It will be a busy day for economic data announcements. Most important will be a report on inflation at 8:30 EDT. Strong price growth has picked up to start the year. Over shorter periods, these relationships don’t always hold true. The stocks of large companies go in and out of favor compared to their smaller rivals, and there are times when big companies have an edge. For instance, smaller companies are less likely to have international operations than the giants of industry with multinational scope, and so when the U.S. economy is underperforming compared to the rest of the world, large companies that can take advantage of foreign markets more easily do better.

The long-term value proposition of the stocks of small companies, however, has borne itself out over time. Yet many investors largely ignore smaller companies when they think about investing. Putting all your money in them can involve too much risk, but the right balance of big, midsizeand smaller companies can help you enhance your overall returns while still leaving you comfortable with your portfolio as a whole.

Lyft said it is investigating new accusations that employees improperly accessed the private data of its riders.

The announcement came after the tech news site The Information published a story on Thursday that raised questions about how the ridehail company’s employees might be using sensitive information about customers.

The article centered on a post made on an app called Blind, an anonymous message board that provides an outlet for current and former employees at companies to gossip about their employers.

The anonymous poster claimed to have seen Lyft employees look up “exes,” as well as data on Hollywood actresses, porn stars and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, The Information reported.

Hours after the report, Lyft cofounders Logan Green and John Zimmer e-mailed employees about the matter.

“Our company’s values are based on creating a healthy environment of trust and accountability. If we find a violation, we will take appropriate action,” read the e-mail obtained by CNN Tech, which contained the subject line “Upholding trust.”

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Reuben Gregg Brewer]

Calumet Specialty Products Partners, L.P. (NASDAQ:CLMT) is attempting to shift gears as it refocuses around higher-margin refined chemicals products. The plan sounds good on paper, and the independent refiner appears to be making progress. However, after a doubling of the price over the past year, most investors need to think carefully before jumping on this bandwagon. Here’s why.

  • [By Maxx Chatsko]

Two turnaround stocks drawing attention from investors are propane distributor Ferrellgas Partners L.P. (NYSE:FGP) and specialty refiner Calumet Specialty Products Partners LP (NASDAQ:CLMT). They’ve had very different trajectories in the last year, with the former losing 35% and the latter gaining 108%. However, the biggest problem facing each business is the same: suffocating debt.

Top 10 Casino Stocks To Buy Right Now: Novo Nordisk A/S(NVO)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Paul Ausick]

Novo Nordisk A/S (NYSE: NVO) dropped about 1.5% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $32.35 after closing at $32.84 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $59.00. Volume of about 3.4 million was close to the daily average of around 3.9 million shares. The drug maker had no specific news.

  • [By James E. Brumley]

When most investors think of diabetes stocks, names like Novo Nordisk A/S (ADR) (NYSE:NVO) and MannKind Corporation (NASDAQ:MNKD) come to mind. And well they should. Novo Nordisk is the biggest insulin company in the world, and while MannKind is relatively small, it’s a name that turns heads simply because it came up with an inhalable insulin that – after a slow start – is getting a little traction.

In both cases though, the paradigm is the same one that was first used decades ago. That is, if a person isn’t making their own insulin, then it must be introduced externally. What if instead a diabetic’s glucose levels could be controlled by turning on the cells in their body responsible for processing that sugar? That’s the approach Cell MedX Corp (OTCMKTS:CMXC) is taking, using a relatively new but very compelling science.

While chemical-based manufactured pharmaceuticals were largely the core of healthcare for well over the past century, it’s become clear that our bodies – right down to our cells – are also electrical in nature. Not only do they produce it, they need it to function properly. The FDA has even recently approved a therapeutic device that delivers mild electrical currents to and through an individual’s body as a means of treating pain. This “electromedicine” has also shown a certain degree of efficacy as a treatment for several illnesses, including cancer. Specifically, electrical currents have been demonstrated to force pleomorphic cancer microbes into hibernation, essentially making a cancerous cell a normal, healthy cell again. So, using an electrical current as a means of therapy for diabetics isn’t far-fetched at all. Indeed, it’s quite brilliant.

As for how Cell MedX is using the idea, it’s actually quite simple. The device is called an eBalance. At first glance it just looks like another ordinary tablet computer. A closer inspection of the e-Balance device, however, makes it clear that it’s not just another tablet. It’

  • [By Brian Orelli]

Novo Nordisk (NYSE:NVO) continues its trend ofrelatively strong growth of its newer diabetes medications being offset by slower growth of older insulin drugs in the first quarter. Currency changes also negatively affected Novo’s revenue line, but that’s out of the company’s control.

While this can mean excess volatility on the world markets, a silver lining (pun intended) is that mining companies are growing in market favor. Taranis Resources Inc. (OTCBB: TNREF) (TSE: TRO.V), a mining and mineral exploration company based in Colorado and Vancouver, BC, is well positioned for growth in the current volatile markets, largely due to its Thor Deposit, an advanced-stage gold-silver-lead-zinc-copper mineral deposit that has near-surface mineralization that can be extracted with a low cost, open pit mine. Recent discoveries in The Thor Deposit, which is 100% owned by Taranis (OTCBB: TNREF) (TSE: TRO.V), indicate that the area could be prime for development into a significantly bigger mine.
