The driller, which also went on a spending spree last year, including buying rival RSP Permian for $9.5 billion, is reducing its 2019 spending plan to $2.9 billion. Top Undervalued Stocks To Buy Right Now

Shares of Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) got a boost Wednesday after a rare “double upgrade” from Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS).

After four years of bearish ratings for Ford stock, Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas pushed the stock’s rating up two notches, calling it “overweight” – an indication that it’s undervalued. He set a price target of $15, compared to Tuesday’s closing price of $10.78.

Perhaps Morgan Stanley’s analysts have been reading Money Morning, because we’ve been telling people not to count Ford out for over a year.

In January of last year, Money Morning Executive Editor Bill Patalon recommended using an “accumulation mindset” toward Ford stock, buying a little bit at a time.

Knowing that, we asked a team of Motley Fool contributors to highlight a stock that they think is a better bet than bitcoin from here, and they came up with Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK-A)(NYSE:BRK-B), PayPal (NASDAQ:PYPL), and HealthEquity (NASDAQ:HQY).

  • [By Brian Feroldi]

So where am I going to invest my capital? While I’m still refining my list, here are seven stocks that I currently own that I’m strongly considering adding to:

Hubspot (NYSE: HUBS) — A software-as-a-service provider that is pioneering the shift toward “inbound” marketing. HealthEquity (NASDAQ: HQY) — A fast-growing company focused on Health Savings Accounts that boasts three sources of recurring revenue. Axon Enterprise (NASDAQ: AAXN) — The leading provider of Taser stun guns, law enforcement body cameras, and evidence-management software. Paycom Software (NYSE: PAYC) — A founder-led payroll-processor company that is gobbling up market share. Adobe Systems (NASDAQ: ADBE) — The company’s push to the cloud is driving double-digit gains in revenue and profits. AppFolio (NASDAQ: APPF) — A software-as-a-service provider focused on servicing business owners in several niche markets.  BlackLine (NASDAQ: BL) — A software company that is attempting to bring the accounting process into the 21st century.

All seven of these businesses are poised to deliver double-digit organic revenue and profit growth over the next five years. That’s a prospect I find quite enticing, and I think the odds are very favorable that they’ll outperform Apple as a group from here.

Top 10 Medical Stocks To Buy Right Now

Like it or not, by the time you turn 30, you’re basically a full-fledged adult, and with that comes certain financial responsibilities you’ll need to get a handle on. Here are three money-related goals you should aim to achieve by age 30.

1. Have a fully loaded emergency fund

Life has a way of surprising us, both for better and for worse. But sometimes, those unpleasant surprises come in the form of automobile breakdowns, busted appliances at home, or medical bills that catch us off guard. And let’s not forget the possibility of getting laid off at work — something that can happen to even the most diligent employees among us.

That’s why it’s crucial to have a healthy emergency fund. While you might struggle to sock away that money when you’re younger, by the time you turn 30, that account should be nice and robust. At a minimum, your emergency fund should contain enough cash to cover three months’ worth of living expenses, but for better protection, aim for six months’ worth. This means that if you typically spend $3,000 a month on bills, your goal should be to have $18,000 in savings.

Top 10 Medical Stocks To Buy Right Now: Macy's Inc(M)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Adam Levine-Weinberg]

Macy’s (NYSE:M) wrapped up its 2018 fiscal year last week. The iconic department store giant won’t report its full results until later this month, but it already reduced its full-year earnings per share guidance to a range of $3.95 to $4.00 in an early January investor update. (On the bright side, that’s still higher than Macy’s initial EPS forecast for fiscal 2018.)

  • [By Rich Duprey]

The retailer puts part of the blame on the weather, but the cooler temps didn’t seem to effect Macy’s (NYSE: M), which reported truly robust results that had many expecting J.C. Penney would follow suit. Although Macy’s did say a few markets were impacted, they were offset by others that were not. That weather should drag down Penney when it has more stores than its rival — which should have spread out the impact more — indicates it is more of an excuse than a reason.

  • [By George Budwell]

This stock trades like a small-cap biotech, but a couple of candidates coming through its pipeline could help push annual revenue past the $1 billion mark. Plus, by this time next year, the company could have half a dozen or so new candidates in clinical trials.

Hot Energy Stocks To Own For 2019

Four companies completed initial public offerings (IPOs) last week and a total of 10 are on the calendar for this week. If all 10 companies successfully price their IPOs at the midpoint of their expected ranges, the combined capital raise would total $3.1 billion.

Hot Energy Stocks To Own For 2019: Shell Midstream Partners, L.P.(SHLX)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Reuben Gregg Brewer]

There’s an interesting dichotomy here, however. Crestwood was looking to stay financially disciplined, but it also needed to invest to grow. Doing both at the same time is difficult, which is why it partnered up with Con Ed in the Marcellus region, Shell Midstream Partners LP (NYSE:SHLX) and First Reserve in the Delaware Basin, and Williams Partners (NYSE:WPZ) in the Powder River basin. These agreements allow Crestwood to keep expanding its business without having to foot the entire bill for the investments.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Most investors have probably heard of energy giants Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE:RDS-A) (NYSE:RDS-B), Dominion Energy (NYSE:D), and TransCanada (NYSE:TRP). Fewer, however, are likely familiar with their publicly traded master limited partnerships (MLPs): Shell Midstream Partners (NYSE:SHLX), Dominion Energy Midstream Partners (NYSE:DM), and TC Pipelines (NYSE:TCP). That might be a good thing, as the market has beaten up the latter trio this year, sending their valuations south.

Pontoon boats are a versatile vessel as they can be used for fishing, sports, cruising, and day trips. That latter part is key because rival boatmaker Brunswick (NYSE:BC) — which Polaris used to have a business relationship with when it was in the marine market — says that overnight trips with boats are fading. Industry site Boat Industry quotes Brunswick’s freshwater boat group President Jeff Kinsey as saying, “There’s been a clear shift toward day boating, and that speaks directly to the pontoon with its seating capacity, its open space, its amenities and its comfort.”

Energy was the other S&P sector in the green yesterday, helped by rising oil prices and excitement about the tie up between Marathon Petroleum Corp (NYSE: MPC) and Andeavor (NYSE: ANDV). Devon Energy Corp (NYSE: DVN) was the biggest gainer in the sector, rising more than 5 percent after the company raised its annual production forecast. (See more on oil below.)

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Saudi Aramco’s valuation, however, isn’t the only one that would benefit from a pop in the price of crude. Many oil producers in the U.S. restructured their operations to run on $50 oil, so if the Saudi strategy is successful, these oil companies would produce a gusher of cash flow, which could fuel high-octane gains for investors. While that rise would likely lift the entire sector, Devon Energy (NYSE:DVN) and Marathon Oil (NYSE:MRO)could outperform in that scenario.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

As expected, EOG Resources’ U.S. oil output came in above the midpoint of its forecast and was up 15% year over year. Fueling that high-end result were the many wells EOG completed across its vast shale portfolio. The company completed 70 wells in the Delaware Basin during the quarter, with several producing more than 2,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOE/D) in their first month. While the company didn’t match Devon Energy’s (NYSE:DVN) record-smashing 24,000 BOE/D two-well gusher, its wells were highly productive and generated excellent returns.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Oil prices have continued rebounding this year, with the U.S. benchmark price WTI up another 7% to around $65 per barrel. That improving oil price has helped drive up most oil stocks. I say most because Devon Energy (NYSE:DVN), Apache (NYSE:APA), and Newfield Exploration (NYSE:NFX) are flat to down so far this year because investors seem to have overlooked them entirely. Because of that, they trade for a dirt-cheap valuation versus their peers, making them intriguing options to consider.

Hot Energy Stocks To Own For 2019: Concho Resources Inc.(CXO)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

ConocoPhillips’ global portfolio is proving to be a big competitive advantage because 70% of its oil production sells at Brent pricing, which is the global oil benchmark. Currently, Brent fetches more than $75 per barrel, while WTI, the U.S. benchmark, sells for $10 less a barrel. In the meantime, due to the lack of adequate pipeline takeaway capacity in the Permian, oil in that region currently sells for less than $60 a barrel, thereby pinching producer profits. That lower oil priceis much less of a concern for ConocoPhillips, according to Bernstein, since it only gets 4% to 5% of its production from the Permian whereas pure-play Permian producers like Concho Resources (NYSE:CXO) only produce from that region. That’s why Bernstein downgraded Concho’s stock from outperform to market perform while slashing its price target from $180 a share all the way down to $130.

  • [By Ethan Ryder]

Tredje AP fonden grew its stake in Concho Resources (NYSE:CXO) by 4.4% during the 1st quarter, according to its most recent disclosure with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The institutional investor owned 13,417 shares of the oil and natural gas company’s stock after acquiring an additional 560 shares during the quarter. Tredje AP fonden’s holdings in Concho Resources were worth $2,017,000 at the end of the most recent quarter.

Top 10 Energy Stocks To Watch For 2018

Is it time to buy the best energy companies? Maybe yes, maybe not. I imagine the price of oil will back and fill for a few more months. You never know. But two things we do know:

(1) America will still need more oil and gas than it did last year, which was more than the year before, and that consumption was still higher than the preceding year, and

(2) The Permian Basin of west Texas and southeastern New Mexico, which currently produces 25% of all US oil, is likely to grow that percentage and add significant natural gas production as well. The most prolific basin in the USA is the biggest beneficiary of advanced drilling technologies that didn’t exist 5 years ago. We’ve always known the oil and gas were there – now the techniques exist to get to them.

Apache Corp (NYSE:APA) just announced a huge increase in oil reserves based upon more thorough seismic mapping of its properties, sending its stock higher by 7% in one day. The graphic below comes to us from Apache via Marketwatch (along with the in-frame typo) and shows that their big discovery is in the Delaware Formation of the Permian.

Top 10 Energy Stocks To Watch For 2018: ConocoPhillips(COP)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Oil prices have been on fire over the past year and recently topped $70 a barrel, which is the highest crude has been since late 2014. That rally in the oil market has helped fuel big-time gains in many oil stocks. Three that stand out are Anadarko Petroleum (NYSE:APC), Hess (NYSE:HES), and ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) because each has risen more than 20% this year. They might still have additional upside from here given that all three plan on spending billions of dollars to buy back more of their stock.

  • [By Alexander Bird]

From 2016 to 2017, Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) saw a 16% boost in profits, while Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX) saw a 30% boost. Texas-based ConocoPhillips Corp. (NYSE: COP) saw a strong 37.5% boost.

  • [By ]

As things stand right now, analysts anticipate that at least some Iranian oil will come off the market as a result of the sanctions. That lost output would further tighten an oil market that suddenly has little margin for error thanks to red-hot demand and tame supply growth. That’s the recipe for higher oil prices and could make top-tier U.S. oil stocks Anadarko Petroleum (NYSE:APC), Devon Energy (NYSE:DVN), and ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) big winners in the coming years.

  • [By The Ticker Tape]

TD Ameritrade clients appeared to take some profits in multiple names during the period. Oil companies were popular sells with ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP), BP  PLC (ADR) (NYSE: BP), National-Oilwell Varco Inc. (NYSE: NOV), and Transocean LTD (NYSE: RIG) all net sold. Oil prices traded near three-year highs on higher global demand and possible OPEC-led production cuts. COP and BP both traded at multi-year highs, while NOV and RIG reached 52-week highs, enticing clients to take profits in all four names. Alcoa Corp. (NYSE: AA) traded at levels not seen since before the financial crisis following proposed tariffs on steel and aluminum, and was net sold. For the third month in a row, Facebook, Inc. (NASDAQ: FB) was net sold after CEO Mark Zuckerberg testified before Congress regarding the misuse of user data and a beat on earnings.

That’s the case for Sunoco (NYSE: SUN). After posting a net loss of $0.09 per share in 2017, the gas station owner is expected to swing to a hefty profit of $2.35 per share in 2018. But of the 14 analysts who follow the company, earnings estimates range as low as $1.22 and as high as $3.35 — so there is a high degree of uncertainty.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

The only segment where earnings declined was the catch-all one labeled “all other,” which houses different investments such as its stake in Sunoco L.P. (NYSE:SUN) and PES, a refining joint venture. PES has struggled due to higher costs, and recently declared bankruptcy. Meanwhile, Energy Transfer’s earnings from Sunoco L.P. declined because that entity sold the bulk of its retail assets and then used that cash to repurchase a portion of Energy Transfer’s investment.

Sunoco (NYSE:SUN) released its quarterly earnings results on Wednesday. Anyone that has watched oil prices tick up recently has probably expected oil producers to report some impressive earnings results this past quarter, and Statoil (NYSE:STO) did just that with a 21% boost to the bottom line. At the same time, management is using all of its additional cash to do some wheeling and dealing that should help boost its growth possibilities in the nearer term.

Another highlight in April was that Shell gave the green light to the Vito project, which is a joint venture with Statoil (NYSE:STO) in the Gulf of Mexico. Shell and Statoil were able to cut that project’s cost estimate by 70% from the original design so that it’s now profitable at $35 a barrel. Top 10 Energy Stocks To Watch Right Now

By Andrew Sebastian

Liberal growth and conservative financing may seem contradictory at first, but the two are not mutually exclusive as Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE:EPD) proves. EPD is undergoing rapid development with $5.6 billion worth of capital projects under current construction, that will start adding to the company’s top and bottom lines starting in 2018. In 2016, over $2 billion worth of projects have been completed or will be completed by year’s end. They include gas processing plants, oil storage facilities and ethane export terminals – a diversification of EPD’s revenue streams that will only continue into 2018. Many of EPD’s current pipelines have upwards of double the capacity, so there is tremendous opportunity for growth. EPD certainly will not be hindered by capacity.

EPD has maintained an investment grade credit rating at Baa1/BBB+ while other MLPs and energy companies have seen their ratings fall in the face of declining energy prices. EPD’s business model is what allows it to keep a healthy credit profile. Although units of EPD may trade at a high correlation to energy prices, the actual underlying fundamentals of the business are not entirely tied to them. EPD’s success comes from its fee-based business with fixed contracts tied to the volume of oil and natural gas it stores and transports, regardless of the prices for oil and natural gas. Only about 15% of EPD’s gross margin is tied directly to oil and gas prices, so a sustained environment in which prices remained subdued does not mean falling cash flow. EPD investors can rest assured that the distributions will keep coming.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will meet Monday with lawmakers, including members of committees holding hearings this week on the Cambridge Analytica scandal, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The company has faced a fierce backlash since news broke last month that Cambridge Analytica, a London-based data analytics group that worked for the 2016 Trump campaign, was able to obtain information about tens of millions of users. The news of Monday’s meetings was reported earlier by Reuters.

Zuckerberg is scheduled to go before a joint hearing of the Senate Judiciary and Commerce committees on Tuesday, and then the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday.

Facebook on Monday will begin alerting the 87 million users whose data may have been harvested by Cambridge Analytica.

The company plans to post a link at the top of users’ news feeds that will allow them to see which apps are connected to their Facebook accounts and what information those apps are permitted to see.

Our peer group is up an average of 46% over the past 4 weeks in response to a 30% rebound in the 12-month strip NYMEX oil price. Some of the largest gainers include Hold and Sell rated stocks that we would not chase such asDenbury Resources (Sell, +138%), Halcon Resources (HK) (Sell, +147%), Jones Energy (JONE) (Hold, +166%), Rex Energy (REXX) (Sell, +60%), Sanchez Energy (SN) (Hold, +93%), Ultra Petroleum (UPL) (Sell, +61%), andWhiting Petroleum (Hold, +103%), which have outperformed the E&P Index (+32%) over the same time period. Balance sheets and/or well level returns remain challenged for these companies despite improved oil prices. While we believe oil markets should re-balance over the next 12 to 15 months, the recent recovery to $40 could reverse during 2Q16 as bloated inventories continue to rise, new volumes from Iran pressure an oversupplied market, and a highly anticipated decline in non-OPEC supply (especially in the U.S.), is not as steep as expected. The risk of an oil price retracement, which would significantly pressure the recent out-performers, outweighs the upside in these stocks, in our view. However, we are raising our target prices on Buy ratedAnadarko Petroleum ($54 from $48), Concho Resources (CXO) ($120 from $109), Matador Resources (MTDR) ($22 from $21),Noble Energy (NBL) ($40 from $34), SM Energy (SM) ($22 from $15), Rice Energy ($14 from $12), Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD) ($155 from $135),Continental Resources ($32 from $28), and Parsley Energy (PE) ($24 from $23). We believe our Buy-rated stocks are better positioned to weather challenging oil markets.

Venezuela faces shortages of food, water, medicine, electricity and money.

But its state-run oil company — through a subsidiary — donated $500,000 to President Trump’s inauguration committee on December 22, 2016.

That equals what Pepsi (PEP), Verizon (VZ, Tech30) and Walmart (WMT) donated combined, according to Federal Election Commission records released Wednesday as deadly protests raged across Venezuela. The donation to Trump’s inauguration committee was made by Citgo Petroleum, a subsidiary of Venezuela’s state-run oil company, PDVSA.

The country’s citizens face a litany of crises — from food and medical shortages to extremely violent crime.

“It is an amazing amount of money that could have fed a lot of your population for the month,” says Russ Dallen, managing partner of Caracas Capital, an investing firm based in Miami.

Venezuela’s state-run oil giant, PDVSA, bought Citgo in the 1980s. When the late President Hugo Chavez took power in 1999, Citgo was a huge money maker for the country.

Rising acreage prices are causing Permian peers concern that the market is getting too hot. For example, Concho Resources (NYSE:CXO) recently said that it was having difficulty finding a good value in Permian land deals. That’s saying a lot for a company that completed several deals over the past year, including paying $1.625 billion for 40,000 net acres last August, or more than $40,000 per acre. However, with recent deals in the mid-$40,000s per acre, and up to as high as $58,500 per acre, buyers like Concho are growing cautious, which suggests land values might be topping out.

Large Caps. Our E&P coverage is pricing in $61/bbl WTI and $3.30 gas, and with a lower crude forecast the group is looking less compelling. We argue names that continue to demonstrate resource improvement at the low-end of the cost curve, namely in the Permian and STACK remain attractive, such as Concho Resources (CXO), Devon Energy (DVN), Newfield Exploration (NFX) and Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD). Noble (NBL) remains a compelling value, though has yet to commit to an accelerated US onshore drilling program.

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Lear also sees strong “upside potential” forConcho Resources (CXO), Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD) and Newfield Exploration (NFX) as well performance improves in the Permian/STACK, and also writes positively on Devon Energy (DVN).

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Rising acreage prices are causing Permian peers concern that the market is getting too hot. For example, Concho Resources (NYSE:CXO) recently said that it was having difficulty finding a good value in Permian land deals. That’s saying a lot for a company that completed several deals over the past year, including paying $1.625 billion for 40,000 net acres last August, or more than $40,000 per acre. However, with recent deals in the mid-$40,000s per acre, and up to as high as $58,500 per acre, buyers like Concho are growing cautious, which suggests land values might be topping out.

Top 10 Healthcare Equipment Companies To Own In Right Now

Two years ago, we pulled Fidelity Contrafund (FCNTX) from the Kiplinger 25 and replaced it with Fidelity New Millennium (FMILX). We had no qualms about Contras performance or the estimable Will Danoff, the funds manager since 1990. Our concern was with its immense asset base, $114 billion at the time. We worried that Danoff would have trouble steering the battleship through increasingly turbulent markets. New Millennium, by contrast, had $3 billion in assets, about the same as it does today.

The switch hasnt paid dividendsyet. Over the past two years through February 29, New Millennium lost a cumulative 8.4%; Contra gained 4.6%, and Standard & Poors 500-stock index returned 7.2%.

New Millenniums problem? Actually, there were three: too many energy stocks, too many small- and midsize-company stocks, and, in 2015 in particular, not enough FANGsthe acronym for Facebook, Amazon.com, Netflix and Google, now called Alphabet. These four high-tech behemoths led the market last year.

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

Another stock that’s starting to move within range of triggering a big breakout trade is Nam Tai Electronics (NTE), which is an electronics manufacturing and design services provider to a select group of the world’s leading OEMs of telecommunications and consumer electronic products. This stock has been destroyed by the sellers so far in 2013, with shares off sharply by 41%.

If you look at the chart for Nam Tai Electronics, you’ll notice that this stock has been uptrending for the last month and change, with shares moving higher from its low of $6.05 to its recent high of $8.38 a share. During that uptrend, shares of NTE have been making mostly higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That move has now pushed shares of NTE within range of triggering a big breakout trade.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in NTE if it manages to break out above some key near-term overhead resistance levels at $8.38 to $8.79 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 647,483 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then NTE will set up to re-fill some of its previous gap down zone from April that started near $11.50 a share. If this stock gets into that gap with volume, then the upside is tremendous and we could easily see NTE hit $11 to $12 a share.

Traders can look to buy NTE off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below its 50-day at $7.42 a share, or below more key support at $7.22 a share. One can also buy NTE off strength once it takes out that breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Shauna O’Brien]

Susquehanna reported on Tuesday that it has raised its rating on Broadcom Corporation (BRCM).

The firm has upgraded BRCM from “Neutral” to “Positive,” and has lifted the company’s price target from $33 to $35. This price target suggests a 23% upside from the stock’s current price of $26.91.

Analyst Chris Caso commented: “Our downgrade of BRCM in May was predicated on already high Street expectations on handsets and no notable improvement in networking to drive upside. We think expectations and the stock price have now been sufficiently reset ahead of what we expect to be catalysts in 2014 including the iPhone 6 product cycle, potential improvement in networking and the impact from the recent Renesas acquisition. In addition, after several years of overspending on their handset initiatives, we think we are now closer to the point where the company either captures a return on that investment or is forced to moderate spending either of which benefit profitability. We see the upcoming December analyst meeting as a potential intermediate catalyst.”

Broadcom shares were up 38 cents, or 1.41%, during pre-market trading Tuesday. The stock is down 19% YTD.
