Top Low Price Stocks To Own For 2019

Retail giant Walmart (NYSE:WMT) isn’t too happy about the Trump administration enacting tariffs on Chinese imports and potential buyers of Walmart stock wonder how bad things could get.

Walmart recently wrote a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, in which the company detailed how expanded tariffs on Chinese imports would adversely impact the retailer, its customers, and the U.S. economy. The short of it: tariffs will force Walmart to raise prices, which could have a negative affect on consumers, consumer spending, and U.S. economic activity.

If tariffs seem like a negative for Walmart stock, it’s because they are. Tariffs mean either Walmart has to absorb higher costs and operate at lower margins, or they have to raise prices. Walmart has made it clear that they will raise prices. Walmart, whose biggest value props are all-in-one convenience and “Everyday Low Prices,”stands to lose a sizable amount of traffic if prices go up.

Hot Insurance Stocks To Own Right Now: Ford Motor Company(F)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By John Rosevear]

Analysts are starting to raise concerns in the wake of Ford Motor Company’s (NYSE:F) dismal second-quarter earnings report. The Blue Oval reported that its net income fell 44% to $1.1 billion and cut its guidance for the year on growing troubles in China and Europe.

  • [By Daniel Miller]

Despite all-time record profit in 2015, and strong profits in the years following that result, Ford Motor Company’s (NYSE:F) stock has been stuck in neutral as Wall Street couldn’t move past the fear that peak auto sales were just around the corner. Doom and gloom surrounds the industry’s sales, as do rising aluminum and steel costs, and a dismal second quarter now has Ford’s stock trading in the single digits for the first time since 2012. Due to that decline, and Ford’s recent price-to-earnings ratio of around 6, its dividend yield of 6% has become very attractive for income investors.

  • [By John Rosevear]

GM’s ongoing success in China stands in sharp contrast to the struggles of old Detroit rival Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F). Ford’s sales fell 25% in the first half of 2018, as the Blue Oval struggled with a lack of interest in what Chinese buyers see as an out-of-date product line.

Top Gold Stocks To Own For 2019

In lastyears roadmap, I forecast that 2017 would end with gold prices up and the dollar index down, both of which happened. I underestimated the number of Fed hikes by one hike, but globally, average short-term rates have remained around zero. That will be a core pattern throughout 2018.

Central banks may tweak a few rates here and there, announce some tapering due to economic growth, or deflect attention to fiscal policy, but the entire financial and capital markets system rests on the strategies, co-dependencies and cheap money policies of central banks. The bond markets will feel the heat of any tightening shift or fears of one, while the stock market will continue to push ahead on the reality of cheap money supply until debt problems tug at the equity markets and take them down.

Central bankers are well aware of this. They have no exit plan for their decade of collusion. But a weak hope that itll all work out. They have no dedicated agenda to remove themselves from their money supplier role, nor any desire to do so. Truth be told, they couldnt map out an exit route from cheap money even if they wanted to.

Best Clean Energy Stocks To Buy Right Now

Natural gas for transportation leader Clean Energy Fuels Corp (NASDAQ:CLNE) has steadily grown and improved the quality of its business and business results over the past several years. Today’s Clean Energy Fuels is leaner, has a stronger balance sheet, and is in a solid position as a market leader in a growth industry.

But is the stock undervalued? By one metric, book value per share, it looks downright cheap. But management used a massive amount of stock to make ends meet over the past 18 months, destroying a significant amount of shareholder value in the process. Still, the loss of an important tax credit will have multimillion-dollar implications, and the sale of a very profitable part of the business raises questions about the company’s ability to generate positive cash flows this year.

Best Clean Energy Stocks To Buy Right Now: Ford Motor Company(F)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Paul Ausick]

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) traded down about 3.4% Monday and posted a new 52-week low of $10.35 after closing Friday at $10.71. The stock’s 52-week high is $13.48. Volume was around 67 million, nearly 65% above the daily average of about 40 million shares. The company had no specific news.

  • [By ]

Ford (F) has been under pressure lately. Shares are off almost 10% since the calendar flipped to January 2018, underperforming the broad market in a meaningful way. But shares could finally be about to offer investors an about-face.

  • [By ]

Shares of the Corvette maker have tanked about 10% in 2018, lagging the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s 1.4% drop. Not helping GM, and rivals such as Ford (F) and Chrysler (FCAU) , has been the ongoing shift towards SUVs from passenger cars and the rise of car-sharing. That has left Detroit’s ‘Big 3’ automakers with bloated cost structures that will have to be addressed somehow. If it isn’t, the automakers are likely looking at years of pressured profits and stock prices.

  • [By ]

And then there is a leaked letter from Musk proclaiming a profit gusher is about to open up the likes of which Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) have never seen. Shout out to auto site Electrek for getting its hands on a letter Musk sent to employees this week, promising big things (profits, for one) and a quick ramp in Model 3 production. Yours truly came away with this thought: Tesla is horribly managed, lacks key processes and is badly in need of executive level leadership throughout.

  • [By John Rosevear]

Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) reported net income of $1.7 billion for the first quarter of 2018, up 9% from a year ago, an increase more than explained by a lower effective tax rate, the company said. Ford’s pre-tax result was down modestly on higher costs for key commodities and unfavorable exchange-rate movements.

Top 10 Medical Stocks To Own For 2018

By Emmanuel Enemchukwu with Hien X. T. Nguyen, Chenxi Liu, and Elizabeth Ren

Typical of REITs, the most compelling investment thesis for a Healthcare REIT like Medical Property Trust (MPW) has usually been the generous dividend payout. The generosity of its dividends not taken for granted, our valuation of MPW makes a case for underpricing. We are convinced that $17.20 per share – at the very least – is a more accurate reflection of the future prospects built into MPW’s fundamentals. At a current price of $12.66, this represents a whopping 36% upside.

Reality has played out rather differently for MPW. The stock price is back to where it was March when the bankruptcy proceedings of Adeptus – one of its biggest tenants – sent investors scampering. The entire Adeptus issue turned out to be overblown – further discussions later – but it also emblematized the challenges of the wider Medical REITs space. Nevertheless, we are convinced that an eventual appreciation is certain.

Oil prices are at levels we haven’t seen in years. U.S. crude topped $70 for the first since 2014, as U.S. President Donald Trump appeared increasingly likely to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal and reinforce sanctions on Tehran. In addition, OPEC has announced plans to bolster prices and cap production. For oil investors, Money MorningGlobal Energy Strategist Dr. Kent Moors says it’s time to buckle up. According to Moors, revoking the Iran deal would cause “price chaos” around the globe. And that’s right as driving season starts in the United States. Here’s more on the coming chaos for oil. In deal news, Blackstone Group (NYSE: BX) announced it will purchase Gramercy Property Trust (NYSE: GPT) for $7.6 billion in cash. Grammercy manages commercial real estate. While this may seem like a boring deal, Blackstone is buying a business that churns out cold hard cash for its investors. We want to keep this deal on your radar, because there are many other deals like this coming down the pipeline. We’re going to be discussing one of the best real estate opportunities available very soon – so keep an eye out for updates.

That’s decent news for Mother Earth, but potentially challenging news for automakers such as Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) given the high R&D expenses needs to support electric car roll-outs.

  • [By ]

Here’s everything you must know before Thursday’s opening bell:

Facebook (FB) posted first-quarter earnings and revenue that beat analysts’ expectations. Ford (F) plans to shed most of its North American car lineup as customer preference has shifted to pickups and crossovers.  Deutsche Bank (DB) said it was planning “significant” job cuts for its global investment banking division. • [By Daniel Miller]

Some investors are still surprised when they find out that the financial divisions of Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F) and General Motors (NYSE:GM) are among the most profitable parts of the automakers’ operations.

  • [By Douglas A. McIntyre]

General Motors Co.’s (NYSE: GM) Cadillac was rumored to begin to prune its dealer network in 2015, but the decision was shelved. Whether manufacturers GM and Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) might completely spin out Lincoln and Cadillac dealers from those thatsell nonluxury brands may depend in part on the Hyundai experiment. BMW, Mercedes and Audi have the benefit that their sales and service operations are not generally married to those of less expensive cars.

“If you look back to the 70s, 80s and 90s, in every of those decades the industry found at least one 50+ million ounce gold deposit, at least ten 30+ million ounce deposits and countless five to 10 million ounce deposits. But if you look at the last 15 years, we found no 50 million ounce deposit, no 30 million ounce deposit and only very few 15 million ounce deposits,” Pierre Lassonde, chair of gold royalty and income stream company Franco-Nevada Corp. (NYSE: FNV), told German financial newspaper Finanz und Wirtschaft last October.

  • [By Dan Caplinger]

Franco-Nevada (NYSE:FNV) went public in the U.S. market more than a decade ago, and over that time, the company has established itself as a major player in an important niche in the natural resources industry. Franco-Nevada neither mines gold nor drills for oil, but by helping to finance projects that mining companies and oil drillers want to pursue, it ensures it can get a cut of the profits. That’s been a winning business model lately, and throughout its history as a publicly traded company, Franco-Nevada has stood out for one thing that it’s done consistently well: paying and raising its dividend regularly over time.

Top Casino Stocks To Own For 2019

Massachusetts gambling regulators want to know why Steve Wynn and Wynn Resorts failed to disclose a $7.5 million settlement when they were applying for a state license in 2013.

The settlement will be a primary part of the investigation as it moves forward, investigators said at a meeting Wednesday.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission announced Sunday that it’s reviewing the license it issued for Wynn Boston Harbor, a $2.1 billion casino and hotel project set to open in 2019. The commission could ultimately decide to alter, suspend or revoke the license as a result.

The probe follows a Wall Street Journal investigation published last week that detailed decades of sexual misconduct allegations against Wynn, the 76-year-old founder and CEO of Wynn Resorts (WYNN).

Wynn has denied all the charges against him, calling them “preposterous.”

Karen Wells, director of the commission’s investigations team, said Wednesday that during the state’s “suitability” review of both Wynn and Wynn Resorts, no one disclosed a $7.5 million settlement that had been paid to a manicurist over sexual misconduct claims she made in 2005.

Warren Buffett likes to hold his stock positions for the long run, and his experience with USG (NYSE:USG) has been typical of his other long-term investments. The Oracle of Omaha started buying shares of the manufacturer of Sheetrock drywall and other building materials back in 2000, accumulating a sizable stake that has ballooned to more than 30% of the company. USG ended up going through bankruptcy in order to get a handle on its asbestos liability claims, but thanks largely to Buffett’s involvement, the building materials company not only survived bankruptcy but also saw share prices soar briefly on hopes that USG would once again fully participate in the then-strong housing boom.

  • [By Jordan Wathen]

As USG Corporation (NYSE:USG) drags its feet on an offer to sell the company for $42 per share, Berkshire intends to use its 30.8% ownership stake to motivate its top brass to make a deal. Berkshire told Bloomberg it intends to vote its shares against USG’s board members who are up for re-election at this year’s annual meeting, a clear message that Buffett is ready to cash in, even if USG’s management and board are not.

Top Casino Stocks To Own For 2019: Ford Motor Company(F)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Nicholas Rossolillo]

Ford (NYSE:F) reported first-quarter 2018 earnings that showed improving financial conditions for the automaker. Ford has lagged the rest of the industry the last couple of years, so it is putting emphasis on cutting costs and freshening its vehicle lineup. However, the company is also investing in the future of mobility and setting itself up for auto industry leadershipin a world that is reimagining how to get around.

  • [By John Rosevear]

Offsetting those losses to some extent were strong sales of GM’s new line of crossover SUVs, which are more profitable than the models they replaced. And take note: GM’s EBIT-adjusted margin of 7.2% handily beat both the 4.4% reported by Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) for the first quarter and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles'(NYSE:FCAU) 6% result.

Top Performing Stocks To Invest In 2019

The hottest oil stock from the U.S. shale boom has never pumped a single barrel of crude.

Texas Pacific Land Trust, a listed land bank created out of a railroad bankruptcy more than a century ago, has climbed more than 2,200 percent since 2010, outperforming the stocks of shale oil producers, service companies and prospectors alike. It’s now worth more than $5 billion.

Its secret: vast tracts of mineral rights in the Permian Basin, the world’s hottest major oil region, earning revenues from the likes of Chevron Corp., which have to pay the trust when they produce from its land.

“This stock has been flying way underneath the radar for years,” said Eric Marshall, a Dallas-based fund manager at Hodges Capital Management Inc., an early investor and a top five shareholder, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. “The real activity in the Permian is now in the areas where they have the most acreage.”

Top Performing Stocks To Invest In 2019: Ford Motor Company(F)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Douglas A. McIntyre]

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) will lower the number of car nameplates it sells in the United States. According to Bloomberg:

Ford Motor Co. is sharpening its knives to cleave another $11.5 billion from spending plans and cut several sedans, including the Fusion and Taurus, from its lineup to more quickly reach an elusive profit target.

  • [By Douglas A. McIntyre]

The U.S. new car market can be broken into three huge segments. The first is sedans and coupes, many of which are light and get low gas mileage. These have become unpopular as gasoline prices have stayed low. The next is crossovers and sport utility vehicles, a market that has done well, again due to some extent on low gas prices. These vehicles tend to get fairly poor mileage ratings but the cost to operate them is also affected by low gas prices. The final segment is full-sized pickups. Many people do not know how large this segment is. It has only three vehicles. Among them, they will account for 2 million new sales this year. They are the leader, the Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) F-Series, followed by General Motor Co.’s (NYSE: GM) Chevy Silverado and the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (NYSE: FCAU) Ram. As a group, their sales will be up about 5% this year, against slightly lower sales for the entire industry.

  • [By John Rosevear]

There’s been a rash of news recently lamenting changes in the auto industry — including Ford’s (NYSE:F) move away from sedan production in the U.S. In this week’s episode of Industry Focus: Energy and Industrials, host Sarah Priestley talks with Motley Fool senior auto specialist John Rosevear about what’s happening in the auto industry and what it means for the future of cars, trucks, pickups, and SUVs.

  • [By ]

That’s good news for the industry as a whole — ranging from Tesla to General Motors Co.  (GM) , Ford Motor Co.  (F) , Volkswagen (VLKAY) and others.

  • [By Paul Ausick]

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) reports first-quarter earnings after the closing bell Wednesday. Year over year, earnings and revenues are expected to be slightly better, but it would probably be a stretch to say analysts are looking for a big surprise.

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Chuck Saletta]

Prudential Financial (NYSE:PRU) takes such pride in its rock-solid financial condition that it uses an actual rock — the Rock of Gibraltar– as its corporate symbol. Prudential Financial backs up that claim with a balance sheet that has more cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investmentsthan total debt on it. It also claims a debt-to-equity ratio around 0.6 and a current ratio around 1.0, which are further signs of a solid financial condition.

3 Earnings Season Highlights From Automakers

Earnings season is always hectic, fun, and full of information from all angles of any given industry. This time around, the automotive industry had quite an interesting first quarter: There were some wild comments from Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk, as well as a bold decision from Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), and an intriguing partnership deal fromAptiv (NYSE:APTV). Here’s what investors need to know.

A not-so-boring call

Tesla’s conference calls are never boring, and are generally full of information, hype, and intrigue. This one was no exception, albeit a little more bizarre than analysts expected.

Musk expressed annoyance with the discussion of accounting figures and what he deemed myopic questions — exactly what Wall Street cares about from quarter to quarter. It’s not difficult to understand his frustration, given his ambitions are much grander. Unfortunately, Musk became fed up, telling the operator that “Boring, bonehead questions are not cool. Next?” Musk later replied to another question with: “I’m not here to convince you to buy our stock. Do not buy it if volatility is scary. There you go.”

That’s just a small sample from the unique conference call.

But don’t let those comments overshadow Tesla — a company that has the potential to become an electric-vehicle empire — and some of its interesting figures from the quarter. Among them, Tesla revealed it had more than 450,000 Model 3 reservations at the end of the first quarter, and that it hoped to reach production of 5,000 per week in roughly two months (production hit 2,270 per week during April). And the company said it could begin production of the Model Y small crossover in early 2020.

On the downside, while the future could be incredibly bright, Tesla reported a net loss of $784.6 million and its cash flow was negative $1 billion for the third time in the past four quarters.

What we learned: Musk and Tesla will continue to think big, Wall Street will remain myopic, and the electric-vehicle maker’s conference calls will never be boring.

Farewell, cars

What’s a Detroit automaker without a passenger-car lineup? In 2008, then-CEO of Ford Alan Mulally might have said “shortsighted.” Today, CEO Jim Hackett would say something along the lines of… “a healthier Detroit automaker.”It sounds crazy, and it’s at least risky, but Ford announced it would soon stop selling most of its passenger-car lineup in the U.S. market, which is craving more SUVs, crossovers, and trucks. Only Ford’s Mustang will remain, along with the Focus Active, which will arrive in 2019 as a wagon version in lower volumes.

Ford anticipates that by the end of 2020, light trucks will generate 90% of its North American sales — that’s certainly one way to boost margins. The decision is part of Ford’s strategy to get “fit,” which essentially means to feed the healthy parts of the business and cut costs. On the latter point, last October Ford was aiming at cutting $14 billion in costs; it then updated that by targeting $25.5 billion in savings by 2022.

A blue Ford F-150 towing a boat

Ford’s F-150 hauls big bucks for the company. Image source: Ford Motor Company.

It’s a high-risk, high-reward strategy. UBS analyst Colin Langan estimates Ford loses $800 million annually selling light cars, according to Automotive News, and that would filter down nicely to Ford’s bottom line. However, the company also risks losing a customer base looking for an entry-level-priced vehicle, and of course there’s the risk of consumer demand switching away from larger vehicles. We’ll see how it shakes out.

It’s possible Ford could bend on this strategy. But the decision is certainly the wildest move under Hackett so far, and one of the most interesting takeaways from this earnings season.

The future is now

Many investors haven’t heard of Aptiv yet — formerly Delphi Automotive — but almost certainly will in the decades ahead. Aptiv is uniquely positioned to deliver end-to-end smart-mobility and driverless-vehicle technology solutions. We don’t yet know which service providers (think Uber and Lyft) will win market share, or which automakers (think Ford and General Motors) will develop the best electric fleets or driverless vehicles, or how Silicon Valley will play its angle. But Aptiv will be involved in many aspects as a supplier.

That became even more clear Wednesday when it announced a small project with Lyft. The company said it would launch a fleet of 30 autonomous vehicles in Las Vegas on the Lyft network; passengers will have the ability to hail a self-driving vehicle equipped with Aptiv technology to go between high-demand locations.

It’s projects like this that will enable companies to figure out exactly how they can monetize big data, services, and driverless technology, as those all intersect in the evolving automotive industry. It’s unclear how it will all shake out, how soon this market will become lucrative, and which companies will rise to the top to the benefit of their investors. But this small project between Aptiv and Lyft makes it clear that the future of driverless cars is on its way, soon.

Earnings season is always crazy, and always exciting, and the first quarter of 2018 was no different. When you have a CEO losing patience with financial questions, Detroit’s second-largest automaker giving up on cars in the U.S., and driverless-car projects getting underway, you know it’s going to be an interesting year and decade. The industry is likely to evolve more over the next two decades than it has over the past century — and that could be very lucrative to savvy investors.

Top 10 Heal Care Stocks To Buy For 2018: EQT Corporation(EQT)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Joel South and Taylor Muckerman]

In today’s segment, Joel South talks about an intriguing development from EQT Corp. (NYSE: EQT  ) and Green Field Services, where the companies drilled a multistage fracked natural gas well in the Marcellus shale using 100% field natural gas. Using natural gas from close wells instead ofdieselto power rigs could be another game changer as oil and gas companies continue to increase drilling efficiencies and thereby significantly lower costs.

  • [By Paul Ausick]

EQT Corp. (NYSE: EQT) is rated Hold and the price target was lowered to $69. The 2017 EPS estimate was also lowered, from $1.54 to $0.68, and the 2018 estimate was raised from $1.26 to $1.65. Shares closed at $59.29 on Friday, in a 52-week range of $56.38 to $80.61. The consensus 12-month price target is $83.00.

  • [By Gary Jakacky]

On the other hand, our economy shows more strength by the day. Oil prices remain stuck in a five year range. Natural gas prices are testing new lows: successful fracking techniques recently announced by EQT Corporation (EQT) in Seeking Alpha (10/17/2013 @ 2:29 PM on Market Currents) could cut over $1.5 billion from the costs of drilling for gas, as well as assuage "environmentalist" concerns about fracking. Fuel is a major cost for transportation companies. So maybe IYT can catch a third breath?

  • [By elliottwave]

EQT Corporation (NYSE: EQT) failed to make new highs and it’s now doing a double three correction from June 2016 peak which already reached the extreme area at $85.17 with enough number of swings to end that cycle. However in the short term, the stock can still extend toward the equal legs area $50.67 from December 2016 peak before buyers show up to resume the rally or bounce in 3 waves at least while holding above $47.10 low

Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM) is still correcting an older cycle from August 2015 doing a flat structure from July 2016 peak and currently at the last leg of wave (C) that could ideally reach the equal legs area $79.88 – $76.72 before the stock start bouncing in 3 waves at least. The flat structure is tricky because it can always extend but XOM needs to hold above $66.55 to continue its multi-year bullish trend.

Top 10 Heal Care Stocks To Buy For 2018: Cincinnati Financial Corporation(CINF)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Cincinnati Financial (CINF) tumbled to the bottom of the S&P 500 today after the insurer warned of larger catastrophe losses and lower reserve releases.

    Getty Images

    Cincinnati Financialdropped 6.7% to $69.91 today, while the S&P 500 declined 0.2% to 2,270.44.

Sandler O’Neil’s Paul Newsome and team explain why Cincinnati Financial got hammered today:

On January 12, 2017, before the market opened, CINF pre-announced 4Q16 catastrophe loss estimates and underwriting results. The company expects 4Q16 earnings to include pre-tax catastrophe losses of approximately $75 million to $85 million, representing an impact on the combined ratio of approximately 6.5 to 7.5 percentage points, based on estimated property casualty earned premiums…

While the press release headline led with higher catastrophe losses, the real issue was less favorable reserve development related to the companys commercial casualty line.Cincinnati Financial has been growing faster than its peers for some time. The company has been growing primarily due to geographic expansion which is better than growth through price cutting. Nevertheless, growth during a soft market is difficult and the fourth quarter profit warning will likely lead to renewed concerns thatCincinnati Financial cannot maintain its excellent profitability in its commercial insurance business.

Cincinnati Financial’s market capitalization fell to $11.5 billion today from $12.3 billion yesterday. It reported net income of $634 million on sales of $5.2 billion in 2015.

FDx Advisors Inc.’s holdings in Cincinnati Financial were worth $3,236,000 at the end of the most recent reporting period.

Top 10 Heal Care Stocks To Buy For 2018: Coach, Inc.(COH)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

When we examined historical transactions in the specialty retail sector, we noticed a wide range of valuations. Select relevant transactions to consider would be ~2x EV/Sales Coach (COH) paid for Stuart Weitzman, Samsonites acquisition of Tumi at 14x EV/EBITDA, 13x EV/EBITDA for Joseph A. Banks by Mens Wearhouse (TLRD) and Kerings acquisition of Volcom for 18x EV/EBITDA. We believe potential valuation could be as high as ~2x EV/ Sales and ~14x EV/EBITDA given Kate Spade’s unique growth profile to expand to ~$4bn in revenue (from $1.4bn in FY16) and improving profitability from 12% EBIT margin TY to at least HTeens-LDD, in our view (Coach is 18.7% and Michael Kors (KORS) is 21.3%). On these two metrics, Kate Spade would be valued at $21-23…

We still expect a deal to happen, but do lower our probability from 80% to 70% given the likelihood that potential buyer(s) and KATE have not agreed on a clearing price in earlier rounds of negotiation. We believe a bidder such as Coach (COH) does not want to overpay, is disciplined about managing ROIC, and returns and synergies split may be more rational at an offer price in the range of $22-25. We continue to believe KATE has a long global growth runway ahead with opportunities for store growth abroad, further expansion into non-handbag categories, and supply + digital synergy potential…We rate KATE Market Perform and lower our price target to $21 (was $27). Our updated valuation is based on ~10x our FY18E adj. EBITDA or $284mm.

Top 10 Heal Care Stocks To Buy For 2018: Ford Motor Company(F)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Daniel Miller]

Whether it’s sports or stocks, coaches or CEOs, nobody likes to be on the hot seat. However, for both Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) investors and CEO Mark Fields, his seat is heating up. A few days before Ford’s annual meeting of shareholders on May 11, it was reported that the automaker’s board of directors was applying pressure on Fields about his strategy to improve profits faster and how best to light a fire under a stagnant share price.

Hot High Tech Stocks For 2019

My Top Pick for speculative investors for 2017 is the company that operates the most popular Internet search engine in the largest Internet market in the world, explains global expert Paul Goodwin, editor of Cabot Emerging Markets Investor.

Baidu (BIDU) is the choice of most of the nearly 700 million Chinese who go online every month. The company’s success springs from the accuracy and ease of use of its Chinese-language search engine.

BIDU ran into trouble in 2011 and 2012, as it lost out to more nimble competitors during the massive Chinese switchover to mobile devices as the primary way to access the internet.

But BIDU soared from $83 in March 2015 to $252 in November 2014, its all-time high. Since that high, BIDU has been up and down, but has traded in a steadily tightening range.

The result is a stock with a bargain basement 11 P/E and a huge capital spending program that is moving the company into mobile payments, online marketplaces and performance-based online market services.

Hot High Tech Stocks For 2019: Ford Motor Company(F)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Douglas A. McIntyre]

Car dealers often carry the financial consequences of decisions manufacturers make about model line, model distribution, and model survival. Among the best examples of this is when GM (NYSE: GM) shuttered Pontiac, Hummer, Oldsmobile, and Saturn almost 15 years ago as the largest car company struggled to survive. Ford (NYSE: F) is in a related struggle, although not life threatening. It will kill the Taurus, Fusion, C-Max, and Fiesta. Some of its dealers will be left with only two car brands– the Mustang and new Focus Active

Current market dynamics, particularly in the SMID biotech universe, provide a plethora of opportunities for the company to augment the breadth and depth its pipeline in its core therapeutic areas, including neurology, ophthalmology and dermatology, where innovation is rife and where consolidation of some of the smaller players in the space is likely, in our view. Stocks in our SMID coverage universe that could potentially constitute future acquisition targets forAllergan include Aclaris Therapeutics (ACRS) and Dermira (DERM) (both have mid- to late-stage dermatology assets in development). We note with interest the collaboration with Heptares announced yesterday evening for the development of several M1, M4 and dual M1/M4 agonists in development for a variety of neurological diseases, including Alzheimers disease. Notwithstanding this above, larger scale transactions of course cannot be ruled out, and we note todays market commentary (Fox Business) regarding the potential sale of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International’s (VRX) Bausch & Lomb unit. It is reasonable to assume thatAllergan could be a bidder for this asset, given the companys presence in ophthalmology, as well as CEO Brent Saunders familiarity with the asset (he was the CEO prior to its sale toValeant in 2013 for $8.7bn). At the time of its sale to Valeant, B&L was generating c.$3bn in revenues and growing at a double-digit rate. Current sales of the asset are unclear due to the reporting structure of Valeant, as well as concerns regarding the companys operating/ pricing strategy.

Top 10 Clean Energy Stocks To Buy Right Now

Ive been right about Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) thus far.

There seem to be only two schools on Tesla. You either love the carmaker, or you hate it with a passion. I fall into the latter category, not because I’m anti clean energy, or opposed to new entries to the auto industry, but because of the grandiose and inefficient management history the company has had under Elon Musk. Ive written often about the competition and general cutthroat nature of the auto industry that Tesla faces. Ive been waiting for some time to see signs of Teslas inability to ramp up car production in a way that justifies its wild stock valuation. And boy howdy have I taken some flak in the comments section.

This week has given me some vindication on my feelings about Tesla. The stock is down on rough news of production complications, and a fading faith in Elon Musks rhetoric, something I said would happen. The valuation is not justified, and cannot be justified when youre selling such a small amount of cars and not turning any profit. I get it that this stock performance is about future potential earnings, but the company is not putting together concrete evidence that it is working toward those types of numbers.

Top 10 Clean Energy Stocks To Buy Right Now: Atkore International Group Inc. (ATKR)

Advisors’ Opinion:

Flexing the barbell strategy to balance Safe Havens with more cyclical exposures. In our view, industrials investors should be positioning their portfolio with a barbell strategy, with half of the exposure in Safe Havens like General Electric, Xylem (XYL), Danaher, Honeywell International, Roper Technologies (ROP), and AMETEK (AME), and the other half selectively in the cyclical names that are better positioned today, such as Pentair, HD Supply Holdings (HDS),Actuant (ATU), Atkore International Group (ATKR), Ingersoll-Rand, and Eaton (ETN). We still believe risk-reward is mostly balanced and that the macro will remain choppy into 2017, supporting a positioning in the defensive names. But if investor sentiment improves on not-worse news and earnings results, the more cyclical names could fare better.

Top 10 Clean Energy Stocks To Buy Right Now: Fitbit, Inc.(FIT)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Nicholas Rossolillo]

It has been a year worth forgetting for shareholders of Fitbit (NYSE:FIT). The wearables maker has seen sales sputter and profitability took a big hit thanks to a steep increase in expenses. However, much of that money has been aggressively put into research and development in the past year. While that has contributed to the dismal-looking bottom line, investing for the future is a good thing.

  • [By James E. Brumley]

While the economy’s natural — and recurring — cycles favor different kinds of stocks at different times, not every great trend is necessarily a cyclical one. Sometimes, a trend is rooted in a technological development that changes cultural norms. The advent of the smartphone, for example, has made constant connectivity to the world around part of how we live our daily lives.

These mega-trends present tremendous opportunities for investors too, provided they’re savvy enough to see them coming and play them the right way.

One such mega-trend newly underway right now is the proliferation of wearables… devices that meld clothing (often a wrist-worn device) and technology to perform a function that couldn’t be performed otherwise. Much of the same technology that made the smartphone possible are now ushering in wearables.

It’s not been a smooth beginning. however.

While the buzz was strong and expectations reached a peak two years ago when Fitbit Inc (NYSE:FIT) was all the rage and in the wake of its IPO, the company’s growth wasn’t to be sustained. The company is struggling to muster any growth now, and FIT shares have fallen to a tenth of their value seen in late-2015, when the euphoria was strongest.

Fitbit’s slowdown has been mirrored by other companies in the space. The wearables market only grew 3.1% in Q3 of 2016.

On the flipside, while the debacle of Fitbit — the wearable industry’s iconic company — has been a painful, it’s also been a learning experience. And, it’s not as if the slowdown is unfurling without the wearables market never reaching a respectable size. International Data Corporation estimates were 23 million ‘wearables’ delivered in the third quarter of last year alone.

Moreover, the fizzling of the market hasn’t turned into a reason to swear off wearables as an investment opportunity… quite the opposite, actually. It’s just now become considerably clearer what consumers want an

Top 10 Clean Energy Stocks To Buy Right Now: Ford Motor Company(F)

Advisors’ Opinion:

Ford’s (NYSE:F)decision to take on more long-termdebt could be a sign of things to come for the auto manufacturer. The company is borrowing $2 billion making it the first time the company will be accessing the debt market in 4 years. Currently, Ford’s debt to equity ratio is 2.86 so this will obviously increase once more debt is added on the books. I have stated in myprevious commentary that Ford will want it’s electrified and autonomous technology to pay off in the near term.

Earlier in the month, California-basedelectric car manufacturer Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) surpassed Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) and General Motors (NYSE:GM) to become the most valuable U.S car company. While the traditional auto manufacturers are getting hit by the slowdown in the U.S auto industry, there seems to be no impact on Tesla Inc. For the month of March, both Ford and General Motorsreported a miss on deliveries. Ford Motor saw its deliveries fall by over 7% YoY in March while GM’s deliveriesgrew by just over 1%. In contrast, Tesla Inc reported 69% YoY increase in deliveries (albeit on much smaller base) handsomely beating analysts estimates. As a result, while Tesla stock has surged, shares of Ford Motor and GM took a hit. Over the past one month, shares of Tesla Inc have gained more than 20%, while GM and Ford have seen their shares fall by around 10% in the same period.

Top 10 Clean Energy Stocks To Buy Right Now: Abeona Therapeutics Inc.(ABEO)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jim Robertson]

On Thursday, our Under the Radar Moversnewsletter suggested shorting small cap rare disease stock Abeona Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: ABEO):

Abeona Therapeutics is clearly a timing trade – we think today’s something of a blowoff top, marked by a volume surge and the fact that the stock’s already peeling back from its peak; the profit-takers are already going to work. We saw a similar surge on Tuesday, and though that one didn’t end up kick-starting a pullback, it helped set up today’s reversal bar (by virtue of luring in the last of the would-be buyers). There’s just not a lot of room left for more upside.

Small and micro cap stocks can obviously be a fickle bunch, but I sure hope all of you participated in Abeona Therapeutics Inc. (ABEO) back when we first put the idea out there in early June. What a tremendous stock this has been for all of us, and it’s not like this happens all of the time.

You Can Root for General Motors Company Stock, but Don’t Buy It

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) is once again worth more than Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA). Not that this is helping GM shareholders. GM stock is down 13% so far in 2018 but Tesla is down 17%, as both companies try to scale production of electric cars and fight a rear-guard legal action against autonomous vehicles.

GM’s entrant in the low-cost electric race is the Chevrolet Bolt. It plans to double Bolt production later this year even though it is not advertising the car.  It sold 26,000 Bolts last year, out of 160,000 total electrics, and thinks it can undercut the Tesla Model 3 on pricing.

Both GM and Tesla expect to pass 200,000 sales of electrics within the next few months. They are about even in market share.

GM also hopes to produce self-driving Bolts next year and then launch a car sharing business around them.

The Reinvention of GM

While Tesla has been doing this from a standing start, GM has been slowly reinventing itself under CEO Mary Barra.

It’s not easy. GM is losing share in Korea, it is renewing its Cadillac brand with an SUV, and it needs to maintain a dividend that currently yields 4.2%. The dividend is why investors buy the stock, and its yield badly trails that of Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), which is at 5.4%.

While GM faces Tesla in electrics, it is facing Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and its Waymo unit in autonomy. It has been planning to have fully autonomous cars by next year, logging over 131,000 miles with 105 incidents where humans had to take over last year.

Analysts remain skeptical it can pull all this off. There are currently 24 following the stock , slightly fewer than half calling it a buy, expecting $1.28 per share of earnings on $34.12 billion of revenue when it next reports April 26.

Do We Need This?

The big question for analysts is whether the market wants any of this.

The Trump Administration is working to kill the mileage standards, the best-selling car in America remains the Ford F-150 monster pick-up truck, and the self-driving car crowd is getting caught in the backwash of the Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) scandal, with some questioning the cars’ need for data, and bicyclists wanting regulators to put the brakes on them.

But ready or not, Barra says, the future is coming. While GM works to get its Bolt ready for the self-driving revolution, Waymo says it is already there, and will turn 20,000 Jaguars into self-driving cabs for its coming ride-hailing service that could do one million trips per day by 2020. That’s two years from now.

Is GM Stock a Bargain?

Meanwhile, GM stock continues to languish at values that would shame any tech investor, as it has since it emerged from bankruptcy.

GM stock now sells for just five times its roughly $10 billion in annual operating income. It’s at barely one-third its annual sales – Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST) sells at about half its revenue. Operating cash flow came in last year at over $17 billion, for a stock with a market cap of under $51 billion.

I don’t own GM stock, because I don’t expect capital gains from it (it’s up only 6% over the last year) and because Ford’s yield is a lot better. I prefer to root for it from the sidelines because it has 180,000 employees and is thus a proxy for U.S. manufacturing.

Barra has what may be the hardest job in America.
