The dream of traveling from coast to coast or across the ocean in a matter of hours is a real possibility, with the Federal Aviation Administration beginning work on updated regulations to accommodate a new generation of supersonic aircraft. The changes would be great news for passengers, while creating both challenges and new opportunities for aerospace giants like Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) and Boeing (NYSE:BA).

The FAA intends to issue a formal proposal on new noise guidelines by December, according to a post on the White House’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs website. The new rules would allow for testing of new supersonic technologies that are designed to not generate a disruptive sonic boom, and pave the way for eventual approval of the new technologies if they work as planned.

Top 5 Stocks To Watch Right Now

European traders are looking to the latest batch of corporate updates to boost confidence in the region’s shares.

The first-quarter earnings season is heating up at a challenging time for euro-area stocks. The currency has been trading above the $1.22 level for most of 2018, putting fresh pressure on exporters’ balance sheets, while economic momentum has started to slow after last year’s growth spurt. As a result, the Stoxx Europe 600 Index has struggled to recoup the losses incurred since a global selloff began in late January.

Better-than-expected profits could help investors look ahead to a second half in which the currency headwind weakens and growth stabilizes. JPMorgan Chase & Co. expects positive surprises this season, sticking to its 14 percent profit growth forecast for the euro-area in 2018 — two times the consensus projection.

#lazy-img-326885163:before{padding-top:56.25%;}

“The FX headwind for the euro zone should be peaking right now — relative surprises are likely to shift from the U.S. to euro zone in the second half,” JPMorgan strategists led by Mislav Matejka wrote in a note. “Revenue growth is rather healthy, and near the highest in years in the U.S. and Europe.”

Hot Heal Care Stocks To Own Right Now

On January 5, 2018, I shared with my readers here on SA an article related to Surgery Partners, Inc. (NASDAQ:SGRY). At the time of my article, the stock was trading for around $12.00. The premise for my article hinged on the fact I thought the stock had been oversold based on the third-quarter 2017 quarterly report having disappointed the market. The stock was heavily punished and fell from a previous high of $24.05 to a low of $7.10. Based on this precipitous drop, upon my review and looking at the long-term potential for the stock, it met my criteria of a stock being mispriced due to a binary event that wasn’t such a deleterious event deserving this dumping of the stock by investors. I made my entry purchase in the stock at the average price of $12.10, and I’m highly pleased the stock in the interim has traded as high as $19.95 (5/11/18) for a greatly appreciated 65% increase for my four-month investment.

Hot Heal Care Stocks To Own Right Now: Mitsubishi Corporation (MSBHY)

Advisors’ Opinion:

Automotive is moving well, up 14% y/y driven by HD Radio tech. The latter is included in an A list of important models, including Tesla Model 3, the Mitsubishi (OTCPK:MSBHY) Mirage and the Nissan (OTCPK:NSANY) Rogue. Their connected radio solution is also coming along nicely.

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

Japanese trading company Itochu (OTCPK:ITOCY) has a tough act to follow – its own meaningful improvement over the past five years. The company was more willing than most of its Japanese trading peers to deemphasize commodity/resource businesses, and it moved fairly quickly here, building up non-resource businesses like its food, “machinery”, and finance operations. Those moves have led to better ROE and cash flow margin performance versus its peers, and Itochu shares have done well relative to peers like Mitsui (OTCPK:MITSY), Mitsubishi (OTCPK:MSBHY), Marubeni (OTCPK:MARUY), and Sumitomo (OTCPK:SSUMY) over that time.

Welcome to The Salary Chronicles, where we’re bringing transparency to negotiation and salaries, one story at a time. We ask women to share their experiences negotiating their salary and what their advice is for others doing the same. We share these stories anonymously so they feel comfortable speaking as openly and as freely as possible.

This week we’re speaking with a woman who was in a career rut and felt undervalued. Instead of staying stuck, she worked on improving her whole self, and as a result was offered a job that exceeded the ambitious income goal she had set for herself.

Title: Management Consultant

Location: Denver, CO

Original Salary: $45k

Negotiated Salary: $80k

What was the situation?

I had been working as a consultant for 4 years and by the end I hated it. The hours were long, I wasn’t making a lot of money, and I didn’t want to move up any further with my company. On the outside, it looked like I had a great career, but deep down I knew it wasn’t a fit.

Top 10 Undervalued Stocks For 2019: Mastercard Incorporated(MA)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Rich Smith]

Would you like to pay for that with Mastercard (NYSE:MA), Visa (NYSE:V), or PayPal (NASDAQ:PYPL)?

That’s the question Sears Outlet’s website asked me earlier this week. And here’s the funny bit: I actually wanted to pay with my new American Express (NYSE:AXP) card, but because of a coding glitch on Sears’ website, the field wasn’t big enough to enter all the required numbers. To work around that snafu, I was forced to add my AmEx card to my PayPal account, then charge my new dishwasher to the AmEx card on PayPal.

  • [By ]

Card networks Visa (NYSE: V) and Mastercard (NYSE: MA), which benefit from the same tailwinds, aren’t much better, both with minuscule yields of 0.7%.

  • [By Leo Sun]

Nubank offers a virtual credit card from Mastercard (NYSE:MA) to five million active customers. Its mobile app lets users track real-time transactions, contact customer support, apply for higher credit limits, and perform other services.

  • [By Leo Sun, Chuck Saletta, and Jordan Wathen]

It is still a solid long-term growth stock. But according to a team of Motley Fool contributors, three other stocks — GrubHub (NYSE:GRUB), Tableau Software (NYSE:DATA), and Mastercard (NYSE:MA) — might offer better returns for now.

  • [By Eric Volkman]

“Steering” refers to the practice of merchants encouraging customers to use one (or more) method(s) of payment in favor of another, either through discounts or direct requests (“Bob’s Beanz Prefers Visa and Mastercard”). The process tends to be at AmEx’s expense because the company charges its merchants higher per-transaction fees than its eternal rivals Visa (NYSE:V) and Mastercard (NYSE:MA).

Top 10 Undervalued Stocks For 2019: Sigma Designs, Inc.(SIGM)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Steve Symington]

    Data source: Silicon Laboratories.

What happened with Silicon Labs this quarter?
Revenue was above the high end of guidance provided in late January, which called for a range of $196 million to $202 million. On an adjusted (non-GAAP) basis, which excludes items like equity compensation and acquisition costs, net income was $38.3 million, or $0.87 per share — also above guidance for adjusted earnings per share of between $0.73 and $0.79. IoT revenue grew 17% year over year to $103 million. Infrastructure revenue jumped 37% year over year to $49 million. Broadcast revenue declined 3% to $36 million. Access revenue fell 6% to $17 million. Subsequent to the end of the quarter, on April 18, 2018, Silicon Labs closed its $240 million acquisition of Sigma Designs’ (NASDAQ:SIGM) Z-Wave business. Silicon Labs had initially agreed to acquire all of Sigma Designs this past December for $282 million, but amended the deal last quarter to include only its Z-Wave business after certain closing conditions weren’t met. In any case, the purchase significantly expands Silicon Labs’ position in mesh networking for smart homes.

Best Biotech Stocks To Invest In Right Now

We write this introduction early Friday, with the fate of the U.S. House of Representatives vote on the American Health Care Act (AHCA) yet to be determined. While any prediction we utter to the result will look stupid soon enough, we can say that this is surely not going to be the end of political discussions that affect the biotech space. Between the continuation of this legislative process, continued concerns over high drug prices, and more general effects like tax reform, it seems fair to say that biotech will continue to stay in the news.

With that in mind, we convened another biotech roundtable. Five Marketplace authors focusing on the sector shared their thoughts on the regulatory environment, the industry itself, and what they’re watching for in the next few months. And since Gilead Sciences (GILD) has surpassed Valeant Pharmaceuticals (VRX) as the story in the sector, we asked about that as well.

Our panel:

Bret Jensen, author of The Biotech Forum Bhavneesh Sharma, author of Vasuda Healthcare Analytics Oneil Trader, author of Growth Stock Forum Chris Lau, author of Value Stocks for DIY Investors Slingshot Insights, author of Become the Smart Money

Seeking Alpha: We’ve had a few government level developments this year that could affect biotech: The House’s mooted bill for healthcare reform, President Trump’s talk about high drug prices, the appointment of a new FDA head. Does anything stand out for you as far as the current climate for the sector?

WASHINGTON — President Trump has struck a deal with Chinese telecom company ZTE to lift U.S. trade restrictions that threatened to put the company out of business, a source familiar with the agreement said Friday.

Officials with the Commerce Department have briefed lawmakers on Capitol Hill about the outlines of the agreement, which includes a fine, a purge of ZTE’s management and a requirement that the company hire American compliance officers.

In exchange, the Trump administration would lift a ban on U.S. companies selling parts to the tech giant.

Trump asked his Commerce Department to investigate the restrictions on ZTE in April following a request from Chinese President Xi Jinping. Commerce imposed a seven-year ban after the company sold American-made products to Iran, a violation of U.S. sanctions.

Much of the focus of cannabis investors has been centered on Canada and California. This makes sense given that they are the two largest recreational (or soon to be) cannabis markets in the world. However, one publicly traded company with US-centric cannabis operations has taken a different approach. iAnthus Capital is listed in Canada on the CSE (OTCQB:ITHUF), but is headquartered in New York and incorporated in Delaware. Unlike other Canadian-listed cannabis companies, most of which are aiming to get in on the highly competitive green-rush in California and Canada, iAnthus has set its sights on becoming the dominant player on the U.S. East Coast.

Hot Heal Care Stocks For 2019

Bitcoin prices traded lower Tuesday as thought leaders shared differing opinions and the much-anticipated Consensus conference in New York failed to offer much in the way of a meaningful rally for the cryptocurrency market.

The No. 1 cryptocurrency by market value traded around $8,550 on subdued volume in afternoon action. Most of the other top cryptocurrencies joined bitcoin in its price decline.

Here’s what you need to know in crypto for Tuesday, May 15.

Fed’s Bullard on ‘Non-Uniform’ Risks

Speaking at the Consensus 2018 event in New York on Monday, St. Louis Federal Reserve President James Bullard explained that cryptocurrencies have begun to operate as non-uniform currencies, as there are more than 1,800 cryptocurrencies, many of which trade at different prices at the same time in the same local markets. Non-uniform currencies such as these have, at least historically, been rejected and replaced in financial markets, Bullard suggested. That means bitcoin and its crypto cohorts have quite a ways to go on the road toward ubiquity in global financial markets. “They’ve got to compete just like everybody else … welcome to the currency competition game,” Bullard said. “Cryptocurrencies may be unwittingly pushing in the wrong direction in trying to solve an important social problem, which is how best to facilitate market-based exchange,” Bullard said. The dollar, on the other hand, is backed by a stable government with direct and sensical monetary policy and persistently low inflation — because of that, it can better achieve the goals and meet the needs of the market. “The dollar is in great shape and will stay in great shape because it’s been the winner for a long time,” Bullard said. “Unless we screw up, I think the dollar is going to remain the dominant currency.”

Freeport-McMoRan, Inc. (NYSE:FCX) has done a great job turning itself around. But just as it was starting to gain traction in its efforts to recover from an (in hindsight) ill-advised oil investment, troubles popped up at one of its most important mine investments: the Grasberg Mine in Indonesia. Legal wrangling with the country’s government has cast a cloud over the company’s future. But it should, hopefully, start to clear over the next year. Here’s what you need to know.

  • [By Neha Chamaria]

April was a roller-coaster ride for investors in Freeport-McMoRan Inc.(NYSE:FCX). The copper and gold miner kicked off the month on a strong note, only to give up all of its gains and more in the fourth week of April. By the end of April, Freeport-McMoRan stock registered its worst month so far this year, ending 13.4% lower according to data provided byS&P Global Market Intelligence.

The stock prices of Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (NYSE:FCX) and Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:ABX) have rebounded strongly since commodity prices started to recover in early 2016. That shouldn’t be surprising, since this pair of miners is focused on pulling copper and gold out of the ground. But which one is the better buy today?

The U.S. Commerce Department backed Boeing in its challenge to Bombardier, recommending an enormous tariff on sales of Bombardier’s C Series jetliner, a major blow to the Canadian plane maker.

The initial ruling by the International Trade Commission, an arm of the Commerce Department, recommends a 219.63% tariff on the delivery of each airliner, according to a person briefed on the ITC’s findings.

Boeing (BA), America’s largest exporter and sole U.S. producer of commercial airliners, is suing Bombardier. At issue is whether Bombardier received financial backing from the Canadian government that allowed the plane maker to stay afloat and sell to Delta for what Boeing alleges were “absurdly low prices.”

“The U.S. values its relationships with Canada, but even our closest allies must play by the rules,” said Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in a statement. “The subsidization of goods by foreign governments is something that the Trump Administration takes very seriously, and we will continue to evaluate and verify the accuracy of this preliminary determination.”

The announcement came after the tech news site The Information published a story on Thursday that raised questions about how the ridehail company’s employees might be using sensitive information about customers.

Yet when it comes to investing, reward often comes from being willing to take on risk. Over the past 10 years, investors who’ve been willing to look at smaller companies have seen much stronger returns than those who’ve stuck with the tried-and-true big names that are more familiar to them. The plan sounds good on paper, and the independent refiner appears to be making progress. However, after a doubling of the price over the past year, most investors need to think carefully before jumping on this bandwagon. Here’s why.

  • [By Maxx Chatsko]

Two turnaround stocks drawing attention from investors are propane distributor Ferrellgas Partners L.P. (NYSE:FGP) and specialty refiner Calumet Specialty Products Partners LP (NASDAQ:CLMT). Volume was around 24 million, eight times the daily average of around 3 million. The company reported weak revenues Monday and it and two of its competitors are getting hammered today.

  • [By Demitrios Kalogeropoulos]

There are many reasons an investor might be attracted to TripAdvisor (NASDAQ:TRIP) stock. It boasts an enviable position in the online hotel booking space, after all, and the travel specialist is cultivating new business lines that might soon become significant revenue streams in their own rights.

  • [By Chris Lange]

The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage loss ahead of the close Wednesday was TripAdvisor, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRIP) which traded down about 8% at $38.47. The stocks 52-week range is $29.50 to $50.95. Volume was 3.3 million compared to the daily average volume of 2.8 million.

    Agence France-Presse/Getty Images

    TripAdvisordropped 11% to $46.92 today, while the S&P 500 dipped 0.1% to2,347.22.

Susquehanna’s Shyam Patil and team write that TripAdvisor’s “challenges persist.” They explain why:

4Q highlights another challenging quarter. Total revenue was $316m (up 2% y/y), 1% below our estimate of $320m and 3% below consensus of $327m. EBITDA of $58m (18.4% margins) was ~25% below our and the consensus estimate of $77m, caused by the revenue miss and higher opex (specifically S&M and G&A) vs. our model…

While we like TRIPs leading audience reach (on both mobile and desktop) and breadth of travel content, we believe the traffic mix shift to mobile combined with the transition to instant book (IB) will continue to weigh on monetization and cause near-term volatility in the numbers. TRIP is prioritizing revenue growth over profits this year, and management expects to drive double-digit revenue growth but at the expense of significant margin deleverage and absolute EBITDA declines. Additionally, EBITDA could decline further, if TRIP decides to do TV advertising, which is currently not in our estimates or managements outlook. Given these issues, forecasting remains challenging and we continue to have little confidence in estimates.

TripAdvisor’s market capitalization fell to $6.8 billion today from $7.6 billion yesterday.

WASHINGTON The IRS strikes back: The tax agency reports that the number of identity theft victims plummeted last year after agents struggled for years to combat what has become a multibillion-dollar industry.

The number of victims dropped by 46 percent, to 376,000, the IRS said. These taxpayers had their identities stolen by criminals who used their Social Security numbers and birthdates to obtain fraudulent tax refunds.

“It’s a much more challenging time for the cybercrooks,” said Mark Ciaramitaro, vice president for retail tax products and services at H&R Block. “All of the easy paths have been closed.”

Identity theft exploded from 2010 to 2012, and “for a time overwhelmed law enforcement and the IRS,” said John Dalrymple, deputy IRS commissioner for services and enforcement.

Hot Stocks To Buy For 2018: The NeutriSci International (NU)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Matthew Briar]

What do you get when you cross a science that drastically improves the absorption of cannabidiol (the healthy component of cannabis) with pterostilbene (an antioxidant) tablet? It’s not a joke in search of a punch line. It’s going to be the health supplement millions of consumers have been waiting for, brought to them by a joint venture between NeutriSci International Inc (CVE:NU) and Lexaria Bioscience Corp (OTCMKTS:LXRP). The two companies announced this morning they were entering a joint venture that would utilize Lexaria Bioscience’s proprietary infusion platform and tap into NeutriSci International’s existing distribution network to create and market a whole new supplement product line.

Lexaria has developed and patented a technology that makes valuable molecules taste better and absorb better in the digestive tract. This platform could be applied to a variety of nutritional and health-oriented favorites, but Lexaria is starting with hemp as it’s the most underserved market and arguably the biggest growth opportunity.

Just to be clear, hemp and marijuana are not the same thing. Hemp doesn’t have any tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC) in it, which is the key driver of its psychoactive — the ‘high’ — response. Hemp, and hemp oil to be exact, does have cannabidiol in it though, and for those who’ve been following the saga of medical marijuana and cannabis, they’ll know cannabidiol can provide a lot of various medical benefits like the reduction of nausea, control of seizures, anti-cancer activity, anti-inflammation effects, and more.

NeutriSci International is Canadian corporation that specializes in the marketing, development and distribution of proprietary nutraceuticals. It’s got a rather wide array of products in its portfolio, but the one of immediate interest is its pterostilbene, as it fits best with the hemp-absorption technology Lexaria Bioscience brings to the table.

Pterostilbene (found in blueberries, by the way) is o

Indeed, it’s also garnered interest from business partners. In November, Lexaria Bioscience and NeutriSci International Inc (CVE:NU) jointly announced they were entering a joint venture that would utilize Lexaria Bioscience’s proprietary infusion platform and tap into NeutriSci International’s existing distribution network to create and market a whole new supplement product line. In January, the duo announced it had finalized new supplement that is done testing and will soon be available for consumers. The tablet (a ‘melt’, technically) is a combination of pterostilbene and cannabidiol, offering a double-barreled benefit to the health-conscious.

In the grand scheme of things it shouldn’t be surprising, though odds are good at least a few people are surprised at how quickly it happened. That is, health supplement and healthy-foods brand name NeutriSci International Inc (CVE:NU) and the developer of a cannabis-infusion technology — a means of packing more CBD into hemp oil — called Lexaria Bioscience Corp (OTCMKTS:LXRP) have finalized new supplement that is done testing and will soon be available for consumers. The tablet (a ‘melt’, technically) is a combination of pterostilbene and cannabidiol, offering a double-barreled benefit to the health-conscious.

The benefits of cannabidiol, found in hemp and marijuana, are relatively well understood by the market at this point. Cannabidiol can do a human body a lot of good, like the reduction of nausea, control of seizures, anti-cancer activity, anti-inflammation effects, and more. Pterostilbene is the lesser-known of the two components of the new tablet, but no less impressive and no less beneficial. Pterostilbene is known to combat high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and oxidative stress. Combining the two is a real one-two punch for the health-conscious.

That’s what made November’s news so exciting… NeutriSci International has an established name and marketing channel, while Lexaria Bioscience has the science that makes hemp oil far more functional. Indeed, to fully appreciate the upside for LXRP, one has to embrace Lexaria’s science and why it matters.

The bulk of the vitamins, anti-oxidants, minerals, amino acids and all the other desirable components of the pills you take and foods you eat don’t actually get absorbed into your body. Sometimes as much as 96% of the ingredient in question isn’t extracted, and instead passes right through. Not only is it a waste of time and money, it’s a bit of a hassle to swallow a big capsule — or several capsules — for little to no benefit.

Lexaria Bioscience changes this. In short,

Last week — to the day, in fact — Lexaria Bioscience Corp (OTCMKTS:LXRP) announced it was teaming up with neutraceutical company NeutriSci International Inc (CVE:NU) to create a new kind of health supplement that gave consumers the ability to tap into the benefits of hemp. We hailed it as the shape of things to come. What we didn’t know, however, was how quickly those things would take shape. Just this morning the company told LXRP shareholders it was already forging another such symbiotic relationship…. this one with Hempco Food and Fiber Inc (CVE:HEMP).

Simply put, Lexaria Bioscience is focused on improving the bioavailability of the healthy stuff found in food, supplements, vitamins, and yes, even in cannabis and hemp.

It’s not widely recognized, but the bulk of the vitamins, anti-oxidants, minerals, amino acids and all the other desirable components of the pills you take and foods you eat don’t actually get absorbed into your body. Sometimes as much as 96% of the ingredient in question isn’t extracted, and instead passes right through. Not only is it a waste of time and money, it’s a bit of a hassle to swallow a big capsule — or several capsules — for little to no benefit.

Lexaria Bioscience changes this. In short, Lexaria has developed and patented a proprietary technology that makes valuable molecules taste better and absorb better in the digestive tract. This platform could be applied to a variety of nutritional and health-oriented favorites, but Lexaria is starting with hemp as it’s the most underserved market and arguably the biggest growth opportunity. Hemp, and hemp oil to be exact, can provide a lot of various medical benefits like the reduction of nausea, control of seizures, anti-cancer activity, anti-inflammation effects, and more.

The future for Lexaria Bioscience is partnerships… licensing its science and know-how to companies with existing product lines and distribution networks that can easily inject hemp

Photo&a;nbsp;credit: Emile Wamsteker/Bloomberg News.

Long-term care and overall medical expenses are growing as financial worries for retirees. Nearly half of&a;nbsp;seniors have little or no confidence they have enough money for nursing homes and other long-care.

That worry grew to 49% this year, up from 45%&a;nbsp;last year, in the annual retirement confidence survey released today by the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI), a non-partisan Washington think tank.

Twice as many retirees requiring long-term care in the last five years said the expense was much higher than expected compared to&a;nbsp;the elderly who haven&a;rsquo;t needed the intense medical assistance (22% versus 11%).

Top 5 Medical Stocks To Buy For 2019: Cannabis Science, Inc. (CBIS)

Advisors’ Opinion:

A long term performance chart shows GW Pharmaceuticals PLC outperforming other small cap marijuana stocks like Zynerba Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: ZYNE), Cannabis Science Inc (OTCMKTS: CBIS) and Medical Marijuana Inc (OTCMKTS: MJNA), but that outperformance has come withconsiderable volatility:

  • [By Matthew Briar]

Look out Cannabis Science Inc (OTCMKTS:CBIS), and step aside Medical Marijuana Inc (OTCMKTS:MJNA). There’s a new cannabis name on the scene…. Algae Dynamics Corp. (OTCMKTS:ADYNF). It may not be known (or named) like its marijuana peers, but give it time. This small cap company has a very big idea, and it’s going to sprout soon.

Yes, Algae Dynamics is an algae company. It’s not just an algae company though.

Algae Dynamics is the owner of the proprietary BioSilo ™ process. BioSilo is a way of growing algae quickly and effectively…. a mix of an open-pond system and a photobioreactor, which is a light-driven approach to growing algae. It can be viewed as a “best of both worlds” approach, lowering the typical cost of algae farming, while the modular design makes it easy to maintain.

The company could go a lot of directions with the technology, Most of the tens of thousands of species of algae are rather flexible in how they can be purposed, and what they can become. Algae Dynamics is first focused on the development of two kinds of products though…. Chlorella, and Omega-3.

Chlorella is a type of microalgae that can be processed into a consumable powder by drying it until it takes a powder form, similar to coffee. Chlorella is rich in minerals, prebiotics, vitamins, and other nutritional substances. It can be added to a baked goods and a number of other products, or taken as a supplement on its own. Chlorella is used in over 1,000 products in the food and beverage markets. Algae Dynamics estimates the global Chlorella market was $210.3 million in 2014 and is expected to reach $265.5 million in 2018.

Despite a market for Chlorella in North America, there are no commercial North American producers of it.

Due to its health benefits, Omega-3 oil can be added to a very wide range of products. Consumers are increasingly aware of these benefits too, leading to substantial growth in the industry; health supplements compr

Top 5 Medical Stocks To Buy For 2019: Sanofi(SNY)

Advisors’ Opinion:

Hopes were high for MannKind (MNKD) when its inhaled insulin Afrezza was approved by the FDA more than two years ago. At the time, Barron’s warned that it was time to dump MannKind’s shares, something that now seems prescient, as its shares have since tumbled 95%. No wonder, as the news since then has been far from good. MannKind found a partner in Sanofi (SNY), only to get dumped in early 2016, and has since been forced to sell property to raise cash. And now MannKind could be on the verge of being delisted from the Nasdaq due to its sub $1 stock price. What now? Piper Jaffray’sJoshua Schimmer and team see a reverse stock split in MannKind’s future:

Experts have said the AstraZeneca (NYSE: AZN) vaccine FluMist may not be effective against this year’s strain of flu and are instead recommending the Sanofi (NYSE: SNY) FluZone vaccine. GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE: GSK) has recently been approved for use of its FluLaval vaccine in children as young as six months.

The long saga regarding Pandora Media Inc. (NYSE: P) has finally come to a head. Well, maybe. Rather than KKR & Co. L.P. (NYSE: KKR) investing $150 million, Sirius XM Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRI) will be investing up to $480 million in the streaming music rival. With its ticketing unit sale taking place as well, it might seem that Pandora is getting a great deal and helping to bolster its books.

The three top performers in Berkshire’s portfolio were Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:SIRI), Mastercard (NYSE:MA), and Moody’s (NYSE:MCO). Here’s what drove these stocks higher — and what their prospects are for the rest of 2018.

Sirius XM Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRI) is a company that thrives on of new car sales. If you have had satellite radio and are not solely reliant on what you get for music in streaming or your library, then chances are pretty good that you won’t want to go back to just having old-fashioned FM/AM radio.
