Hot Information Technology Stocks To Watch Right Now

A little more than a month ago, the world was falling apart and everyone was wondering how much further the market could fall. Today, the Dow Jones Industrial Average broke into positive territory for the year.

Associated Press/Richard Drew

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 155.73 points, or 0.9%, to 17,481.49, putting it up 0.3% for 2016. The S&P 500 rose 0.7% to 2,040.59, and is down just 0.2% this year. The Nasdaq Composite has been having a tougher time of it: The tech-heavy index advanced just 0.2% to 4,774.99, and is still down 4.6% this year. The Dow had been down as much as 12% on Feb. 11.

Carnegie Investment Counsel’s Brent Luce considers the market’s round trip:

The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrials are now up on the year. As bad as this year has felt for many investors, if you had gone off the grid on December 31st and came back today, it would seem like nothing has changed. In the meantime, there was a 15% decline and subsequent rally…Moves like we have seen this year typically create dispersion in investment manager results as some sold in fear while others bought opportunistically….that smaller capitalization stocks have lagged in the recent rally, which implies that the median stock is probably still down for the year and that the market has likely been led by a smaller group of larger capitalization stocks.
