Hot China Stocks For 2019

What’s Next: The Global Ride-Share War: China’s Didi Chuxing has launched its first service outside China in the Mexican city of Toluca — the first offensive maneuver in its bid against Uber for global domination of the transportation market.

Sign up for PACIFIC: The new CNNMoney newsletter about the center of change and innovation

State of play:

• Didi forced Uber out of China in 2016. Uber then retreated from Southeast Asia this year, refocusing on the U.S., Europe and Latin America.

• Didi pursued Uber across the Pacific, buying Brazilian ride-share startup 99 in January and launching in Mexico, one of Uber’s largest markets.

• Didi plans to launch in other cities in Mexico, where Uber has an 87% share of the country’s ride-hailing market, per my colleague Sherisse Pham.

What’s More: Didi is in talks for a multibillion-dollar IPO as early as this year that could value the company at $70 to $80 billion, per WSJ’s Julie Steinberg.

Hot China Stocks For 2019: Starbucks Corporation(SBUX)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Logan Wallace]

Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) and GREENE KING PLC/S (OTCMKTS:GKNGY) are both retail/wholesale companies, but which is the better stock? We will contrast the two companies based on the strength of their institutional ownership, earnings, dividends, profitability, analyst recommendations, valuation and risk.

  • [By Demitrios Kalogeropoulos]

It’s too early to call it a comeback, but Starbucks’ (NASDAQ:SBUX) business is clearly on the mend. The coffee titan just opened its new fiscal year by continuing — and in some cases improving on — the encouraging trends that drove its strong close to fiscal 2018.

  • [By Jeremy Bowman]

For a long time, Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) has billed itself as a “third place” for customers — a place aside from the home and workplace where they can feel welcome. However, that notion came under assault just weeks ago when two black men were arrested for “trespassing” in a Philadelphia Starbucks as they refused to order anything, though they were waiting for a friend in the cafe. The two men were detained for nine hours, and the news sparked outrage and calls for boycotts against the coffee chain.

  • [By Demitrios Kalogeropoulos]

Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) has a lot going for it as an investment. The coffee chain controls one of the world’s most valuable consumer brands, for one. Some customers make several visits to its cafes each day, and they usually don’t mind paying up for premium beverage products.

Top 5 Low Price Stocks To Watch For 2019

Ford (NYSE:F) is known for its attractive valuation, it currently trades at around 7 times its 2017 projected earnings and has an attractive dividend yield of 5.36 percent. It also has a very low price-to-earnings ratio (P/E) compared to most other companies on the S&P 500. The stock trades at around $11 during the time I am writing this. However, after digging a little deeper, I have found that the future looks bearish for Ford.

The automobile industry is known to be a very cyclical industry and I, along with many other people, believe that the cycle has peaked after years of high demand. We are witnessing a downtrend in automobile demand. In March, US auto sales fell 1.6 percent; 1.56 million cars and trucks were sold in March, falling below the projected sales of 1.62 million cars and trucks. Sales are down 1.6 percent compared to the same month last year. Ford only sold 236,250 cars; this is a 7 percent decrease in sales compared to the prior month.

Top 5 Low Price Stocks To Watch For 2019: Shopify Inc.(SHOP)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Leo Sun]

Shares of Shopify (NYSE:SHOP) slipped 4% on May 22 aftercloud-services giant Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE) agreed to buy its competitor Magento for $1.68 billion. Like Shopify, Magento is a “one-stop shop” that helps merchants digitize their businesses with websites, ads, payment services, analytics, logistics, and customer relationship-management channels.

Shopify (NYSE:SHOP)keeps growing briskly as a platform for budding and established online merchants, and shareholders are going along for the ride. Shares of Shopify soared 9% last week, moving higher after another blowout financial performance. The stock initially moved lower on Tuesday following the report, only to roar back into investor fancy later in the week.

  • [By Rick Munarriz]

Shares of Shopify (NYSE:SHOP) are hitting new all-time highs again this week, but it doesn’t mean that the coast is clear for investors. Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) is beefing up the safeguards on its site when it comes to fraudulent or incompetent e-commerce advertisers, and it’s easy to see how Shopify’s business could be in its crosshairs.

Hot Bank Stocks To Buy Right Now

Stocks tumbled again today with falling oil prices getting the blame. But who are we kidding? Volatility begets more volatility, and that’s what we seem to have on our hands.

Michael Nagle/Bloomberg News

The S&P 500 dropped 1.5% to 2,127.02 today, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 258.32, or 1.4%. The Nasdaq Composite finished off 1.1% to 5,155.25.

Remember yesterday, a dovish Fed Governor helped stocks shoot higher. Deutsche Bank’s Alan Ruskin finds it interesting that it hasn’t had a bigger impact:

On the surface, the interesting aspect of the deflated set of Fed hike expectations is how little this has helped global risk appetite. However, it is hard to prove the counterfactual on what equities would have done had market expectations of a hike been on the rise post-Brainard – but very likely risky assets would have been meaningfully weaker. Nonetheless, the message from the way risk has traded is that for risky assets to rally they seem to need more than a dovish Fed. From a technical standpoint that probably means the S&P regaining its breakdown closing low levels ~2170 as a prerequisite for the global risk rally to resume momentum.

Hot Bank Stocks To Buy Right Now: US Ecology, Inc.(ECOL)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ethan Ryder]

US Ecology (NASDAQ: ECOL) and Republic Services (NYSE:RSG) are both business services companies, but which is the superior stock? We will compare the two companies based on the strength of their dividends, analyst recommendations, risk, profitability, institutional ownership, valuation and earnings.

  • [By Maxx Chatsko]

Success can be defined as small wins that accumulate over time. That definition helps to put the slow-and-steady progress made by US Ecology (NASDAQ:ECOL) in the first quarter of 2018 into perspective. Revenue and profits grew for both of the environmental services leader’s segments compared to the prior-year period, which resulted in another solid quarter.

After hitting a distinct bottom early in the last week, silver prices have already bounced back impressively despite ongoing U.S. dollar strength. After starting May near $16.25, the price of silver rallied to a high near $16.47 last week.

The other challenge that silver faced was the news the market awaited from the FOMC meeting on Wednesday, May 2. After the meeting, the committee announced that it would not be hiking interest rates and said inflation continues to move higher.

After peaking on Tuesday, May 1, the gold/silver ratio has quietly begun trending downward once again. I think this is in recognition of silver’s underperformance and undervalued state relative to gold.

On Tuesday, our Under the Radar Moversnewsletter suggestedshorting small cap data storage systems stock Qualstar Corporation (NASDAQ: QBAK):

Quelstar is essentially a mirror image of Pixelworks. That is, it’s not just the bearish undertow we want to tap into here. It’s the failure of QBAK to follow-through on today’s effort to break above the 100-day moving average line with today’s early effort. The market dared the bulls to play their hand, and as it turns out, they were bluffing. The sheer scope of the reversal bar in the meantime today confirms the downtrend.

The firm has initiated coverage on GPS with a “Neutral” rating and $42 price target. This price target suggests a 4% increase from Friday’s closing price of $40.39.

Analyst Simeon Siegel commented: “With top- and bottom-line resurgence, there is no question this has been the year (and-a-half) to own The Gap (GPS). But interestingly, FY12 total sales were still below FY04 levels, suggesting that through improvedproduct, the new global focus on the top line, and views on an omni-channel perspective on inventory; GPS has room to drive the company to new heights. Valuation keeps us sidelined. We are projecting FY13/FY14 EPS estimates of $2.69/$3.00 versus the Street at $2.77/$3.06. Our $42 target price is based on 14x our FY14 estimate versus the peer group average 14x multiple and the companys historical average of 14.5x.”
