NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — The U.S. stock market finished a choppy trading day on Wednesday generally lower with blue-chips falling the most, as investors reacted mildly to mostly disappointing economic reports. According to the Federal Reserve’s Beige Book, U.S. economic conditions in January and early February were difficult to discern due to severe cold weather. The main indexes traded in a narrow range after a big rally on Tuesday which sent the S&P 500 and the Russell 2000 to record levels. The S&P 500 (SPX) finished roughly where it closed on Tuesday, down less than a point at 1,873.81. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) dropped 35.70 points, or 0.2%, to 16,360.18. The Nasdaq Composite (COMP) gained 6 points, or 0.1%, to 4,357.97, the highest level since April 2000.

During the year ended December 31, 2012, its Packaging segment produced approximately 613,000 short tons of linerboard, and its Paper segment produced approximately 135,000 short tons! of corrugating medium. It manufactures linerboard and newsprint on two machines at its mill in DeRidder, Louisiana. It also manufactures corrugated containers and sheets and protective packaging products at 26 plants located in North America and Europe.


Paper

In its Paper segment, the Company manufactures and sells three general categories of products: communication-based papers; packaging-based papers, and market pulp. Its communication-based papers include cut-size office papers, and printing and converting papers. Its Packaging-Demand-Driven Papers include Label and release papers, Flexible packaging papers, and Corrugating medium. Printing and converting papers are used by commercial printers or converters to manufacture envelopes, forms, and other commercial paper products.

    Cleveland-based TransDigm Group (NYSE: TDG  ) is buying a piece of GE.

    On Friday, as trading wound down for the week, TransDigm announced a deal to buy the Electromechanical Actuation Division of General Electric (NYSE: GE  ) Aviation for $150 million, cash. The business, which makes proprietary, highly engineered aerospace electromechanical motion control subsystems for civil and military applications, counts all three of the world’s biggest airplane manufacturers — Boeing, Airbus, and Brazil’s Embraer — among its clients, and Sikorsky and General Atomics, as well, on the military side.

    TransDigm (NYSE: TDG  ) is rewarding its shareholders mightily with an extraordinary payout. The company has declared a special dividend of $22.00 per share, which will be paid on July 25 to shareholders of record as of July 15.
