Top 5 China Stocks To Buy Right Now

America’s biggest bank is taking another shot at China’s huge financial markets.

JPMorgan Chase (JPM) is seeking approval from the Chinese government to launch a new brokerage in the world’s second biggest economy, just weeks after Beijing relaxed restrictions on foreign ownership of financial companies.

This will be the second attempt by the Wall Street giant to gain a serious foothold in China. In late 2016, it pulled out of a joint venture in which it had a 33% stake.

China’s securities regulator said Thursday it had received an application from JPMorgan seeking to establish a joint venture in which the bank would hold a controlling 51% stake. It didn’t say how long the approval process would take.

China pledged last November to allow foreign companies to own Chinese banks and investment firms for the first time. It followed through on part of that promise at the end of April, announcing new rules for foreign investment in securities firms and fund managers.

Should that not be enough to keep investors away from this merger, I’m also dumbfounded that Aurora would pay $2.5 billion for MedReleaf when it could get almost 100,000 kilograms more in annual capacity for a presumably similar buyout price by going after Aphria (NASDAQOTH:APHQF). Keep in mind that this is merely hypothetical, and I’m not suggesting that Aurora should be buying any company with its need to finance everything with share issuances, but Aphria would appear to offer far more bang for the buck than MedReleaf.

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

Yesterday we wrote that we saw rampant red flags with Aphrias (OTCQB:APHQF) proposed Nuuvera (OTC:NUUVF) transaction. In particular, the transaction seemed to make little economic or strategic sense, and we had found it worrying that a self-described Aphria advisor named Andy DeFrancesco seemed to have business dealings with both sides of the deal.

Well, we called in Bruce Kamich, our resident Chart Professor, to help you learn that and more.

Because when it comes to investing in stocks, it is important that you are able to perform your own  technical analysis of some stock charts.

Technical analysis sounds wonky but it’s basically financial analysis that uses patterns to identify trends and make educated predictions. And that’s exactly what the Chart Professor does with his charts every day.

He walked us through four basic charts:

Line — The simplest chart because it only requires one piece of data: the stock’s last price.  So it’s basically like connect the dots but leaves out important info all-time highs, etc…. Bar — Three prices are included here: the stock’s high price, low price and its closing price of the day or week are all included in each of the individual bars line that make up this chart. Candlestick — Four prices included here: the open, the high the low and the close all make up the little rectangle shape on this chart.  relation to the open and the close — if we close below the opening — bearish and the   .  If we close above the open price, bullish  ed or pink is bearish white is bullish —  Point and Figure — The oldest chart in U.S., it dates back to 1880’s and  And a mark only is made on this chart when the stock moves a predetermined price.  In the chart in this video, each X represents a 10 points move up. A 0 notes a reaction to the move.

And then talked about the three things you need to do with each of those charts:

Alaska Air (NYSE:ALK) has experienced severe margin compression over the past several quarters, due to a combination of rising fuel costs, stiff competition, and merger pains following its 2016 acquisition of Virgin America. However, management is laser-focused on rebuilding the company’s profitability. Toward that end, Alaska Airlines is set to reduce its growth rate until it starts hitting its margin and return on invested capital goals.

Alphabet Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOGL) leads another busy day of earnings reports on Monday. Wall Street anticipates that the online media giant will report earnings per share (EPS) of $9.21 on top of $24.29 billion in revenue.
Hasbro Inc. (NYSE: HAS) slumped more than 7.6% in pre-market hours after the company reported earnings. The toymaker reported adjusted EPS of $0.10, well short of the $0.33 expected on Wall Street. The firm also reported weaker-than-expected revenue for the quarter. Top 5 Low Price Stocks To Invest In Right Now: ENERGY TRANSFER PARTNERS(ETP)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Energy Transfer Equity and its MLP Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE:ETP) have a long history of making acquisitions to expand their energy infrastructure empire. In fact, Energy Transfer Equity already has its sights set on its next target: NuStar GP Holdings (NYSE:NSH), which controls MLPNuStar Energy (NYSE:NS). That interest led an analyst on the call to ask if the company could provide any more details.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE:ETP) is among the highest yielding companies in the MLP space at nearly 13%. That’s mainly due to the market’s fears that the company’s distribution isn’t sustainable because of its weaker financial metrics. While those numbers have improved in recent quarters, they still have a way to go.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

While ONEOK is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in the country, one thing others have that it lacks is an export terminal. An analyst on the call pointed this out and asked how aggressively the company was pursuing exports given that rivals Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE:EPD) and Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE:ETP) recently signed joint ventures (JVs) to build new export terminals. In Enterprise’s case, it signed a JV to construct an ethylene export facility to move the key petrochemical to market centers. Meanwhile, Energy Transfer secured a JV to build an ethane export facility. Both projects should start up in 2020 and supply thesecompanies with steady cash flow for years via long-term, fee-based contracts.

    Plenty Of Upside
After the scale of the tax threat (or lack thereof) was made clear, buyers began to cautiously tiptoe back in. But there is still more upside in this sector than I have seen in the past few years. Take MMP, which is trading around $60 per share. Analysts have a consensus price target of $77 which would imply appreciation of more than 28%. Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE: ETP) is looking at upside of more than 50%.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

After facing several challenges over the past few years, Energy Transfer Partners(NYSE:ETP) has turned things around, which was evident in its first-quarter results. Earnings and cash flow jumped thanks to recent project completions, while a string of asset sales and other strategic financing initiatives have helped bolster its balance sheet and ability to fund additional growth projects. While the company still has some work to do before all its issues are in the rearview mirror, it’s certainly heading in the right direction.

  • [By ]

That, by itself, doesn’t mean their dividends are on solid ground. However, Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE: ETP) deserves a closer look. Like many master limited partnerships (MLPs), it has pulled back over the past week because of a new ruling from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which regulates tariffs on interstate pipelines.

Top 5 Undervalued Stocks To Watch For 2019

Last week, I wrote an article detailing how Crescent Point Energy Corporation (CPG) not only has perhaps the most economic collection of assets in Canada on a profit-investment ratio basis but is also the most undervalued in its peer group on a 2018 EV/DACF basis. However, in order for undervaluation to be resolved, investors need to care. After two dividend cuts and a poorly communicated large equity financing (immediately after a new commitment to organic growth), Crescent Point has soured relations with both institutional and retail investors.

The company, however, has multiple upside catalysts that could serve to restore investor interest in the stock and remedy its chronic undervaluation. These catalysts should play out over the next 12 months, and the upside for Crescent Point is substantial given where it is trading relative to its peers and its own historical valuation:

Top 5 Undervalued Stocks To Watch For 2019: athenahealth, Inc.(ATHN)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Athenahealth (ATHN) last night announced that its CFO and administrative chief, Kristi Matus, would be leaving the company. Her departure has not been embraced by investors, who have pushed shares lower today. Leerink’s David Larsen understands their concerns:

In our view, the CFO departure may be indicative of internal operational challenges. We still think it is possible that Kristi Matus is seeking an environment that is not as demanding as ATHN, though this has not been confirmed by management. Management harped on the point that bifurcation is part of the strategic initiative of ATHN to reenergize the culture of the company, and Jonathan Bush noted how he himself hopes to spend more time on talent and culture and less time on entering new markets and building new products.

We continue to believe that ATHN is facing challenges. We continue to believe the market is fundamentally slowing and bookings growth may become more lumpy as we progress through 2016. We still believe there will be a slow-down in the bookings growth rate b/c of a possible slow-down in the ambulatory EMR market and the fact that we are in the final payment year of Meaningful Use. Much of the call focused on Kristi Matus’s departure as a major loss for the company of a leader who was “masterful with investors.” According to management, the decision to split the CFO and CFAO responsibilities was not a reflection of her ability.

Baird’s Matthew Gillmor and Sean McBride are less worried:

The unexpected resignation of CFO Kristi Matus is disappointing, but the reasons for her departure seem somewhat understandable, in our view (potentially viewed bifurcation of CFO/CAO role as a demotion). We think incoming CFO Karl Stubelis is very strong and should provide helpful continuity, both internally and externally (currently serves as Controller and previously as acting CFO). Finally, the CFO change does not change our positive long-term thesi

Meanwhile, earnings season continued to play out, and although the technology industry saw some extremely encouraging reports, not all stocks participated in the rally. Athenahealth (NASDAQ:ATHN), Synchrony Financial (NYSE:SYF), and Time (NYSE:TIME) were among the worst performers on the day. Below, we’ll look more closely at these stocks to tell you why they did so poorly.

Top 5 Undervalued Stocks To Watch For 2019: Visa Inc.(V)

Advisors’ Opinion:

This one could be the easiest of advances, both because credit losses are down big and because its credit-card brethren — Capital One Financial, Discover, Visa (V) and MasterCard (MA) — have all had significant rallies. I actually regard this stock as inexpensive and think it can be bought here now that it has fully absorbed the loss of the Costco (COST) business to Visa and Citigroup (C) .

Visa Inc. (NYSE: V) stock has gained 2.61% so far in 2018, even after dropping slightly more than six points last week. Rising interest rates have provided a boost for most financial sector stocks, especially combined with low unemployment rates. Credit card debt topped $1 trillion for the first time ever last year. For the past 12 months, Visa shares have risen by nearly 32%.

Top 5 Undervalued Stocks To Watch For 2019: Ultra Petroleum Corp.(UPL)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Our peer group is up an average of 46% over the past 4 weeks in response to a 30% rebound in the 12-month strip NYMEX oil price. Some of the largest gainers include Hold and Sell rated stocks that we would not chase such asDenbury Resources (Sell, +138%), Halcon Resources (HK) (Sell, +147%), Jones Energy (JONE) (Hold, +166%), Rex Energy (REXX) (Sell, +60%), Sanchez Energy (SN) (Hold, +93%), Ultra Petroleum (UPL) (Sell, +61%), andWhiting Petroleum (Hold, +103%), which have outperformed the E&P Index (+32%) over the same time period. Balance sheets and/or well level returns remain challenged for these companies despite improved oil prices. While we believe oil markets should re-balance over the next 12 to 15 months, the recent recovery to $40 could reverse during 2Q16 as bloated inventories continue to rise, new volumes from Iran pressure an oversupplied market, and a highly anticipated decline in non-OPEC supply (especially in the U.S.), is not as steep as expected. The risk of an oil price retracement, which would significantly pressure the recent out-performers, outweighs the upside in these stocks, in our view. However, we are raising our target prices on Buy ratedAnadarko Petroleum ($54 from $48), Concho Resources (CXO) ($120 from $109), Matador Resources (MTDR) ($22 from $21),Noble Energy (NBL) ($40 from $34), SM Energy (SM) ($22 from $15), Rice Energy ($14 from $12), Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD) ($155 from $135),Continental Resources ($32 from $28), and Parsley Energy (PE) ($24 from $23). We believe our Buy-rated stocks are better positioned to weather challenging oil markets.

  • [By STOCKPICKR]

As energy commodity prices have sold off in recent months, so too have the E&P stocks that pull those resources out of the ground. And Ultra Petroleum (UPL) has been no exception. The good news is that you don’t need to be an expert technical trader to figure out why this stock looks toxic here — the setup in shares of Ultra Petroleum is about as simple as they get.

UPL is bouncing its way lower in a textbook downtrending channel, a price setup that’s formed by a pair of parallel trendlines that have kept UPL range-bound since April. The price channel in UPL identifies the high-probability range for shares to stay within, and so, with shares pressing up against resistance for the eighth time since this price channel kicked off, it makes sense to be a seller on the next bounce lower.

Top 5 Undervalued Stocks To Watch For 2019: URS Corporation(URS)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ian Wyatt, Publisher & Chief Investment Strategist, Wyatt Investment Research]

Fund manager John Mirshekari, of the Fidelity Low-Priced Stock Fund, recommended shares of URS (URS), an engineering and construction contractor.

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Fidelty’s John Mirshekaritook a look at URS(URS) today at the Value Investing Congress. His takeaway: The stock could double in two years.

    Agence France-Presse/Getty Images

His analysis started with URS’s use of its free cash. During the past, it hasn’t been pretty. They spent 6.3 billion on eight acquisitions, they’ve bought companies at valuations higher than own stock and return-on-equity has dropped from high teens to just 6%.

The problem hasn’t been its business: Its return on tangible capital is 17%. Instead, the problem is that its management hasn’t maximized value through capital allocation. URS has lowest valuation: 9x 2013 cash earnings in its industry.

Part of the problem: Management incentives are based on net income. This year, however, relative total shareholder return was added., something Mirshekari calls”a step in the right direction.” In May, URS filed an amended proxy which says it will look to change incentives from net income to return on equity and earnings per share. More importantly, it said acquisitions would end.

If all goes right, URS could double in two years,Mirshekari says, comparing it to AECOM Technology (ACM).

Looks a lot like AECOMM, which did something similar and rallied.
