Top 5 Performing Stocks To Buy Right Now

Money managers at one of the best performing emerging-market funds are betting big on Chinese internet stocks as they forecast another year of outperformance for developing-nation equities.

The $2.6 billion Trilogy Global Advisors Emerging Wealth Fund had almost 10 percent of its assets in just two stocks at the end of last year — Baidu Inc., China’s biggest search-engine provider, and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., an e-commerce titan. Co-managers Tom Masi and Nuno Fernandes say the companies are poised to enter new business arenas that will boost revenue with relatively low costs to acquire new customers.

On a broader basis, they’re expecting developing-nation equities to outperform their developed peers for the third consecutive year in 2018, betting that faster earnings growth will continue to support valuations. Their strategies helped generate the best return last year among 653 actively-managed emerging-market funds with at least $500 million in assets, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

The stock market is a market of individual stocks, though, and even with major benchmarks having stalled, some companies are enjoying unparalleled success. In particular, TransEnterix (NYSEMKT:TRXC), BeiGene (NASDAQ:BGNE), and Legacy Resources LP (NASDAQ:LGCY) have all quadrupled in price in just a single year, and investors who are just finding out about them want to know if there are further gains in their futures. There aren’t any sure things in investing, but the prospects that all three of these companies have could fuel additional advances if things go right for them.

Shares of Intrexon Corporation (NYSE:XON) slipped as much as 12.9% on Friday morning and were down 7.9% as of 11:40 a.m. EDT due to a surprise delay in reporting its second-quarter financial results. In March, Wheaton lifted investors’ hopes when it reported production of 28.6 million ounces and 355,104 ounces for silver and gold, respectively, for fiscal 2017, topping its guidance of 28 million silver ounces and 340,000 gold ounces. In May again, Wheaton reported a 11.7% year-over-year jump in silver production for its first quarter, thanks to higher production from First Majestic Silver’s (NYSE:AG) San Dimas mine.

  • [By Neha Chamaria]

Shares of First Majestic Silver (NYSE:AG) slumped 15.9% last month, according to data provided by S&P Global Market Intelligence. The stock had a heady run-up between February and June before it reversed course. By far, August turned out to be its worst month so far this year.

  • [By Neha Chamaria]

To be fair, the reason behind Wheaton’s decelerating production isn’t what you probably think. Wheaton had an agreement with Primero Mining on its San Dimas mine. After Primero was recently bought out by First Majestic Silver (NYSE:AG), the deal ceased to exist. Because San Dimas was an important mine, Wheaton will lose almost 10% production as a result.

The cryptocurrency cooled further on Thursday, with most major cryptocurrencies trading down less than 1 percent on the day. Here’s a look at some of the headlines that were moving the cryptocurrency market today — and which currencies were on the move.

Headlines

The Colorado Sun and media company Civil are launching an ad-free publication owned by reporters that uses blockchain technology to assess content, reward quality reporting and grade journalists on their work. The idea is an experiment in reducing the potential influence of advertising on journalism, and Civil plans to launch its own cryptocurrency as part of the project. Several former Denver Post reporters have already joined the Colorado Sun, which launched its first Sunriser newsletter on Wednesday afternoon.

The House Committee on Ethics has said U.S. lawmakers will now have to disclose personal cryptocurrency investments that exceed $1,000. The Ethics Committee also strongly urged any lawmaker considering participating in an ICO of any kind to notify the House before doing so as Congress seeks to ensure objectivity in cryptocurrency regulation.

Litecoin founder Charlie Lee told CNBC that the string of global cryptocurrency exchange security breaches that have resulted in the theft of more than $1.1 billion in investments so far this year don't reflect vulnerabilities in the cryptocurrencies themselves. Lee argued that a bank robbery doesn’t impact the price of gold and said the burden of token security ultimately falls on the investors themselves.

Best Gold Stocks To Invest In Right Now: First Majestic Silver Corp.(AG)

Shares of First Majestic Silver (NYSE:AG) sank by double digits on Monday after the silver miner announced second-quarter and first-half 2018 earnings results. Although the company churned out record silver equivalent production and reported a 27% increase in revenue from the first quarter, high operating costs continue to sabotage progress. As a result, the business reported an operating loss in the second quarter of 2018.

The stock market lost ground on Monday, although the declines in some major benchmarks were more extreme than others. A budding financial crisis in Turkey once again captured the attention of investors, as the threat of rising tariffs and escalating diplomatic tension could drive a wedge through the North Atlantic Treaty Organization at a critical time for the geopolitical environment in the region. The repercussions of recent events involving Turkey echoed around the world, and some companies felt the tremors more sharply than others. First Majestic Silver (NYSE:AG), Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri (NYSE:TKC), and Transocean (NYSE:RIG) were among the worst performers on the day. Here’s why they did so poorly.

Best Gold Stocks To Invest In Right Now: ConocoPhillips(COP)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By ]

Lang looked at a daily chart of Anadarko (APC) and Conoco Phillips (COP) , noting that Anadarko has been making higher highs and lows on strong volume, with a bullish MACD momentum indicator. Conoco has made a “W” shaped bottom with a bullish Chaikin money flow, signaling institutional buying. Lang and Cramer were fans of both names.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Several other oil and gas companies are beginning to ramp up their investments in the Montney. U.S. oil giant ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP), for example, spent $120 million earlier this year to lease another 35,000 acres in the region. That boosted ConocoPhillips’ position up to 140,000 acres that it can develop in the future. As companies like ConocoPhillips drill more wells in the Montney, it should open the door for Brookfield to expand its system in the region, which should grow its cash flows.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

U.S. oil giant ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) used $50 oil as a rough baseline for its 2019 capital plans as well. ConocoPhillips currently expects to invest $6.1 billion on capital projects this year — enough money to grow production per share by 8% — which it can fund on the cash flows produced at $40 oil. Add in a dividend that the company increased twice last year to a $3 billion repurchase program and ConocoPhillips is on track to return 50% of the cash it produces at $50 oil to investors this year, though some of that money will come from its cash-rich balance sheet. However, with oil in the mid-$50s, ConocoPhillips is on track to produce more cash than expected this year, which could lead it to buy back even more stock than planned as it works to whittle down a cash balance that stood at $6.4 billion at the end of 2018.

  • [By Chris Lange]

The number of ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) shares short fell to 11.83 million from the previous 12.60 million. Shares were trading at $71.30, within a 52-week range of $45.65 to $74.73.

  • [By John Bromels]

Three years ago, if you asked me to compare the prospects of an integrated oil major like BP (NYSE:BP) to an independent oil and gas exploration and production company (E&P) like ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP), I’d have told you the oil major would win hands down. The price of oil had collapsed, and independent drillers were stuck up the proverbial creek without a paddle.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) has worked hard to distinguish itself from other oil companies over the past few years by shifting its focus from growing production to increasing shareholder value. That led it on a path to shed high-cost assets so that it could slim down to a company that could thrive at lower oil prices.

Glu Mobile (NASDAQ:GLUU) stock has more than doubled over the past year, getting a recent boost from an impressive first-quarter report that revealed all-round improvements in the company’s business. This is a massive turnaround for Glu as Wall Street wasn’t convinced about Glu’s ability to grow profitably at this point last year, when its losses were mounting, but it now seems to have put those speculations to rest quite emphatically.

Next, you might be wondering what exactly would be considered “cheap” if analyzing cash flow per share. Though it’s going to be up to interpretation, after many years of tracking precious-metal stocks, I’m of the belief that a mining stock valued at 10 times its annual CFPS is considered fairly valued, with a slightly higher multiple for precious-metal royalty and streaming companies. With this in mind, here’s why SSR Mining (NASDAQ:SSRM) and First Majestic Silver (NYSE:AG) are currently the top two holdings in my portfolio.

Top 10 Safest Stocks To Invest In 2018

I’m in my early 60s and have about $400,000 in savings. I tend to stick to bank money-market accounts and CDs, as I was scammed in the past. What’s the safest way for me to invest this money?–Maria

Your urge to play it safe is perfectly understandable. You already know from bitter experience that there are people out there who prey on inexperienced (or even experienced) investors by conning them outright or putting them into investments that may be inappropriate for their situation, and expensive to boot.

Such conduct aside, the financial markets in and of themselves can be scary, even when you’re limiting yourself to perfectly legitimate investments. Even though the stock market’s been going gangbusters since rebounding from the financial crisis some eight and a half years ago and has been hitting new records of late, at some point stock prices will tumble big time, as they have many times in the past.

Bonds aren’t as volatile as stocks, but they too are somewhat vulnerable in that bond prices go down when interest rates go up (although as with stock setbacks, no one knows for sure when or how much bond yields will rise).

That funding progress is important given an unexpected development in the quarter when the Federal Regulatory Commission (FERC) revised a long-standing policy and will no longer allow master limited partnerships to collect an allowance for income taxes on certain pipelines. That change could have a major impact on the cash flows of TransCanada’s MLP TC Pipelines, LP (NYSE:TCP). While TC Pipelines isn’t sure how much this change will impact its cash flow, it took precautionary actions by slashing its distribution to investors. That payout reduction and the related uncertainty has weighed significantly on TC Pipelines’ valuation. Because of that, Girling said that “further dropdowns of assets by TransCanada into TC Pipelines is not considered a viable funding option at this time,” and he isn’t sure if it will be one in the future. However, he did clarify that even without future dropdowns to TC Pipelines, TransCanada believes it has the “financial capacity to fund our existing capital program through our predictable and growing cash flow from operations as well as several other funding alternatives.”

Top 5 Heal Care Stocks For 2018

Millennials — love them or hate them, they are the crux of the workforce. Since the spring of 2015, those who are aged roughly 20 to 36 years have become the largest working demographic. Millennials are no longer the future of our society. The eldest of the group are the front face of our nation. Yet when it comes to investing, too many are suggesting stock picks that are awful for this generation.

Do an internet search for “stock picks for millennials.” Time and again, you will come across the same old names. A popular suggestion are the so-called “FANGs” — Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX), and Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG, NASDAQ:GOOGL). Wow, how original! Others will suggest stalwarts like Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM).

Top 10 Low Price Stocks To Buy Right Now

EMM & QNX will be the growth drivers going forward. But the risks in BlackBerry stock continue to remain elevated.

BlackBerry(NSDQ:BBRY)stock is a very volatile stock. When the company announced its latest set of earnings on the 20th of December, the share price rose to around $8 a share, but since then has plummeted back down to the $7 level. Blackberry is unique in that it is a low priced stock but is just as liquid as many of its peers. This combined with the volatility of the tech sector attracts all types of investors and traders as volatility is a guarantee (which we have obviously seen over the past week or so).

BlackBerry’s latest fiscal third quarter was definitely a mixed bag. On one hand, you had aggressive margin expansion and a surprising profitable quarter on a non-GAAP basis, but on the other hand, top line came in $20 million short of what was expected. A return to revenue growth is expected next year with enterprise software & QNX probably leading the way. Blackberryand its investors know that if this company can comprehensively combine these areas as well as its security wing to work cohesively in the emerging Internet Of Things market (IoT), then this company will have a strategic competitive advantage. Blackberry’s pivot from hardware to software may have been well timed but I would still recommend caution. Here are three reasons to back up my case.

Top 5 Warren Buffett Stocks To Watch Right Now

Huge public companies still prospered this past year despite wild swings between market uncertainty and volatility, punctuated by unexpected political outcomes.

The 2017 Global 2000 is bigger and more valuable in the aggregate than last year’s list, with higher sales, profits, assets and market values. The list as a whole is significantly more valuable from the year prior, with aggregate market capitalization up 10%. Here’s how we crunched the numbers.

Despite slowing GDP figures, China and the U.S., whose companies make up more than 40% of the list, continue to dominate the top 10 list with financial giants including #1 Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and #4 JPMorgan Chase. China’s two-year stronghold of the top 3 spots was disrupted this year with Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway snagging the third spot, another signal that U.S. companies didn’t suffer terribly from market uncertainty that defined the year, as Berkshire owns many other American staple stocks.

TD Ameritrade Holding Corp. Well, we love finding new ways to use emerging technology. So we decided to have a little fun and plant our flag,” TD wrote on its website, where it included a photo of the ad embedded right into the blockchain code. The process took 68 transactions and TD used the OP_Return feature in bitcoin’s protocol to insert characters as one might write a memo on a check. The resulting transactions were invalid, but they remain preserved on the blockchain ledger for as long as it exists.

Top 5 Performing Stocks For 2018

A difficult year for 3M shareholders will not get better anytime soon, according to Jefferies.

The firm lowered its rating for the industrial company’s shares to hold from buy, predicting its valuation will decline in the latter part of the economic cycle.

“We see less room for multiple expansion in a rising rate environment, and once recession risk moves to dominate the investor debate the forward P/E multiple likely compresses,” analyst Laurence Alexander said in a note to clients Wednesday. “The risk/reward looks increasingly challenging at this point.”

3M shares are underperforming the market this year. Its shares declined 14 percent year to date through Tuesday compared with the S&P 500’s 1 percent return.

The company’s stock is down 1.2 percent Wednesday after the report.

Top 5 Performing Stocks For 2018: National Beverage Corp.(FIZZ)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jeremy Bowman]

The company appears to have solved that problem by remaking itself as a sparkling water brand. Not only does that make the product more attractive from a pricing perspective as it’s competing with more expensive bottled waters, but the company is now benefiting from tailwinds in consumer trends as more consumers are drinking bottled and sparkling water in part because of its perceived health benefits compared to soda.Shares ofNational Beverage(NASDAQ:FIZZ) have soared recently on the strength of LaCroix, the flavored sparkling water brand that has developed a following among millennials. In the U.S., sparkling water sales were expected to grow by more than a third last year and from 2011 to 2017 sales of the fizzy water.

At the same time, management is using all of its additional cash to do some wheeling and dealing that should help boost its growth possibilities in the nearer term.
