Top Safest Stocks To Watch Right Now

Many investors rely on their investment portfolios to generate the income they need to make ends meet. For them, dividend stocks are a natural choice, because they offer regular payments of dividend income, as well as the chance to enjoy share-price gains when the company’s underlying business is successful. Especially for those who are retired and living on fixed incomes, the ability to benefit from a combination of stock appreciation and reliable income is huge, and many top dividend stocks also have good track records of boosting their payouts on a regular basis as well, adding to their attractiveness.

Most dividend stocks have one drawback for income investors, though: They tend to make their dividend payments only on a quarterly basis. That’s fine for the company, but it doesn’t always work out well for shareholders who have monthly income needs. A few dividend stocks, however, have figured out that meeting their investors’ needs can be a smart move, and they’ve therefore chosen to make monthly dividend payments. Although income investors naturally prefer the highest dividend yields they can find, the highest-yielding monthly dividend stocks aren’t necessarily the ones with the safest dividends. Shareholders have to seek out top dividend stocks not based solely on yield but also on other features, such as whether they offer dividend reinvestment plans. Later in this article, we’ll reveal five top monthly dividend stocks, but first, let’s take a closer look at why monthly dividends are attractive and what you have to do to avoid potential mistakes in choosing stocks.

There’s an interesting dichotomy here, however. Crestwood was looking to stay financially disciplined, but it also needed to invest to grow. Doing both at the same time is difficult, which is why it partnered up with Con Ed in the Marcellus region, Shell Midstream Partners LP (NYSE:SHLX) and First Reserve in the Delaware Basin, and Williams Partners (NYSE:WPZ) in the Powder River basin. These agreements allow Crestwood to keep expanding its business without having to foot the entire bill for the investments.

Many of the best dividend growth stocks give their investors a raise each year. However, some companies take that to another level by handing their investors more money every single quarter. Three companies with a history of putting more money into their investors’ pockets every three months are Shell Midstream Partners (NYSE:SHLX), Western Gas Partners (NYSE:WES), and Valero Energy Partners (NYSE:VLP).

First Solar fell yesterday because investors werent happy with its fourth quarter, and it got at least one downgrade. However a number of solar stocks were up today; peers SunPower (SPWR), Real Goods Solar (RGSE), JA Solar Holdings (JASO), ReneSola (SOL), Vivnt Solar (VSLR), and JinkoSolar (JKS) were all higher this morning.

Williams Capital Groups Cynthia Motz was one remaining First Solar bull that put out a note on the quarter today:

While we still believe that, with its balance sheet and technology that FSLR is an industry leader, and are maintaining our Buy and price target of $37, we also point out that is still a great deal of uncertainty for the solar industry in 2017, something which FSLR (and others) stress considerably more in their SEC filings than in their press releases and conference calls.

Excluding the company’s stake in Kraft Heinz Co. (NYSE: KHC), its top five holdings at the end of last year were as follows:

American Express Co. (NYSE: AXP): a 17.6% stake valued at $15 billion with a cost basis of $1.3 billion Phillips 66 Co. (NYSE: PSX): a 14.9% stake valued at $7.5 billion and a cost basis of $5.8 billion Moody’s Corp. (NYSE: MCO): a 12.9% stake valued at $3.6 billion with a cost basis of $248 million Wells Fargo & Co. The following are a few of Buffett’s comments from the letter.

  • [By Motley Fool Staff]

As far as positive surprises go, Wells Fargo(NYSE:WFC) was probably the biggest positive surprise. I probably don’t have to tell most listeners, Wells Fargo hasn’t had the best couple of years, when it comes to their fake accounts scandal, the fallout from that, the other mini scandals along the way, and just recently, their punishment by the same Federal Reserve that says they’re not allowed to grow until they improve. They actually got the approval to buy back more than twice the amount of stock that they did last year. One, that says a lot about how well-capitalized they are. Two, it also says a lot that their management’s willing to do that, that they think that their stock is at such a compelling bargain right now that they’re willing to spend over $25 billion on buybacks alone.

  • [By Paul Ausick]

Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE: WFC) dropped out of the top 10 to end the year in 11th place, and Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) ranked 13th, as it did in 2016.

  • [By Ethan Ryder]

Shares of Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) have received a consensus rating of “Hold” from the twenty-nine research firms that are currently covering the firm, Marketbeat.com reports. Six investment analysts have rated the stock with a sell recommendation, seven have given a hold recommendation and sixteen have given a buy recommendation to the company. The average 12 month target price among brokers that have issued ratings on the stock in the last year is $61.86.

When long-time, sometimes controversial bank analyst Mike Mayo speaks it’s often wise for investors to listen. Recently plucked up by Wells Fargo (WFC)  to cover the banking space, Mayo is fresh off a meeting with top Goldman Sachs (GS)  management, including CEO Lloyd Blankfein. Mayo’s mention of a possible “revenue breakout” in a new note dropped in our email box Tuesday is attention-grabbing (if not a reason to trade Action Alerts PLUS holding Goldman).

Trump is widely expected to stop waiving sanctions on Iran’s energy and banking sector that were lifted as part of the 2015 agreement in exchange for curbs on Tehran’s nuclear program. US allies have urged Trump to stick with the deal.

Trump’s decision could have a major impact on energy markets. Oil prices have surged nearly 13% over the past month to their highest level since 2014 on fears of supply disruptions.

Top 5 Clean Energy Stocks To Buy For 2018

Clean energy stocks are still the best energy stocks to own right now, despite President Donald Trump pulling the United States out of the Paris Climate Accord. In fact, renewable energy production will see over 100% growth by 2025.

To help investors find the right renewable energy stocks, we’re giving Money Morning readers our top clean energy stock pick today…

Money Morning Global Energy Strategist Dr. Kent Moors says the United States might be pulling out of the climate agreement, but that won’t stop renewable energy from being crucial to meeting the global demand for energy.

Moors says the climate agreement was non-binding and voluntary, so the United States’ decision to leave it won’t change much. A more significant development is President Trump’s attempt to end the “Clean Power Plan,” an Obama-era initiative to promote clean energy, because it’s currently America’s policy instead of a non-binding agreement.

Best Warren Buffett Stocks To Invest In 2019

In his annual shareholder letter, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon pointed to data showing a radically shrinking U.S. stock market, echoing an increasingly common refrain on Wall Street and in corporate America. Dimon is working alongside business luminaries such as Warren Buffett, BlackRock’s Larry Fink and GM CEO Mary Barra to promote long-term stock market investment and regulations that will make it easier and more rewarding for companies to sell their shares on public markets.

On Wednesday morning, the U.S. markets lost another stock when European consumer products conglomerate JAB Holding agreed to buy Panera Bread for $7.5 billion, ending the popular soup, sandwich and salad chain’s stellar over-quarter century run on public markets. There are many causes of the shrinking stock market, for instance the administrative costs of being publicly traded and strict regulations surrounding investor communications, but JAB’s emergence and its deal for Panera Bread points to the biggest culprit.
