After its $8.5 billion spin-merger of its Enterprise Service business with Computer Sciences Corp. last quarter, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE:HPE) has just announced an $8.8 billion deal to spin-merge its non-core software assets with Micro Focus. Hybrid cloud will be the focus for the new HP Enterprise while HP Inc. (NYSE:HPQ) continues to struggle with declining printing revenues.
1. Toshiba shares tank: Shares in Toshiba (TOSYY) dropped 12% in Japan on Tuesday after the company warned it’s expecting billion of dollars in losses related to its takeover of a nuclear business last year.
The losses come as Toshiba recovers from an accounting scandal that was discovered in April 2015. The company was found to be overstating profits for years.
The prime beneficiary of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries decision to cut production are domestic producers in the Permian Basin. One such firm is WPX Energy (NYSE:WPX) that made a risky acquisition in the area back in 2015 that is starting to pay off big time.
