The U.S. dollar edged higher Tuesday, recovering from earlier weakness, but lost ground versus its partners in the North American Free Trade Agreement, following a report that President Donald Trump was looking for a renegotiated deal in principle in the next two weeks.

The stock market has been volatile over the past few months, partly thanks to President Donald Trump’s proposals for new tariffs aimed at China and other trading partners. However, patient investors can ride out the storm with three of my favorite dividend stocks –AT&T (NYSE:T), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), and Las Vegas Sands (NYSE:LVS).

Last week saw a plethora of bad economic news stateside, starting with continued weakness in inflation, consumer confidence, housing and manufacturing. The Fed followed their script and removed the expected amount of stimulus on the assumption that inflation and the U.S economy will improve.

As expected, the first day of the Farnborough Airshow was a busy one for the two major commercial jet makers. Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) announced orders for some 59 new passenger jets, while European rival Airbus said it took orders for 100 new planes. Not all these orders are new or firm.

With upward pressure on the pound abating, investors may find more to like in U.K. stocks.
For much of this year, currency appreciation — a drag on the overseas earnings of global stocks that dominate the FTSE 100 Index — has overshadowed the gauge. That burden eased on Friday as the government reported first-quarter growth figures that missed estimates, weakening the case for....More>>>
Energy Storage Agreements (ESAs) will upend the coal generating business. I have been traditionally skeptical of the concept pushed by greenies that wind and solar will replace coal and nuclear fuel, and that all we need are windmills and solar panels for as far as the eye can see. Their biggest challenge is the intermittent nature of their generating footprint vs. the grid’s base load requirements....More>>>
