Hot Low Price Companies To Own For 2014

From the time fire was first discovered until now, energy has played a critical role in the development of modern man. As our society developed, we have required an increasingly large amount of energy. We rely on companies in the Energy Sector to supply our needs.

The Energy Sector includes businesses engaged in the production and sale of energy products. This includes extraction, manufacturing, refining and distribution. As the world’s population increases and third-world countries continue to develop, there will be more intense demand on our finite supply of energy.

We have seen this imbalance manifest itself in the form of higher gasoline and diesel prices, which has resulted in upward price pressure on products or raw materials that have to be transported – which is nearly all of them.

This sector will only become more valuable as time passes and resources become more scarce.

This week, I screened my dividend growth stocks database for energy companies with a yield at or above 3% and have increased their dividends for at least 10 consecutive years. The results are presented below:

The marijuana field keeps sprouting small cap marijuana stocks like Primco Management Inc (OTCBB: PMCM), Medifirst Solutions Inc (OTCMKTS: MFST) and Modern Mobility Aids, Inc (OTCMKTS: MDRM) which are all trying to seek a high by playing up their connections (no matter how tenuous…) to what many consider to be the next high flying sector. But are these small cap marijuana stocks just blowing smoke at investors? Here is a quick reality check:

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

There’s been a lot of talk that investors are ready to shed their pessimistic views on airline stocks like Alaska Air (ALK) Delta Air Lines (DAL), United Continental Holdings (UAL) and American Airlines (AAL) and embrace them for the long term. The only problem: There’s no sign that they actually are.

  • [By Susan J. Aluise]

In the cutthroat global aviation market, it stands to reason that there is strength in numbers for airline stocks: Larger partners benefit because they can provide end-to-end ticketing to passengers — even to destinations that it would be unfeasible to serve. Alliances also can provide a win for smaller carriers in the Middle East that might otherwise succumb to industry consolidation. In light of that strategy, here are two U.S. airline stocks to play Middle East passenger growth:

    American Airlines (AAL)

The new American Airlines (AAL) is arriving — and its strength is in its alliances. AAL is a founding partner of the OneWorld Alliance which includes global powerhouses like British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Iberia, Japan Air Lines and Qantas. US Airways, formerly a Star Alliance member, will transfer to OneWorld this month as a result of its merger with American.

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

If this is the year that airline stocks like United Continental Holdings (UAL), Delta Air Lines (DAL) and American Airlines (AAL) take off, JetBlue (JBLU) has been the exception that proves the rule.

  • [By Trey Thoelcke]

Less than three months after its rebirth, American Airlines Group Inc. (NYSE: AAL) is on pace for a record annual profit, according to analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. The consensus estimate of $3.5 billion would put it ahead of the $2.2 billion tally for Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE: DAL) and the $1.7 billion for United Continental Holdings Inc. (NYSE: UAL).

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By John Udovich]

Small cap OTC drinking water stocks Glacier Water Services, Inc (OTCMKTS: GWSV), AWG International Water Corp (OTCBB: AWGI) and Alkaline Water Company Inc (OTCBB: WTER) all offer a product that many consumer, investors and traders alike might take for granted, but everyone needs to have. However, you can build a better mouse trap when it comes to drinking water or at least that what these three small caps are attempting to do with their own unique strategies:

Advisors’ Opinion:

In fact, I had one such moment last year when I finally sold my shares of Inteliquent (NASDAQ: IQNT  )  around $12 per share after holding them for much less time than I had originally planned. At the time, the stock had already been beaten down from its 2009 highs over $30 per share, and I had high hopes that the company might eventually regain its former glory.

    Briefly in the news
And now let’s take a quick look at some of the other stories that shaped our week.

Shares of Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG  ) hit a new 52-week high after posting stronger revenue than analysts were expecting. The burrito roller also indicated that menu price increases are on the way in a move that will increase margins. Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX  ) also landed a fresh 52-week high, but it doesn’t report until next week. The big push for the leading video service was a dozen Emmy nominations for House of Cards and Arrested Development. There’s always a model-affirming Emmy nod in the banana stand. Inteliquent (NASDAQ: IQNT  ) moved sharply higher after jacking up its revenue and adjusted EBITDA targets for the year. The provider of wholesale voice services had hosed down its outlook in May.

If you are looking for a semiconductor stock that’s focus on an area that’s not so cyclical, mid cap microcontroller (MCU) stock Atmel Corporation (NASDAQ: ATML) could be a good choice – meaning its worth taking a closer look at the stock along with other microcontroller players like Microchip Technology Inc (NASDAQ: MCHP), STMicroelectronics N.V. (NYSE: STM) and Cypress Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: CY). Microcontrollers are programmable and embedded chips that are increasingly hidden inside a all sorts of products these days e.g. if you have an appliance with a LED or LCD screen and a keypad, it contains some kind of microcontroller plus all new automobiles contain at least one and often several. I should mention that we have also recently added Atmel Corporation to our SmallCap Network Elite Opportunity (SCN EO) portfolio and we are down about 5.6% mostly due to the recent market volatility.

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Tabitha Jean Naylor]

Before the dawn of the information age and its characteristic explosion of personal computing, Xerox (NYSE: XRX) was a global power.

Every company needed to make copies, and Xerox copiers were the best on the market, even if they did cost an arm and a leg. But with the advent of the digital age, copying moved from an enterprise solution to a small business luxury.

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

The market is running in place today but the VIX continues to drop and that could be a good sign for Boeing (BA), Xerox (XRX), Jacobs Engineering (JEC), Consol Energy (CNX) and Morgan Stanley (MS).

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

The S&P 500 dropped 0.5% to 1,781.56 as Xerox (XRX) and E*Trade Financial (ETFC) fell. The Dow Jones Industrial Average outperformed for once: Blue chips fell 0.3% to 15,837.88 as Caterpillar’s (CAT) big gain helped mitigate the big drops in Visa (V) and Goldman Sachs (GS). Still, the Dow fell for a fifth consecutive day, its longest slide since Dec. 5, 2013.

  • [By Marc Bastow]
