Top 5 High Tech Stocks To Watch For 2019

Home sellers are partying like it’s 2006.

Real estate prices posted an annual gain of 6.3% in February, according to the latest S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Indices.

On a national level, home prices are up 6.7% from their peak in July 2006, and have been rising continuously for the past 70 months.

“It’s getting increasingly difficult to be a buyer,” said Keith Gumbinger, vice president of HSH.com.

Home buyers in Seattle, Las Vegas and San Francisco are facing the biggest gains. Seattle prices rose the most with a 12.7% year-over-year price increase, while Las Vegas prices jumped 11.6%.

But so far exploding price increases haven’t stopped home buyers. Homes are still flying off the shelves.

For instance, the typical property in Seattle spent 29 days on the market in February, according to Realtor.com. In Vegas, time spent on the market was 42 days, and homes in San Francisco sell in just 21 days.

So who will get the loot? Believe it or not, more than half the House’s increase in funding (a $459 million increase compared to fiscal 2018) is going to science programs — $6.7 billion in total. And while the bill is short of specifics, this is money investors can probably expect will be going to satellite makers such as Boeing (NYSE:BA) and Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT), Northrop Grumman (NYSE:OA), and Maxar Technologies (NYSE:MAXR), also to satellite launchers such as SpaceX, and Boeing and Lockheed’s United Launch Alliance.

Warren Buffett’s penchant for picking great stocks for Berkshire Hathaway’s (NYSE:BRK-A) (NYSE:BRK-B) portfolio makes his quarterly stock picks must-know news for every long-term investor. • [By ]

Even the best-run businesses on the planet would find it difficult to control 92% of their markets, let alone increase that share over time. But auto supplier Gentex (NASDAQ:GNTX) is not most businesses. The company ended 2016 with a 92% market share in automatic-dimming rearview mirrors, then managed to edge that up to 93% one year later. Hardly exciting stuff, but good enough to earn a market cap in excess of $6 billion and deliver enough excess profit to hand shareholders a 1.9% dividend yield.

Top 10 High Tech Stocks To Invest In 2019

In no uncertain terms, Snap’s (NYSE:SNAP) first shot at hardware was an utter disaster in just about every way imaginable. Snap ordered far too many units, which resulted in inventory writedowns and other costs associated with canceling its purchase commitments with suppliers. Meanwhile, the company also lost money on each unit sold, and the product failed to generate any type of meaningful engagement. The percentage of Snaps that were created from Spectacles was a literal rounding error (I estimated it at 0.002% of all Snaps created in the year-ago quarter).

You’d think that with Snap’s newfound frugality, it would be proceeding cautiously with any new hardware efforts. Sadly, the Snapchat operator still hasn’t learned its lesson.

Snap ordered way too many of these. Image source: Snap.

There’s more where that came from

As first reported by Variety, the Federal Communications Commission has just published a regulatory filingthat references second-generation Spectacles. The filing describes a “wearable video camera” that Snap is currently working on but does not include other specific details regarding the product such as what it looks like or any other included features. One of the few details disclosed is faster Wi-Fi in the form of dual-band 802.11ac.

U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB) has long been one of the most efficient big banks in the United States. But the Minneapolis-based bank doesn’t approach efficiency in the same way that most of its competitors do. As opposed to focusing on expenses, U.S. Bancorp has minimized its efficiency ratio by driving revenue.

U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB) should be positioned to do well compared with the rest of the major banks in 2018 and beyond. The problem is that you would never know it if you only looked at its stock price. This is the largest regional bank in America, as well as the seventh largest bank in America by assets. Is it possible that all the good things and solid returns are more than fully reflected in the share price?

The stock market had a generally solid performance on Monday, with large-cap indexes posting modest gains even as benchmarks that track the changes of smaller stocks underperformed. The big news of the day came on the trade front, where the White House intervened to reverse previous policy with respect to Chinese smartphone giant ZTE in an apparent effort to gain favor with the world’s most populous nation and second-largest economic power. Investors looked for potential winners from the thawing of relations with China, but not all stocks were able to avoid significant losses. Top Blue Chip Stocks To Watch Right Now

One of the most difficult aspects of trading is timing the market. Odds are if you have been in the market over the past nine years, most likely you made some money. This bull market began in March of 2009, and 24/7 Wall St. is looking back to see how some major blue chip stocks compared to the broad markets over this time.

Back on March 6, 2009, the S&P 500 bottomed out at 666.79, and from there began perhaps the biggest bull market of the modern era. At the most recent close, the S&P 500 was at 2,677.67, more than quadrupling its bottom nearly nine years ago.

So how does Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE: GS) compare to the markets over the past nine years?

On an adjusted close basis, Goldman Sachs ended March 6, 2009, at $72.89 a share, or $81.72 on an unadjusted basis. Goldman Sachs most recently closed at $256.78 on an adjusted basis.

Checking the numbers, its fairly obvious that Goldman Sachss growth over this period has lagged the broad markets, with shares gaining only 250%. If you had invested $1,000 in Goldman Sachs back then, you would have just $3,522.84 as of Thursdays close.

Top Blue Chip Stocks To Watch Right Now: U.S. Bancorp(USB)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jon C. Ogg]

Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) leads a busy day of earnings reports. The company reported earnings per share (EPS) of $1.37 on top of $11.08 billion in revenue. Analysts projected EPS of $1.28 on top of $10.45 billion in revenue. Shares of MS stock popped 2.4% thanks to stronger profits (a 26% jump) from the company’s trading division. Recent market volatility has benefited the trading operations of Wall Street investment banks. Here’s how you can tap into volatility for big profits this week. Once again, markets are keeping a close eye on ongoing issues between the United States and its largest trading partners. According to reports, trade problems are expected to offset any gains projected from recent tax reform. The news comes as China is looking to get other U.S. trade partners to stand on their side and oppose American protectionism. Meanwhile, NAFTA officials are set to meet in Washington in order to accelerate the renegotiation of the three-nation trade agreement. This news comes the same morning that U.S. President Donald Trump took to Twitter to bash the Trans-Pacific Partnership. “While Japan and South Korea would like us to go back into TPP, I don’t like the deal for the United States,” he tweeted. Trump recently raised the possibility that the United States could join the 11-nation deal. Farming groups have been pushing Trump to rejoin the treaty due to the competitive disadvantage they will face against farmers in Canada, Mexico, and Australia, three member states of the deal.

Lloyd Blankfein, one of Wall Street’s most powerful players, is reportedly preparing to step down from his perch at Goldman Sachs as soon as the end of the year.

Blankfein has led Goldman Sachs (GS) for the past dozen years, guiding the investment bank back to success after a near-death experience during the financial crisis.

The 63-year-old will be leaving on his own terms, The Wall Street Journal reported. Blankfein will probably retire ahead of the bank’s 150th anniversary in 2019, or early that year, the paper reported.

Goldman Sachs declined to comment. Investors took the report in stride. Shares were mostly unchanged from their prices prior to the news.

The Wall Street firm expects to name one of its co-presidents, Harvey Schwartz and David Solomon, to succeed Blankfein, the Journal reported.

Goldman Sachs has been grooming Schwartz and Solomon for the top job ever since former president Gary Cohn left the bank last year to become President Trump’s top economic adviser. Cohn announced his resignation from the White House this week amid a clash over trade policy.

Top 10 Gold Stocks To Own Right Now: Seaspan Corporation(SSW)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Shares of Seaspan Corporation (NYSE:SSW) rallied 15% last month thanks to a bullish analyst note.

    So what

Seaspan’s stock bobbed around the flatline for most of April until an analyst at Deutsche Bank upgraded the containership leasing company from hold to buy toward the end of the month. What stood out was the $13 price target, which was 85% above the bank’s previous one of $7 a share. Driving that bullish view is the expectation that Seaspan’s ability to deleverage its balance sheet and increase the dividend would fuel substantial share price appreciation in the future.

Top 10 Gold Stocks To Own Right Now: Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (SSNLF)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

About Venmo. I don’t think it’s the game changer that many in the PayPal investment community think it is. It’s growing for sure but for me it is yet unproven and is the one point where Apple Pay (NASDAQ:AAPL), Samsung Pay (OTC:SSNLF) and potentially Square (NYSE: SQ) can actually land a punch. $9.4 billion in transaction volume last quarter and making it available in around two million U.S. retailers are signs of a growing business, but whether it will be used for retail purchases by its user base remains to be seen. I could be surprised on the upside in the coming 3-6 quarters. But as long as the company isn’t revealing the number of its users I won’t be holding my breath and including this in the factors that can contribute to sustained growth.

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

Now, this removes one big uncertainty (actually management was pretty convinced they would settle on favorable terms), but there are a few other headwinds that also led them to lower guidance when presenting Q3 figures:

In the low end of the mobile market (imaging) they are experiencing increasing competition. They are dealing with this by concentrating on more sophisticated and integrated solutions and narrowing the strategic focus (this is already starting to pay off with design wins like the Huawei Mate 10). For now they expect imaging revenues to be at least $10M lower. The probability of recognizing revenue from Echo, a significant mobile customer for audio technologies, has progressively declined as well. Samsung (OTC:SSNLF) IP licensing is removed from the guidance as they are litigating the company for patent infringement. Management is convinced of a favorable outcome here as well (they embarked on extensive DD prior to filing), but unsure of the timing. Management believes at least $10M in licence revenues has been underreported, but likely resolution will shift this income to 2018. Roughly $5M in expected license revenue from Invensas Licensees will shift to 2018 Guidance excludes roughly $52M in cash receipts which the company can’t recognize as revenue under purchase accounting related to the DTS acquisition (see below for an explanation). This is why cash flow figures are much better than earnings figures.

These are all somewhat messy litigation and compliance issues, but at least the Broadcom issue has been settled and much of the rest is likely to shift to 2018. About the Purchase Accounting. From company PR:

However, the strength of recent memory earnings and the commentary from industry players suggest that the cycle still has a long way to go. Samsung (OTC:SSNLF), in particular, noted after posting strong memory results that it’s focused on maximizing profits in its memory division rather than market share. This means that, unlike the last cycle, the major manufacturers could be showing a bit more restraint in production to keep prices and margins elevated. High pricing for memory modules, of course, is one of the major drivers behind Western Digital’s success over the past year.
