Top 5 Tech Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Square, Inc.(SQ)

Advisors’ Opinion:

Person-to-person payments app Zelle certainly has its advantages, especially that it is integrated into many big banks’ online and mobile platforms and doesn’t require any separate account. However, rival apps like Venmo and Square (NYSE:SQ) Cash don’t seem to be losing much ground to it.

  • [By Keith Noonan]

Square Inc. (NYSE:SQ) stock climbed 37.1% in August, according to data provided by S&P Global Market Intelligence. The payment-processing company’s price actually trended down in the after-hours trading following its earnings release on Aug. 1, but this reversed in the next day of trading and shares went on to post huge gains in the month.

  • [By Joseph Griffin]

Square (NYSE:SQ)‘s stock had its “buy” rating reissued by stock analysts at Stifel Nicolaus in a research note issued on Wednesday. They presently have a $100.00 target price on the technology company’s stock. Stifel Nicolaus’ target price would suggest a potential upside of 17.92% from the company’s previous close.

Hanson: Yeah, exactly. This is where the General Millses and the Posts of the world are getting hurt. This is a very long-winded way of coming around to the fact that I think Square (NYSE:SQ) had a really nice quarter. Companies like Square and Shopify are the ones powering this hyperfragmentation. And, obviously, the ones that are benefiting are the Instagrams and the Twitters and the Facebooks, where they’re doing a lot of their advertising and finding their customers.

Top 5 Tech Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Textainer Group Holdings Limited(TGH)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

That volatility has been evident at both Textainer Group Holdings Ltd. (NYSE:TGH) and Nordic American Tankers Ltd. (NYSE:NAT) in recent years. Because of that, investors need to weigh their upside in a recovering market against the downside potential before choosing either stock.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Last year was one that investors in Textainer Group Holdings (NYSE:TGH) will likely remember fondly as the container leasing company’s stock rocketed an eye-popping 188%. This year, however, has been a different story as shares are down nearly 30% since the beginning of the year, and more than 40% off their high. That sell-off might have investors wondering if now’s a good time to buy.

Textainer Group (NYSE: TGH) is one of 17 publicly-traded companies in the “Equipment rental & leasing, not elsewhere classified” industry, but how does it contrast to its rivals? We will compare Textainer Group to similar companies based on the strength of its analyst recommendations, valuation, institutional ownership, profitability, earnings, dividends and risk.

  • [By Reuben Gregg Brewer]

Although Textainer Group Holdings Limited (NYSE:TGH) and Teekay Corporation (NYSE:TK) are both focused on the shipping industry, they go about it in vastly different ways. Both companies were hit hard by industry downturns, but Textainer started to see a notable improvement in its container business in 2017. Teekay’s collection of ship-owning businesses in the energy sector, on the other hand, continued to struggle overall — but signs seem to point to an upturn this year. Which one is the better buy today?

Top 10 Value Stocks To Watch Right Now

Legacy Reserves (NASDAQ:LGCY) is a company that I’ve discussed in reports for Distressed Value Investing. While its prospects have improved with higher oil prices, there is still a fair amount of concern about the company’s high amount of leverage. Due to its hedges and a widening WTI Midland to WTI Cushing differential, Legacy’s estimated realized prices for oil in 2018 and 2019 have only improved around $2-2.50 per barrel over the last month and a half, compared to an $8-9 increase in WTI Cushing strip prices. This means that Legacy’s projected cash flow isn’t benefiting much from the higher oil prices, and after its downward revision in production guidance, the company may not be able to pay down debt in 2018 or 2019 (assuming its current capital expenditure budget).

This high amount of leverage has left its unsecured notes yielding approximately 13-14% to maturity, which indicates still significant concern about restructuring. I’ve estimated that Legacy’s assets are worth less than $6 per share (assuming that its C-Corp conversion goes through), and that based on its bond prices, a fair price may be under $4 per share to allow for the restructuring risk.

Square Inc’s (NYSE:SQ) first-quarter earnings provided the latest confirmation that the company was firing on all cylinders. In its first quarter, Square’s adjusted revenue and adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) jumped 51% and 33% year over year, respectively. Further, it’s not just one or two products driving Square’s growth. Jack Dorsey Endorses Bitcoin, WSJ Finds Signs Of Crypto Fraud Everywhere

The cryptocurrency market continued its rough week on Thursday, with most major currencies trading down more than 1 percent on the day. Here’s a look at some of the headlines that were moving the cryptocurrency market today, and which currencies were on the move.

Headlines

The big news from the CoinDesk Consensus conference on Wednesday was the talk by Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) and Square Inc (NYSE: SQ) CEO Jack Dorsey. Dorsey said there will ultimately be a native internet currency, and the adoption of bitcoin or another crypto as a global currency would help Square expand its services into new markets. Dorsey said he is a “huge fan” of bitcoin and hopes it ends up as the universal digital currency.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that, after reviewing 1,450 digital currencies, it found 271 cryptocurrencies that had evidence of fraudulent activity. Nearly one out of every five currencies the Journal investigated utilized fake executive information, plagiarized documents, fabricated development team credentials or other misleading information in an attempt to raise money from unsuspecting investors.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has completed an ICO of a satirical cryptocurrency called HoweyCoin as part of an effort to warn investors about the dangers of investing in cryptos. The HoweyCoin website was set up to demonstrate to investors how easy it is to get duped into the many scam currencies that have popped up in recent months, and the site links to an educational page about how to avoid crypto scams.

Price Action

The Bitcoin Investment Trust GBTC (OTC: GBTC) traded at $13.62, down 0.9 percent.

Here’s how several top crypto investments fared Thursday. Prices are as of 3:45 p.m. ET and reflect the previous 24 hours.

Ethereum declined 1.8 percent to $686;
Ripple declined 1.9 percent to 67 cents;
Bitcoin Cash declined 3.9 percent to $1,225;
EOS gained 3.4 percent to $12.79.

The three cryptocurrencies with at least $1-million market caps that have made the biggest gains over the past 24 hours are:

Top 5 Warren Buffett Stocks To Buy For 2019

The cost of providing health insurance to a companys employees grew nearly 7% last year, extending not only a long-standing streak of rising costs, but accelerating that trend. Indeed, between 2002 and 2016, the average amount of money a family of four spent on health care each year grew a whopping 180%.

Putting it bluntly: Regardless of whos paying the bill (and how), health care has become expensive.

Its not surprising, then, that corporations that are at least partially responsible for providing employees with health insurance are finally pushing back against an industry that has had little incentive to contain costs.

What is surprising is the collection of strange bedfellows that are uniting to stop unbridled health-care costs: Amazon.com (AMZN, $1,450.89), Warren Buffetts Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B, $214.38) and mega-bank JPMorgan Chase (JPM, $115.67). The trio just announced a joint venture intended to check the rise in health costs while concurrently enhancing patient satisfaction and outcomes.

One of the growth opportunities that chip giantIntel(NASDAQ:INTC) is pursuing is the rapidly expanding market for non-volatile memory products, which includes NAND flash (a type of computer memory commonly used for fast, efficient storage), as well as 3D XPoint, a unique technology that Intel helped to create for customers who want storage that’s even faster than NAND flash.

This business unit is called Intel’s non-volatile memory solutions group (NSG).

Let’s go over how this business performed in the first quarter of 2018 and put that into the context of Intel’s long-term prospects.

  • [By ]

The stock market has been a bit volatile this year, but there are some sectors that are still experiencing significant share price gains. For example, the Nasdaq 100 Technology Sector is up about 22% over the past 12 months. Those gains are pretty impressive, but a handful of tech stocks, including Square (NYSE:SQ) and Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), have seen their share prices jump about five times as much.

Top 10 Tech Stocks To Own For 2019: Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.(CHKP)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Chris Lange]

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.s (NASDAQ: CHKP) short interest decreased to 8.24 million shares from the previous reading of 8.45 million. Shares were trading at $102.91, in a 52-week range of $95.03 to $119.20.

  • [By Harsh Chauhan]

Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ:CHKP) plies its trade in the fast-growing cybersecurity market — a market that’s expected to hit $96 billion in revenue this year, an increase of 8% over 2017, accordingto Gartner’s estimates. However, one look at the cybersecurity specialist’s recent performance indicates that it hasn’t been able to capitalize on that vast potential.

  • [By Nicholas Rossolillo]

For investors looking for a cybersecurity stock, I think a bigger security company like Palo Alto Networks or Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ:CHKP) would be a better option. At this juncture, I think FireEye’s high expenditures and sluggish revenue growth outweigh the potential benefits of buying the stock.

Last year, the company launched its latest generation of sequencing machines, and since those machines can sequence genes faster, more accurately, and at a lower cost, increasing demand for consumables used in gene sequencing propelled revenue 31% higher year over year to $782 million.

Since 2010, Illumina’s revenue has been up over 250%, and in the past five years, the company’s adjusted earnings per share has grown by a compounded 20% annually. That’s impressive, but I think we’ll see demand grow even more as innovation drives the cost of gene sequencing down further. New deals with drugmakers to develop companion diagnostics could help make genetic analysis critical to treating complex diseases, such as cancer, and if gene sequencing becomes standard, then Illumina’s could be one of the best stocks to stash away in forever portfolios.

Intriguing acquisition

Daniel Miller (The Boeing Co.):When investors are holding stocks for decades, you can aim for young companies poised to thrive with upcoming trends or a proven company that will be around for ages. The Boeing Co. is a clear candidate for the latter in a world with increasing air traffic and competitive advantages — and the aircraft juggernaut just got even better.

In addition to a strong quarterly report, last month Boeing announced it would buy aerospace parts company KLX Inc. for roughly $3.2 billion in cash to expand its aircraft services business. It’s an intriguing move for investors as it won’t immediately add to Boeing’s capital expenditures strategy and will generate roughly $70 million in cost savings by 2021. But the real treat of this acquisition is that it will provide a significant boost to Boeing’s higher-margin services and spare parts business — management intends to compete and win in a $2.6 trillion 10-year services market.

Even before considering how that acquisition can add to growth and margins, Boeing was already a great stock to own for decades, given that it anticipates the need for 41,000 commercial aircraft deliveries over the next two decades for an estimated $6.1 trillion. As the cherry on top, holding Boeing over a few decades will allow you to collect a rapidly increasing dividend payment.

So, if there’s a proven and stable stock worth owning for decades, Boeing should be at the top of that list.

The future of digital payments

Leo Sun (Square): Square is disrupting the traditional point-of-sale (POS) systems market with next-gen payment solutions — including Square Reader, a credit card-reading dongle for smartphones; Square Stand, which converts iPads into POS systems; and Square Register, which evolves the Stand into a stand-alone POS unit.

Square tethers those merchants to its expanding digital ecosystem, which includes its business analytics and CRM tools, its peer-to-peer payments platform Square Cash, its restaurant delivery and catering services Caviar and Zesty, its website creation platform Weebly, and Square Capital — which offers financing for Square merchants.

Demand for Square’s products and services has been surging. Last quarter, gross payment volume (GPV) across its platform rose 31% annually to $17.8 billion, and its adjusted revenue jumped 51% to $307 million. Square expects adjusted revenue to climb 44% this year. Square’s adjusted EBITDA rose 33% annually to $36 million last quarter. For the full year, Square expects its adjusted EBITDA to surge 76%.

The bears often argue that Square’s growth could be throttled by competitors in digital payments like PayPal, mobile players like Apple, and first-party payment platforms from companies like former partner Starbucks. Square certainly shouldn’t dismiss those threats, but its first mover’s advantage and incredible growth give it a fairly wide moat.

Over the next few decades, Square could evolve into a one-stop shop for digitizing and maintaining a business. That makes it a very lucrative stock to own for the long run.

2 Tech Stocks Up 100% Over The Past Year

The stock market has been a bit volatile this year, but there are some sectors that are still experiencing significant share price gains. For example, the Nasdaq 100 Technology Sector is up about 22% over the past 12 months. Those gains are pretty impressive, but a handful of tech stocks, including Square (NYSE:SQ) and Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), have seen their share prices jump about five times as much.

With company returns as high as 100% over the past year, it’s worth taking a closer look at what Square and Netflix are doing so well, if they can keep the momentum going, and one hurdle each of them faces that investors should be on the lookout for.

Square: Up 176% Over The Past 12 months
Square supplies point-of-sale (POS) terminals to merchants, offers mobile payment services, has a popular peer-to-peer payment app called Square Cash, provides small business loans through Square Capital, and has its own online food ordering business, called Caviar.

Square’s share price has seen astronomical gains over the past 12 months as the company has grown its sales and client base. Net revenue was up 36% year over year in the fourth quarter, and the company’s gross payment volume (the total amount processed through its payment systems) grew by 31% to $17.9 billion. Investors have also been impressed with the company’s ability to increase its EBITDA, which jumped 38% in Q4 to $41 million and 33% year over year to $36 million in Q1.

Square makes the vast majority of its revenue from payment transactions on its platform, but the company’s other businesses offer additional opportunities as well. For example, its mobile payment Cash app now has 7 million monthly active users. Square is also growing its subscription and services revenue, which was up 95% in 2017; the segment now accounts for 11% of Square’s total sales (up from just 8% in 2016).

So can Square keep the momentum going? The company has a few things working in its favor, including the fact that it’s adding larger customers on its platform. Companies selling $125,000 or less per year accounted for 53% of the company’s gross payment volume (GPV) in the fourth quarter of 2017. Customers spending $500,000 or more annually make up 20% of GPV, up from 13% two years ago. Square is also doing a good job building out a payment ecosystem by selling everything from the hardware (payment terminals) to point-of-sale software, its mobile Cash app, lending services, and even its food delivery business.

But Square isn’t without its risks, of course. Investors should keep a close eye on what some of the company’s competitors are doing with mobile payments and point-of-sale services. Both Intuit and PayPal offer similar services. Square is building a strong brand right now, but it doesn’t have an economic moat around its business yet. For many merchants, especially smaller ones, the switching costs are pretty low for them to jump to another payment processor. That’s not to say Square’s a bad investment, but investors should know that the company still faces lots of competition in this growing market.

Netflix: Up 111% Over The Past 12 Months
Netflix has built itself into a video-streaming powerhouse and now boasts more than 125 million members. The company is experiencing substantial user growth as it expands into international markets. Netflix’s non-U.S. streaming subscribers now account for 54% of the company’s paid subscribers, and in the first quarter of 2018 the company increased paid international subscribers by 42% year over year.

Investors have also been happy to see the company’s sales and earnings continue to spike. Revenue was up more than 40% in the most recent quarter to $3.7 billion, and diluted earnings per share of $0.64 were up 60% from the year-ago quarter, which far outpaced any of the company’s quarterly earnings in 2017. Net income also increased about 63% year over year to $290 million.

Netflix is facing an increase in competition on several fronts, most recently from Disney’s (NYSE:DIS) announcement that it will bring its own content streaming service to market sometime this year. Disney has a war chest of old movies and shows, along with owning massive content franchises like Star Wars and Marvel, which could make Disney’s service a strong contender for people’s money.

But Netflix will likely be able to fend off Disney, and other players including Amazon and Hulu, because of its treasure trove of user data. For years, Netflix has been collecting users’ viewing habits (everything from what we watch and when we watch it) so it can create original content and purchase programming it knows its members will love. Tapping into this data allows Netflix to create a network effect that keeps its users watching more Netflix content, and thus supplying it with more viewing data.

Netflix is spending a lot of money — between $7.5 billion and $8 billion in 2018 — on content, and that’s up from $6 billion last year. Some of this spending comes from Netflix shelling out cash to create shows that will appeal to viewers in local international markets. The company’s subscriber growth shows that spending all of this cash is paying off, but investors should keep an eye on these expenses to see if they continue to climb. At some point, the company should be able to curb spending a bit, or at least let it stabilize, once it’s built up enough original content. But Netflix’s current collection of original content, and its ability to know what its users want to watch, should help it continue dominating the content streaming space for years to come.

Keep This In Mind
Investors should remember that just because Netflix and Square have performed well over the past year doesn’t mean they’ll do well in the future. If you’re interested in investing in these two companies, make sure you’re not doing it just because these stocks are on a tear right now.

The final REIT type I like right now is self-storage, particularly Extra Space Storage (NYSE:EXR).

First, I should mention that this could prove to be the most volatile company on the list. Self-storage isn’t as defensive as retail or healthcare simply because of its lease structure. Generally, you don’t sign a multi-year lease on a storage unit — you just pay each month that you want to keep it. This makes it easier for tenants to vacate the properties during tough times.

Top 10 Medical Stocks To Invest In 2019

&l;p&g;Health insurance should be as important as auto and homeowner&a;rsquo;s coverage, if not more so. As an entrepreneur in the fields of finance and insurance, I&a;rsquo;m always surprised when I work with professionals who haven&a;rsquo;t considered the costs of their health coverage when they retire.

Equally concerning are &l;a href=&q;https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/24/health-care-costs-in-retirement-can-top-275000.html&q; target=&q;_blank&q;&g;estimates&l;/a&g; that the average 65-year-old couple can expect health care costs of&a;nbsp;more than $275,000&a;nbsp;in their retirement years. Unless their retirement packages include ongoing coverage and they&a;rsquo;re eligible for supplemental insurance, many people risk spending the bulk of their retirement savings on the aftermath of a major medical event.

With some careful planning, it&s;s possible to avoid that dreary future and focus on enjoying retirement rather than the effect of potential claims on a fragile nest egg.

Top 10 Medical Stocks To Invest In 2019: Green Brick Partners, Inc.(GRBK)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jim Robertson]

On Monday, our Under the Radar Moversnewsletter suggestedgoing long on small cap homebuilder stockGreen Brick Partners (NASDAQ: GRBK):

For Green Brick Partners, we’re mainly feeding off of the hammer-shaped reversal bar from last week. That long-tailed low only had to kiss the 200-day moving average line (green) at $8.45 to kick-start a reversal, and we’ve seen some nice bullish follow-through so far. Ideally we’d like to see a move above the February ceiling around $9.90, but we fear waiting that long could leave us chasing it higher. See, what you can’t see on the chart (because it’s further back) is that GRBK is no stranger to multi-point runups. Based on its past runs, Green Brick Partners could be in the high teens before you even know it.

Susquehanna analyst Shyam Patil believes that while early interest could take SNAP stock to High 20’s or low 30’s, the long term looks bleak given the strong competition from Facebook (NASDAQ:FB). The analyst has a $22 price target with a ‘Neutral’ rating on the stock. The spate of negative commentary continued, with Needham’s Laura Martin writing “Prospect Theory would label SNAP a lottery-like stock. Sometimes lottery tickets do pay off.”The analyst went on to highlight several fundamental risks to the ‘Snap’ investment, which are often overlooked by short-term traders. The chief concern in the Needham’s commentary was the fact that Snapchat’s total addressable market (TAM) is 80% smaller than that of Facebook and the company already has a 50% penetration in its TAM in the United States. With Snapchat going in for a niche advertising strategy focussing on the biggest ad markets (US and Canada), this is certainly a key risk to Snapchat’s long-term topline growth.

Tech Stocks This Week: Apple Stock Hits New High, Snap Plummets, and More

This week included lots of volatility, as earnings season continued and the overall stock market fell more than 2% before recovering by the end of the week. Though the S&P 500 was down over 2% during intraday trading on Thursday, the index climbed sharply on Friday, leaving stocks about where they started.

Amid this volatile week, three stories in tech stood out.

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) stock soared to new highs after a solid second quarter and as Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathawayrevealed a larger stake in the company. Snap (NYSE:SNAP) stock plummeted as the company’s recent redesign for Snapchat dragged on results. Financial technology company Square (NYSE:SQ) saw its revenue growth accelerate again.

Apple stock jumps

On Tuesday afternoon, Apple announced the results for its second quarter of fiscal 2018, or the period ending March 31.The results beat expectations, sending shares about 5% higher on Wednesday. Apple’s second-quarter results highlighted strength across the company’s business as iPhone revenue climbed 14% year over year, services revenue jumped 31%, and other products revenue soared 38%.These strong drivershelped Apple’s total revenue and earnings per share rise 16% and 30%, respectively.

Apple stock gained even more steam later in the week when famed investor Warren Buffett said his company, Berkshire Hathaway, had increased its stake in Apple by 75 million shares during the first calendar quarter. Apple was already Berkshire’s biggest equity stake, but now the stake is worth more than its second- and third-largest holdings combined.

Apple shares finished the week up about 13%.

Snap plummets

Snap fell about 20%after it reported worse-than-expected revenue for its first quarter.Though revenue for the period increased 54%, to $231 million, the consensus analyst estimate was for $245 million.Revenue was down 19% sequentially. Management specifically cited its recent redesign for Snapchat as one of the reasons for the drop.

Just as worrisome as Snap’s lower-than-expected revenue was its underwhelming growth in daily active users. Snap users increased just 2% sequentially, making for Snap’s slowest-ever growth in the key metric. Snap finished the quarter with 191 million daily active users, well below a consensus analyst estimate for 194 million.

Snap stock finished the week down 25%.

Square accelerates

Square has been on a roll recently, consistently posting accelerating year-over-year revenue growth rates. The financial technology company, which makes most of its money from its transaction-based revenue on merchants’ gross payment volume, saw its momentum continue in its first quarter, as revenue growth accelerated yet again.

Square’s first-quarter revenue, adjusted to exclude transaction-based costs and the expenses associated with processing bitcoin trading, was up 51% year over year — a meaningful acceleration from 47% growth in the fourth quarter of 2017and 45% growth in Q3.

Square’s increasing appeal to larger sellers, or sellers generating more than $125,000 in annualized payment volume, played a key role in the company’s growth during the quarter, management explained in its first-quarter shareholder letter: “As these sellers use more products, we deepen our relationship with them, and they drive meaningful growth for Square: In the first quarter, total net revenue from larger sellers grew 47% year over year, and Adjusted Revenue from larger sellers grew 60% year over year.”

Square stock finished the week up 3%, outperforming the S&P 500’s flat performance.

Dont Worry: The Square Inc Stock Rally Is the Real Deal

In today’s market, Square Inc (NYSE:SQ) is an anomaly: a technology firm that’s performing very well. On a year-to-date basis, Square stock is up nearly 42%, a resounding triumph amid a sea of disappointment. In contrast, competitors in the payment apps industry, such as Paypal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:PYPL) and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), are decidedly muted.

Naturally, investors wonder if such momentum can last. I’m cautiously optimistic that it will. Unlike Apple, which has multiple and disparate businesses, SQ stock is a substantially more focused investment. And while PayPal is the dominant player in the online payment app arena, Square has the edge in providing a comprehensive solution for small businesses.

Of course, I don’t want to discount the pain in the broader markets, which has negatively impacted Square stock. For instance, the entire tech sector softened from mid-March due to several pessimistic catalysts, most notably the Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and Uber driverless technology controversies. In Square’s case, shares are down nearly 15% since the March 20 close.

At the same time, investors pushed up SQ stock for a reason. In fact, every indicator existed to run away from the markets, even from solid names. That just didn’t happen for SQ, which tells me that the positives outweigh the negatives.

Importantly, it’s not speculative optimism after which Wall Street chases. Small business sentiment is one of the bright spots this year, with entrepreneurs expecting more revenues and growth opportunities. Also, they’re reporting less difficulty in obtaining financing.

Naturally, this rising trend is a big boost for Square stock. But I’m even more intrigued with the finer details.

Square Stock Deserves Its Winning Ways

As I mentioned previously, the biggest advantage to using Square is its comprehensive platform. For signing up, you get a free credit card reader, which makes in-person transactions a snap. Along with that, you receive inventory management programs, as well as other administrative applications. It’s easily the best choice if you run a traditional business.

While rival PayPal maintains the edge for online businesses, the reality is that older generations are more entrepreneurial. small business owner demographics, Square stockSure, the hoodie-wearing hipster is the commonly portrayed image of the modern business owner. But the actual statistics state that 33% of small business owners are between 50 to 59 years old. Hoodie-wearers, or those between 18 and 29, represent a mere 4%.

It’s not much of a stretch to assume that older business owners prefer SQ. After all, these are folks that actually want to talk to their customers – not text them emojis. Square has the tools, comprehensiveness, and simplicity that most small entrepreneurs crave. We shouldn’t be surprised, then, how dominant Square stock is in the markets.

Also unsurprising is that in-person or traditional businesses are rapidly adopting mobile payment apps. According to an October 2017 survey, small business owners were more likely to integrate in-person mobile payments than they were to integrate online payment processing platforms.

This trend contradicts the common perception that companies are exclusively focusing on the online experience. Since most small business owners are older, Square has a much more viable market than analysts give them credit for. Again, chalk that up as a win for SQ stock.

Technicals Confirm the Fundamentals

Sometimes, we encounter situations where a fundamentally sound company experiences market distress. Perhaps investors haven’t quite digested the organization’s true potential, and share prices lag as a result. This is not at all the case with SQ stock.

Since the early summer of 2016, SQ has formed a consistently rising bullish trend channel. In addition, the 50 day moving average has supported the overall price action. I expect this trend to hold up, especially because the fundamentals are so strong.

With that said, my main caveat is the broader market weakness. It could continue to pressure even solid companies with great fundamentals, which is why I’m not completely gung-ho.

Ultimately, though, the longer-term picture is what you want to focus on. Consider initiating a small position in Square stock now, and start building up should prices decline. In a year or two from now, you’ll be glad you did.
