Much like the price of movie tickets, the cost of Oscar ads continues to climb. The 30-second slots for the ABC broadcast on Sunday night have jumped to a record $1.8 million — up roughly 10% vs. 2013, according to a report from media consulting specialist Kantar Media.
While the Oscar ads still cost less than half of the $4 million that Super Bowl spots sold for this year, the Academy Award ad prices, up 10%, actually grew at a faster pace this year than did Super Bowl slots, which were up about 5%, Kantar reports.
“For the first time since the recession, the Oscar pricing increased at a faster rate than Super Bowl ads,” says Jon Swallen, chief research officer at Kantar. “It’s riding on the coattails of the success of live, big-event TV programming.”

Finally, I always like to see one of the most important financial ratios applying to stockholders, the best measure of performance for a firm’s management: the return on equity. The ratio has decreased when compared to its ROE from the same quarter one year prior. Currently, a ROE of 45.9% is higher than all the 1,805 companies in the Diversified Industrials industry.
