Top 10 Life Sciences Stocks To Invest In Right Now

U.S. stock futures inched higher today in the wake of a terror attack in France and a string of strong earnings from banks. The big question today remains whether the S&P 500 can hit a new record high for the fifth straight day. That would mark the first perfect week for the index since 1998.

The S&P futures inched 0.02% to 2157.75. The Dow futures climbed 0.04% and the Nasdaq gains 0.01%.

Herbalife (HLF) surged 12.1%. The WSJ reports that the company is to pay $200 million in a settlement with the FTC that will allow it to avoid being classified as a pyramid scheme. The deal would be a victory in its long-running battle with activist investor William Ackman.

In the financial world, several megabanks posted quarterly financial results. Citigroup (C) rose 0.8% after the megabank reported quarterly earnings and revenue that easily beat analysts’ expectations on Friday.

Wells Fargo (WFC) fell 1% after revenue missed expectations amid low interest rates, overshadowing inline EPS of $1.01.

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By STOCKPICKR]

We’re starting things off with Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASX), a Taiwan-based chipmaker. Overwhelmingly, overseas stocks have been lagging the broad market here at home — but that hasn’t been the case at Advanced Semiconductor. In fact, this $10 billion chip stock is up more than 30% since the calendar flipped to January. But investors should think about taking their gains here; ASX is starting to look toxic for your portfolio.

That’s because ASX is currently forming a descending triangle pattern, a bearish price setup that’s formed by downtrending resistance above shares, and horizontal support to the downside at $5.80. Basically, as ASX bounces in between those two technical price levels, it’s getting squeezed closer to a breakdown below its $5.80 price floor — if that line in the sand gets violated, then Advanced Semiconductor is a sell.

For short sellers, the most recent high at the $6.40 level is a logical place to park a protective stop.
