Hot Blue Chip Stocks To Buy Right Now

Repeatedly slammed by President Donald Trump over drug prices, the Kenilworth, N.J.-based company did not reference Trump in making the announcement.

But the company said it would “commit to not increase the average net price across our portfolio of products by more than inflation annually.”

The “net price” is a cloudy figure that can be difficult to assess because it may include the value of complex industry rebates and insurance reimbursements. Still, the move reflects a step toward limiting the impact of drug costs on American consumers.

It also comes after Pfizer last week temporarily reversed price increases following criticism from Trump.

Small SUVs are the hottest segment in the new car market right now. So maybe it shouldn’t be surprising that a big chunk of the new vehicle unveilings at the Los Angeles Auto Show were little crossover SUVs.

It seemed like there was an SUV popping out every time you turned around. For starters, Ford unveiled its new EcoSport just before the show with DJ Khaled doing the honors.

The Jeep Compass is another example of the car market’s madness for small-sized SUVs. The current version is a strong seller despite abysmal reviews. Consumer Reports gave it the lowest rating of any compact SUV and Car & Driver awarded it a mere 1.5 out of a possible five stars.

And yet, as of last month, Jeep Compass sales for the year were up 44%. According to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCAM), which makes Jeeps, the sales jump reflects the Compass’s relatively low price given all the desirable SUV features that it offers.

DJ Khaled unveils new Ford EcoSport on Snapchat

It’s too soon to know, of course, how good the new Compass is but it should at least be a vast improvement over the outgoing model. Since it’s a Jeep, engineers took off-road capability seriously in creating the new Compass. Two different full-time all-wheel-drive systems are available including a super-slow off-road “crawl” gearing ratio. “Trail Rated” versions can wade through 19 inches of water and climb over steep hills and out of tight ditches. At the same time, Jeep also promises better on-road behavior.

That list of winners includes Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE:ANF), Guess (NYSE:GES), and Ralph Lauren (NYSE:RL), which rallied 81%, 116%, and 106%, respectively, over the past 12 months.

Wall Street saw mixed performance in the stock market on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average setting a record high even as other indexes gave up ground. Weak performances from the small-cap Russell 2000 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite reflected concerns about whether rallies in those areas of the market have become overextended, but investors in the larger global companies in the Dow like the more favorable trade environment that’s emerged in recent days. Even so, some individual stocks suffered setbacks. Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD), Roku (NASDAQ:ROKU), and Guess? (NYSE:GES) were among the worst performers on the day. Here’s why they did so poorly.

Salesforce.com Inc. (NYSE: CRM) will report earnings after the bell. The cloud computing giant is expected to report earnings per share of $0.47 on top of $3.23 billion in revenue. With strong cloud-computing demand from businesses, expect a lot of anticipation around the company’s third-quarter forecast and full-year outlook. Investors will also be looking for an update on the impact of its acquisition of MuleSoft, the largest deal in Salesforce history. The White House is pressuring Alphabet Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOGL) after President Trump accused the team behind the Google search engine of selective bias. Trump believes that Google has been hiding positive news about him, but he failed to provide any evidence to his claims. Trump’s top economic advisor, Larry Kudlow, said the White House is “having a look” at Google, but didn’t provide any details on the plan. Shares of Amazon.com Inc. CACI (NYSE:CACI) earlier this year fell short in its audacious bid to steal CSRA from the arms of General Dynamics, but the company did walk away with an attractive consolation prize from the deal.

  • [By Lou Whiteman]

That reasoning has fueled the rush of consolidation and explains why we are likely to see further deals in the quarters to come. Specifically, there’s CACI International (NYSE:CACI), the rumored runner-up for Engility. CACI also made an unsuccessful attempt to break up General Dynamics’ deal for CSRA, and will now face a landscape with three pure-play companies — plus a General Dynamics that is significantly larger than CACI — and seems destined to act.

Markets are cheering a major development in efforts to fix the ongoing trade conflict between the United States and China. According to Reuters, Chinese telecom giant ZTE has signed an agreement to get back into business with its American partners. The agreement will lift a ban by the U.S. Commerce Department that prevented China’s No. 2 telecommunications equipment from buying from U.S. suppliers. This is a major development, and one that signals progress among trade officials from both nations. There are now more job openings in the United States than available workers. This is the first time that the Department of Labor has documented this phenomenon. There are 6.7 million openings compared to the 6.4 million workers available to fill those positions. As a result, U.S. companies have been forced to increase compensation in order to attract talent. All of the positive economic development could come to a screeching halt should the U.S. experience the largest labor strike in a decade. Reports indicate that the Teamsters and the United Parcel Service (NYSE: UPS) are on a collision course that could result in a general strike. The union has announced that 260,000 UPS employees have authorized a strike should both sides fail to reach a labor deal by August 1. UPS is responsible for the transport of 6% of the nation’s gross domestic product.

Top 5 Heal Care Stocks To Buy Right Now: Viking Therapeutics, Inc.(VKTX)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Keith Speights]

With such a huge amount of money on the line, quite a few drugmakers are developing NASH drugs. We’ll probably soon see acquisitions activity heat up. I think Madrigal Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:MDGL) and Viking Therapeutics (NASDAQ:VKTX) are highly likely to be gobbled up in the not-too-distant future. My hunch is that Bristol-Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY), Gilead Sciences (NASDAQ:GILD), and Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) could be among the potential buyers.

Viking’s shares are soaring in response to a positive mid-stage result for its experimental nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) medicine VK2809. Most critically, the drug seems to compare favorably to Madrigal Pharmaceuticals’ (NASDAQ:MDGL) MGL-3196 in terms of both safety and efficacy.

Best China Stocks To Watch For 2019

The company that makes Huggies and Kleenex is cutting up to 5,500 jobs and closing factories.

Kimberly-Clark (KMB), which also makes Pull-Ups diapers and Depend undergarments, is having a hard time selling personal care products, which account for about half its revenue, explained April Scee, an analyst with Renaissance Macro Research.

Until recently, personal care products had been a growth engine. But traditional rivals like Procter & Gamble (PG) started selling premium diapers in China and stole some of Kimberly-Clark’s customers. And currency pressure forced the company to raise prices more than local competitors, Scee said.

On top of that, lower birth rates in the United States and South Korea mean fewer people have been buying diapers in those countries. Kimberly-Clark’s consumer product sales fell 2% in North America last year.

The job cuts amount to as much as 13% of the workforce. Kimberly-Clark will close or sell about 10 factories.

Hot Casino Stocks To Watch For 2019

Family and friends lend out about $89 billion in cash each year. More than a third of that total is used to help finance a new business while 6% of first-time home buyers get help from (usually) their parents. About a quarter of those loans were never paid back at all and more than 40% were only paid back partially.

The moral here is not to lend more than you can afford to lose. Sort of like playing poker or blackjack in a casino.

But what about lending your credit card to someone else, either a family member or good friend? How likely is that result in a bad outcome? According to a new survey of 2,253 U.S. adults by researchers at CreditCards.com, more than one-third of the time.

Nearly half (49%) of respondents who have ever owned a credit card admitted that they had lent the card to spouses, children, friends, co-workers or “other people” to make a purchase. More than a third (35%) experienced negative consequences.

Overspending by the card’s borrower hit 19% of the trusting souls, while 14% never got repaid and 10% reported that the card was lost, stolen or never returned. By extrapolation, the researchers estimate that 36 million Americans have been hurt by lending a credit card to someone else.

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Looking at recent historical deals, we arrive at a $18-$23 potential deal range. We analyzed transactions that have been announced over the past four years and involved companies catering to a higher income customer. These deals include Southern Tide (acquired by Oxford Industries (OXM)), Joe’s Jeans (acquired by Sequential Brands Group (SQBG)), prAna (acquired by Columbia Sportswear (COLM)), The Jones Group (acquired by Sycamore Partners [private] and Juicy Couture (acquired by Authentic Brands Group [private]). The average EV/EBITDA multiple of these transactions are 12.9x (in line with KATE’s 5-year historical average of 12.1x) and implies a potential deal range of $22-$23. When taking the average of recent (F13-16) deals implies an ~10.5x EV/EBITDA multiple. When applying the ~10.5x multiples to KATE’s trailing EBITDA, we arrive at an $18- $19 potential share price.

Oxford Industries Inc (NYSE: OXM) was down, falling around 11 percent to $64.05. Oxford Industries reported a narrower-than-expected loss for its third quarter. The company projects full-year earnings of $3.50 to $3.65 per share, and revenue of $1.02 billion to $1.03 billion.

Best Clean Energy Stocks For 2018

Uranium has been back in the news lately, not only due to its relationship with geopolitical maneuvering concerning nuclear weapons, but also as a necessary commodity in the global quest for clean, renewable energy.

The United States is the world’s largest producer of nuclear power, accounting for more than 30% of worldwide nuclear generation of electricity. While there has been little growth in new reactors being built in the last quarter century, the increasing demand for clean energy worldwide is sparking a demand for uranium to be enriched as nuclear fuel. Companies that mine and produce uranium, like Azincourt Uranium, Inc. (OTC: AZURF), are seeing the commodity investment market take a renewed interest in them, with uranium spot prices trending upward in the first quarter of 2017.

Top 10 Performing Stocks To Own Right Now: Matador Resources Company(MTDR)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Our peer group is up an average of 46% over the past 4 weeks in response to a 30% rebound in the 12-month strip NYMEX oil price. Some of the largest gainers include Hold and Sell rated stocks that we would not chase such asDenbury Resources (Sell, +138%), Halcon Resources (HK) (Sell, +147%), Jones Energy (JONE) (Hold, +166%), Rex Energy (REXX) (Sell, +60%), Sanchez Energy (SN) (Hold, +93%), Ultra Petroleum (UPL) (Sell, +61%), andWhiting Petroleum (Hold, +103%), which have outperformed the E&P Index (+32%) over the same time period. Balance sheets and/or well level returns remain challenged for these companies despite improved oil prices. While we believe oil markets should re-balance over the next 12 to 15 months, the recent recovery to $40 could reverse during 2Q16 as bloated inventories continue to rise, new volumes from Iran pressure an oversupplied market, and a highly anticipated decline in non-OPEC supply (especially in the U.S.), is not as steep as expected. The risk of an oil price retracement, which would significantly pressure the recent out-performers, outweighs the upside in these stocks, in our view. However, we are raising our target prices on Buy ratedAnadarko Petroleum ($54 from $48), Concho Resources (CXO) ($120 from $109), Matador Resources (MTDR) ($22 from $21),Noble Energy (NBL) ($40 from $34), SM Energy (SM) ($22 from $15), Rice Energy ($14 from $12), Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD) ($155 from $135),Continental Resources ($32 from $28), and Parsley Energy (PE) ($24 from $23). We believe our Buy-rated stocks are better positioned to weather challenging oil markets.

As for individual stocks, Copart (NASDAQ:CPRT) shares shot up on strong sales and profits, and Guess? (NYSE:GES) disappointed investors with its latest sales numbers and its outlook for the rest of the year.

  • [By Dan Caplinger]

Denim specialistGuess? (NYSE:GES) has struggled for a long time, and tough conditions in the overall retail market have been only part of the story. After signs of a possible turnaround early in 2016, the company has more recently raised new doubts about its ability to keep moving forward, especially in its home territory in the Americas. Coming into Wednesday’s fiscal fourth-quarter financial report, Guess? investors wanted to see decent sales growth, although they were prepared to deal with falling earnings. Yet the results that the jeans maker posted fell short of those expectations, and guidance for the coming fiscal year was ugly.

In what would be a blow to American aerospace giant Boeing, Delta Air Lines is set to order around 100 jetliners from European rival Airbus, according to two people familiar with the deal.

Atlanta-based Delta will announce a deal later Wednesday for the Airbus A321neo, the sources said. The agreement with Airbus maker will be accompanied by a planned purchase of Pratt & Whitney engines, they added.

Spokespeople for Delta (DAL)and Airbus declined to comment. Boeing (BA) said it had no comment. Delta’s board of directors is expected to meet Wednesday to vote on the Airbus purchase, the sources said.

Delta had been talking to Boeing about buying around 100 of its 737 Max 10 airliners, a person familiar with the matter said.

The move comes a day after Canada announced plans to ditch a deal with Boeing for new F/A-18 Super Hornets in favor of used fighters from Australia.

Boeing and Delta are embroiled in an ongoing trade dispute over the airline’s purchase of the smaller Canadian Bombardier C Series. Boeing has accused Bombardier of selling the C Series to Delta at unfairly low prices, and the U.S. Commerce Department has recommended a preliminary 300% tariff on the import of the jets. Bombardier and the Canadian government deny any unfair trade practices.

Hot Telecom Companies For 2016

After stumbling badly on negative publicity about foodborne illness at some of its restaurants, the fast casual dining industry’s once unstoppable frontrunner finally caught a break: On February 1, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) declared Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) free of the nasty E. coli bug responsible for the illness outbreak.

During the summer and fall of last year, the outbreak affected five dozen Chipotle customers in 11 states, prompting the temporary shut-down of 43 of the chain’s locations. The situation has run its course, the CDC concluded, because no new cases have been reported since December 21.

Besides sullying Chipotle’s reputation for safely providing “food with integrity,” the outbreak is wreaking havoc on the company’s stock and financials. Shares of Chipotle fell more than 40% since the news broke, and its latest quarterly report can only be described as ugly. Plus, there’s still fallout from a couple other recent outbreaks with another foodborne microbe (norovirus) involving single Chipotle locations in California and Massachusetts.

Advisors’ Opinion:

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (REGN) lost a patent case with Amgen (AMGN) and now a judge will have to make a decision regarding an injunction on sales of Praluent. Citigroup’s Robyn Karnauskas and Mohit Bansal provide and update:

We spoke to Regeneron regarding the timelines of the injunction decision in the PCSK9 patent case and the company noted that the Judges opinion could come in 3-4 months. The hearing on injunction took place last week and the Judge now will have to form an opinion based on the hearing. This typically takes 3-4 months to get the opinion per the company.

This makes Dupilumab phase 3 data in Atopic Dermatitis next important catalyst. As we noted before, we see $25/sh upside on positive data and $50-$60/sh downside on negative data. Investors are concerned that overhang due to the patent case could limit the upside with Dupilumab phase 3 data. Regeneron has said Dupilumab data would come in 1H16 while Sanofi (SNY) has said SOLO-1/2 data will readout in Q116 while CRONOS will readout in Q216.

Shares of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals have gained 1.3% to $368.55 at 2:40 p.m. today, while Amgen has advanced 0.6% to $149.36, and Sanofi has climbed 2.8% to $39.84.
