best shares to invest now: Smithfield Foods Inc.(SFD)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By John Udovich]

Thanksgiving is almost here but the exit of both Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation (NYSE: PPC) and Smithfield Foods (NYSE: SFD) to focus on their chicken or pork businesses (the latter was also acquired by the Chinese) leaves just two big Thanksgiving turkey stocks, Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: HRL) and Seaboard Corporation (NYSEAMEX: SEB), for investors to consider. According to the American Far Bureau, a 16-pound turkey will (on average) come in at a total of $22.74 this year or roughly $1.42 per pound for a decrease of 2 cents per pound or a total of 30 cents per whole turkey, compared to 2015. The price drop may be a transition back to the norm as the significant bird flu outbreak last year hurt the nations supply of both turkey and eggs.

Top 5 Value Stocks To Buy Right Now: Orbital ATK, Inc.(OA)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Lisa Levin]

Defense giant Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) confirmed Monday it will buy Orbital ATK Inc (NYSE: OA), the maker of the Pegasus rocket and a vast array of other aerospace and defense systems, in a $9.2 billion deal.

  • [By Jim Robertson]

Last Monday, U.S. defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) announced it would buy Orbital ATK Inc (NYSE: OA), a direct Aerojet Rocketdyne competitor, for about $7.8 billion (a 22% premium to Orbital’s Friday close) in a deal thatwill give it greater access to lucrative government contracts and expand its arsenal of missile defense systems and space rockets. While Northrop already has a significant presence in payloads, it has not had launcher capability, an area that Orbital brings for both space and missile defense. Orbital also has contracts with NASA and the U.S. Army. The all-cash transaction is the biggest in the defense sector in two years and comes ahead of planned upgrades of U.S. ballistic systems (as the saber rattling by North Korea continues), which are expected to drive demand for missiles.

Now consider that as of the last report, Americans owned 265 million guns — but fewer than 1 million silencers. That’s a huge market that American Outdoor Brands and Sturm, Ruger would love to sell into. Easing restrictions on silencer sales could have follow-on effects, too. Granting easier access to suppressors could reduce noise complaints at open-air shooting ranges, making it easier for such businesses to open, which would attract more customers, resulting in more ammunition being used, resulting in more ammunition being sold, resulting in more sales (and profits) for ammo makers such as Olin Corp (NYSE:OLN), Vista Outdoor (NYSE:VSTO), and Orbital ATK (NYSE:OA).

Top 5 Value Stocks To Buy Right Now: Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated(PEG)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Shauna O’Brien]

Jefferies announced on Tuesday that it has upgraded Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. (PEG).

The firm has lifted its rating on PEG from “Hold” to “Buy,” and has raised the company’s price target from $36 to $37. This price target suggests a 12% increase from the stock’s current price of $32.42.

Analyst Paul Fremont commented: “We are upgrading to Buy based on the improving outlook for regulatory approval of the company’s “Energy Strong” capital spending program.

“Each $1.0 billion of incremental spending will add an estimated $0.10 to PEG’s earnings. We assume that incremental spending is funded by debt and by incremental cash expected from the increasing gas basis differential between the Leidy hub and New Jersey. Our new estimates are considerably higher than consensus in 2014-16.”

Public Service Enterprise Group shares were mostly flat during pre-market trading Tuesday. The stock is up 6% YTD.

Cramer said he tried to buck this trend by investing in EOG Resources (EOG) and Marathon Oil (MRO) but was wrong on both counts. In the case of EOG, even having the best properties wasn’t enough to ward off the collapse in oil prices. Meanwhile, Marathon’s decision to spin off its refining business left it with no cushion to stem its losses.

Best High Tech Stocks To Own For 2019: ImmunoGen, Inc.(IMGN)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Lisa Levin]

In trading on Monday, healthcare shares were relative laggards, down on the day by about 0.51 percent. Meanwhile, top losers in the sector included Ligand Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: LGND), down 8 percent, and ImmunoGen, Inc. (NASDAQ: IMGN) down 7 percent.

  • [By Brian Orelli]

ImmunoGen (NASDAQ:IMGN) is up 15.6% at 3:35 p.m. EDT on no news. The stock price bump might be a carryover from yesterday’s upgrade by Leerink Partners. Or maybe it’s short-sellers buying to cover their shorts after yesterday’s move. Or maybe it’s just because it’s a biotech and the sun came up today. Who knows?

  • [By Brian Orelli]

ImmunoGen (NASDAQ:IMGN) is up 21.8% at 1:06 p.m. EST on no apparent news. Of course, it’s a biotech, so that’s often par for the course.

    So what

One possibility is that day traders are just doing their thing, following the momentum, which pushes the stock price higher. We’ll know in a few days if the share price returns to previous levels.

  • [By Sean Williams]

Shares of ImmunoGen (NASDAQ:IMGN), a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on finding cures for cancer with its proprietary antibody-drug conjugate platform, were rocketing higher by 29% as of 3 p.m. EST on Friday, apparently eager to ring in the new year with a bang.

Best High Tech Stocks To Own For 2019: National Grid Transco, PLC(NGG)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Travis Hoium]

National Grid (NYSE:NGG) came out with some interesting information last week, saying 2.4 GW of distributed solar was added in the U.K. between February 2016 and February 2017 and another 1.5 GW is expected in the next year. The U.K. isn’t exactly a hotbed for solar activity, but it’s growing as an important market.

  • [By WWW.MONEYSHOW.COM]

Among utilities, National Grid (NGG) is my best pick for 2017, as it’s an almost perfect hedge against uncertainty. It’s insulated from changes in government interest rates. It can be both an inflation hedge and a play on a strong dollar.

  • [By Lisa Levin]

Tuesday afternoon, the utilities sector proved to be a source of strength for the market. Leading the sector was strength from National Grid plc (ADR) (NYSE: NGG) and Dominion Resources, Inc. (NYSE: D).
