What’s the Catch With WebXU Inc? According to various disclosures, transactions of $5k, $7.5k and $8k have or will occur to mention WebXU Inc in various investment newsletters. Last Thursday, WebXU Inc announced that it intends to offer financial services to the medical marijuana and hemp industries through anticipated strategic partnerships that will connect its clients in these industries with nationwide small business lending, banking, credit card processing and financial management consulting. Earlier in the month, WebXU Inc announced that it had signed its first e-commerce project with the Hemp Inc (OTCMKTS: HEMP) eco-friendly brand Cartel Blue, a natural fibre clothing line; while back in February, Hemp Inc announced a lucrative consulting agreement with WebXU Inc who will receive professional, ongoing, consulting services in the Industrial hemp and medical marijuana Industries (specifically in the areas of online web development and advertising initiat ives for its business and partnerships in the industry). Under the agreement, WebXU Inc will pay an initial professional consulting fee of 8,000,000 shares of their common stock and then for each renewable term of the Agreement (a total of 3 years), an additional 2,640,000 common shares on a quarterly basis. This agreement equates to $312,000.00 down and $1,235,520.00, over the course of 3 years, for a total of $1,547,520.00 in profit for Hemp, Inc. Of course, the WebXU Inc press release about the deal did not mention those terms. Moreover, its hard to put some context on the deal as the latest financials I am seeing for WebXU Inc date from the end of 2012 – meaning its investor beware until WebXU Inc posts some updated financials.

It’s important to understand that hemp and marijuana are two different things. Oh, there’s certainly a relationship, and the boundary between the two can get fuzzy at times [broadly speaking, whenever hemp is in focus for industrial/non-high uses, medical and recreational marijuana doesn’t seem to be too far away]. But, hemp is its own category, and its hemp’s industrial applications that Hemp, Inc. (OTCMKTS:HEMP) is working to develop and capitalize on.

When judging a company’s prospects, how quickly it turns cash outflows into cash inflows can be just as important as how much profit it’s booking in the accounting fantasy world we call “earnings.” This is one of the first metrics I check when I’m hunting for the market’s best stocks. Today, we’ll see how it applies to Rudolph Technologies (Nasdaq: RTEC ) .
- [By Seth Jayson]
In this series, I examine inventory using a simple rule of thumb: Inventory increases ought to roughly parallel revenue increases. If inventory bloats more quickly than sales grow, this might be a sign that expected sales haven’t materialized. Is the current inventory situation at Rudolph Technologies (Nasdaq: RTEC ) out of line? To figure that out, start by comparing the company’s inventory growth to sales growth. How is Rudolph Technologies doing by this quick checkup? At first glance, not so great. Trailing-12-month revenue increased 17.6%, and inventory increased 32.2%. Comparing the latest quarter to the prior-year quarter, the story looks potentially problematic. Revenue dropped 8.9%, and inventory grew 32.2%. Over the sequential quarterly period, the trend looks worrisome. Revenue dropped 23.3%, and inventory grew 10.8%.

Orbotech (ORBK) and Rudolph Technologies (RTEC) Sizable Net-Nets in the AOI Sector
As noted previously, I rode the elevator up and then back down on Camtek (CAMT), a tiny Israeli automated optical inspection (AOI) company. By late 2008 the company had fallen to below $1 per share. Both of Camtek’s larger rivals, RTEC and ORBK, had dropped to absurdly low levels by November 2008. I used the opportunity to switch out of CAMT and some of my other losing propositions in favor of these superior companies. In the process, I created a large amount of tax loss carry-forwards which would allow me to minimize my future taxation when I decided to sell these cyclical entities.

While GE has seen some organic growth in this line of business, acquisitions have been its key driver. Between 2010 and 2013, GE has spent over $11 billion on acquisitions linked to this industrial segment. The most notable of these was the deal to acquire Lufkin (LUFK) in 2013, for which the company paid a premium of 40%. By acquiring Lufkin, GE was able to acquire a specialized equipment provider for oil and gas wells, specifically those involved with artificial lift technology.

Richard Drew/APA board overlooking the floor of the New York Stock Exchange shows an intraday number above 1,600 for the S&P 500 on Friday. A big gain in the job market lifted the stock market to a record high. NEW YORK — The Dow and S&P 500 advanced to all-time closing highs on Friday, with major indexes jumping 1 percent after an unexpectedly strong April jobs report eased concerns about an economic slowdown. The S&P closed above 1,600 and the Dow briefly traded above 15,000 for the first time as stocks extended this year’s rally. Bellwether companies, including Chevron Corp. (CVX), Boeing Co. (BA) and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), reached 52-week highs. The Russell 2000 stock index of mid- and small cap companies also hit a record, confirming the broadness of the rally. About 70 percent of stocks on both the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq ended in positive territory. Non-farm payrolls rose by 165,000 last month and the unemployment rate fell to 7.5 percent, a four-year low, from 7.6 percent, the government said. In addition, hiring was much stronger than previously thought in February and March. Investors welcomed the gains after weeks of disappointing data, including tepid manufacturing reports, that suggested the economic recovery was losing steam. “We were all wringing our hands over the past month but this alleviates fears about a sharp spring slowdown,” said Brad Sorensen, director of market and sector analysis at Charles Schwab in Denver. The Dow Jones industrial average (^DJI) was up 140.61 points, or 0.95 percent, at 14,972.19. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index (^GSPC) was up 16.63 points, or 1.04 percent, at 1,614.22. The Nasdaq Composite Index (COMPX) was up 38.01 points, or 1.14 percent, at 3,378.63. Both the Dow and S&P ended at all-time closing highs. For the week, the Dow rose 1.8, the S&P gained 2 percent and the Nasdaq rose 3 percent in its biggest weekly climb since the first week of the year. Sectors ti
