It was a mixed day for stocks as blue chips managed to squeak out a gain and small-caps got crushed ahead of tomorrow’s Fed announcement.
Keith Bedford for The Wall Street Journal
The S&P 500 fell 0.2% to 2,015.93 today, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 22.40 points, or 0.1%, to 17,251.53. The Nasdaq Composite fell 0.5% to 4,728.67. The Russell 2000 tumbled 1.6% to 1,066.67, the first time since Sept. 2011 that the small-company benchmark fell by at least 1.5% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished higher.
The folks at Bespoke Investment Group consider the Russell 2000′s underperformance versus the S&P 500 this year:
Including today, the S&P 500 is down 1.6%, while the Russell 2000 is down 6.1%. Todays underperformance in small caps is just a continuation of what has been an extremely consistent trend of daily underperformance this year.
Best Blue Chip Stocks To Own For 2019: California Grapes International, Inc. (CAGR)
- [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]
It is hard to fully wrap your hands around the potential market opportunity that Accenture will have in the years ahead but I believe that the opportunities are almost endless (dramatic, I know). For example, consider these forecasts that Forbes detailed in its “2017 Roundup Of Internet Of Things Forecast” report:
According to Bain, “B2B IoT segments will generate more than $300B annually by 2020, including about $85B in the industrial sector”. According to PwC, “$6T will be spent on IoT solutions between 2015 and 2020”. According to Accenture, “Industrial Internet Of Things could add $14.2T to the economy by 2020”. According to Statista, “The global Internet of Things (IoT) market is projected to grow from $2.99T in 2014 to $8.9T in 2020, attaining a 19.92% Compound Annual Growth Rate (OTCPK:CAGR). Industrial manufacturing is predicted to increase from $472B in 2014 to $890B in global IoT spending. Healthcare and life sciences are projected to increase from $520B in 2014 to $1.335T in 2020, attaining a 17% CAGR”.
The forecasts compiled by Forbes are all over the place but one thing is consistent, that is, the growth potential for IoT (and the sub-industries) is real. Connected things are expected to experience significant growth and I believe that it is hard to deny that digital will play a key role in the future growth of the global economy.

Oil prices are at levels we haven’t seen in years. U.S. crude topped $70 for the first since 2014, as U.S. President Donald Trump appeared increasingly likely to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal and reinforce sanctions on Tehran. In addition, OPEC has announced plans to bolster prices and cap production. For oil investors, Money MorningGlobal Energy Strategist Dr. Kent Moors says it’s time to buckle up. According to Moors, revoking the Iran deal would cause “price chaos” around the globe. And that’s right as driving season starts in the United States. Here’s more on the coming chaos for oil. In deal news, Blackstone Group (NYSE: BX) announced it will purchase Gramercy Property Trust (NYSE: GPT) for $7.6 billion in cash. Grammercy manages commercial real estate. We want to keep this deal on your radar, because there are many other deals like this coming down the pipeline. We’re going to be discussing one of the best real estate opportunities available very soon – so keep an eye out for updates.

The Oracle believes that Bezos has created something that is “close to a miracle.” Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) added another 0.6% Monday, to reach $185.00 per share – a new 52-week high.
