon, judging from the responses I got. How ridiculous of me to turn bearish on those names! FCEL, PLUG, ZBB, and BLDP were all flying high, and obviously since they soared over the course of the two weeks leading up to that date, they could only keep going higher forever.

  • [By James E. Brumley]

For those of you that were lucky enough to read, and act on, my bullish call on ZBB Energy Corporation (NYSEMKT:ZBB) penned one week ago (almost to the hour), then congratulations – you’re up 270%, give or take. Now get out. Seriously. I have a funny feeling that ZBB along with FuelCell Energy Inc. (NASDAQ:FCEL), Ballard Power Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:BLDP), and all the other names in the alternative electricity-production group are seeing their last hurrah today. The smart money is already thinking about getting out now, selling into the strength all the late-comers are creating for FCEL, BLDP, and its peers.

  • [By Anthony Mirhaydari]

For now, I continue to recommend investors maintain a cautious stance, focusing on the buying interest coming into safe-haven assets like U.S. Treasury bond and precious metals while booking profits in biotech stocks that have been red hot this month. The leveraged Direxion 3x Treasury Bond Bull (TMF) is up nearly 7% in my Edge Letter Sample Portfolio since it was added on Jan. 10. I just sold Tower Hill Mines (THM) and Rosetta Genomics (ROSG) for gains of 46% and 18% respectively.

  • [By Bryan Murphy]

With no revenues, and therefore no profits, International Tower Hill Mines Ltd (NYSEMKT:THM) shouldn’t qualify as “investment worthy” in any way, shape, or form. Indeed, the near-100% loss that THM shares have suffered since early 2011 might scare off even the gutsiest of traders. Yet, there’s something undeniably bullish about this stock right now.

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

A pharmaceutical player that’s starting to trend within range of triggering a big breakout trade is IntelliPharmaCeutics (IPCI), which specializing in the research, development and manufacture of generic controlled-release and targeted-release oral solid dosage drugs. This stock has been on fire over the last three months, with shares up a whopping 99%.

If you take a look at the chart for IntelliPharmaCeutics, you’ll notice that this stock has been uptrending a bit over the last few weeks, with shares moving higher from its low f $3.12 to its recent high of $4.37 a share. During that uptrend, shares of IPCI have been making mostly higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That move has now pushed shares of IPCI within range of triggering a big breakout trade above some key overhead resistance levels.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in IPCI if it manages to break out some near-term overhead resistance levels at $4.37 to $4.62 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 1.31 million shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then IPCI will set up to re-test or possibly take out its 52-week high at $6.46 a share.

Traders can look to buy IPCI off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below some key near-term support levels at $3.36 or at its 50-day moving average of $3.13 a share. One could also buy IPCI off strength once it starts to take out those breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.

Analysts see a profit of 55 cents a share out of the chain, roughly in line with what it earned a year earlier. The same pros see revenue climbing 8 percent for the quarter. Tuesday — Diamond in the Rough Diamond Foods (DMND) is a nutty company, and not just because it’s the company behind Emerald snack nuts. The company — which also puts out Kettle potato chips and Pop Secret microwaveable popcorn — is just starting to bounce back from an accounting scandal that ended earlier this year with a $5 million settlement to put an end to fraud charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission. The timing for the irregularities was cruel, forcing Diamond Foods to forgo the planned purchase of the Pringles potato chip line. Now it may have to sell its Kettle line to raise money. There’s a “when the chips are down” punchline in there somewhere, but we’ll see if Diamond Foods discusses any potential asset sales when it reports financials on Tuesday. Wednesday — Time to Enjoy the Doughnuts When it comes to doughnuts, it’s hard to top the fried delicacies that Krispy Kreme (KKD) creates. You don’t even need to have one of its doughnut shops nearby since it has a wide distribution net. Krispy Kreme reports on Wednesday afternoon, and Wall Stree

Many American oil and gas investors are probably familiar with the major large and small cap players in the Bakken formation in North Dakota and Montana, but few American investors are probably familiar with the active players further to the north in the oil and gas rich Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta with small cap stocks like Alexander Energy Ltd (CVE: ALX), Renegade Petroleum Ltd (CVE: RPL) and Centor Energy Inc (OTCBB: CNTO) along with large cap Suncor Energy Inc (NYSE: SU) being among those pumping out their share of noteworthy news lately. I should point out that Canada’s oil reserves are ranked #3 after to Venezuela and Saudi Arabia with over 95% of these reserves being the controversial oil sands of Alberta while the neighboring province of Saskatchewan (which the Bakken formation actually stretches into) along with offshore areas of Newfoundland also containing substantial production and reserves. Moreover and excluding the oil sands, Alber ta would have 39% of Canada’s remaining conventional oil reserves, followed by offshore Newfoundland with 28% and Saskatchewan with 27%.

Back in 1967, Suncor Energy (SU) first pioneered the commercial development of Canada’s oil sands. Today, SU is one of the largest land-holders in the Athabasca oil sands, and the integrated oil stock continues to have record energy production in the region. That leadership position continues today with its advanced techniques for tapping its bounty.

It’s not often that a Warren Buffett buy falls in price. But that is happening now with Suncor Energy (NYSE: SU).

That is one of three main reasons why investors should take advantage of the falling price of the Canadian major oil and natural gas firm.

Mercadolibre (MELI): The name of the company is Spanish for “free market,” and I think of MELI as the eBay (EBAY) of Latin America. Online shopping is growing at a faster rate in Latin America as the middle class continues to grow, and Brazil is one of the hot spots. Ecommerce in Brazil reached $17 billion in 2012, according to eMarketer, and that number is expected to jump to $29 billion by the end of 2017 as smartphone usage increases and more people access the Internet. Mercadolibre operates ecommerce sites where items are sold either through auction or a fixed price. MELI also has an electronic payment business called MercadoPago, similar to eBay’s PayPal, which can be used on MELI’s sites as well as for payments elsewhere. We took profits in it earlier this year in my GameChangers newsletter, but I continue to watch it closely and like its long-term potential.
